Entropy Report post Posted April 27, 2008 Download: http://www.eternal-lands.com/el_sky_test_2.exe Install it in your EL folder. Run el_sky02.exe Under the Sky&Cam, click "Extended Camera". Under Adv Video, make the Maximum Viewing Distance something like 100 (good values are between 80 and 150), the higher it is, the more you view, but the less fps you will have. Please report problems and stuff. Extra notes: -Under the Details tab, make sure you have Render Fog turned on. The fog has been changed quite a lot and it's now a part of the sky atmosphere. If you experience any problems or can't run the client with the fog on then turn it off. -Feel free to play with the settings under the Sky&Cam tab, and try out the Follow cam. -Pressing alt+f puts you into first person view. Pressing alt+g puts you in "Grab Mode". -With the sky, having a lower perspective set, around 40, will look better than having it very high. Having it high is no longer needed to see far in the distance.

JimP Report post Posted April 27, 2008 When I rotate screen....gets all screwy...like I'm inside of trees, can't seem to rotate out...even though I didn't walk. This happened near Crypt Enterance in Tarsengaard. I was running No-Clusters before.... with no problems.

JimP Report post Posted April 27, 2008 Ok...a few things I noticed.... Before Sky....numbers looked normal.... Now, numbers look a lot smaller, and spaced way out.. Also, here are the shots when I left the crypt... and when I tried rotating out of situation... Then EL crashes, and asks to send report to MS. Also, rotation seems like dragging feet in sand....instead of a quick rotation, with one swipe.... I have to multi click/drag to rotate 360 degrees.
Eowi Report post Posted April 27, 2008 Toshiba Satelite laptop, Intel ® Core 2 CPU, T5200 @ 1.60GHz, 1.60Ghz, 1.49 GB Ram (I know, I know, had I known before I bought it I'd have bought something else), 945 chipset, can't update the software for it and can't install any other video card for it. (really wish I'd known before I bought it). Microsoft Windows XP, Media Center Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2 Not sure what other information you need or how I'd find it. The game has been rendered unplayable (at least with this new client) as it keeps crashing within moments of attempting to move or do anything. Installed, crashed upon bootup. Rebooted client, made setting changes per your instructions, crashed. Took some screenshots to show the image problems as I'm uncertain how to describe what I'm seeing. http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll173/E.../newclient1.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll173/E.../newclient2.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll173/E.../newclient3.jpg Here is the EL error_log: Log started at 2008-04-26 21:39:50 localtime (Central Daylight Time) [21:39:50] Error: Server profile not found in servers.lst for server: Lands\el_sky02.exe". Entropy Report post Posted April 27, 2008 Does it also crash without the extended camera?
JimP Report post Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) Seems exact same with EXTENDED CAM not checked... I tried launching without Extended cam checked... I exited to outdoors....still screwey... when I check EXTENDED CAM... it seems to zoom out a little...but same screwey effects. EDIT: Would this have anything to do with No-Clusters? Is there a SKY version that is No-Clusters? (Still no clue what a cluster is, but my desktop doesn't seem to like them LOL) Edited April 27, 2008 by JimP
Garnoo Report post Posted April 27, 2008 everything is fine except the camera that doesn't rotate smoothly anymore
Entropy Report post Posted April 27, 2008 For those having those weird polygon problems, try turning the water reflection off, see if it helps.
RubenVincent Report post Posted April 27, 2008 Wow, looks nice, good job. With Radeon 9000 no problems so far, even with reflections on. Occasional flickering, but not more than with the regular client. Only Framerate is dropping from 45 to 1 - 4 when sky or reflections coming into view. JimP Report post Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) Ok...turned water off (o) ....and selected POOR-MAN settings.... EDIT: PS: I really like how ALL of the numbers are outlined in black now...makes them all pop out!!! Very nice. PSS: Rotating view still feels sticky...not smooth like before. Before, if I rotated quickly, I'd whip around and slow down to a stop... very cool feel. Now, it feels like stuck in the mud...need multi clicks to rotate. PSSS: Did I mention how much I love the black outline around the numbers? LOL Edited April 27, 2008 by JimP
Roja Report post Posted April 27, 2008 The camera rotation was changed to give more control. The camera kept swinging long after you let go of the mouse, and was a pain to get it to an accurate location that you wanted. You guys can still move the camera quickly however. Just hold down the middle mouse button(or wheel), and move your mouse quickly to the side, letting go of the button before you stop moving the mouse. Kinda hard to explain but I think that's how it works.
Lissandria Report post Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) How do I post error log?? I can see the sky and water, but the client crashes after 10 seconds. p.s. I don't get enough time to change any settings before it crashes, is there a way to change the settings in the folder? Schmurk Report post Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) PSS: Rotating view still feels sticky...not smooth like before. Before, if I rotated quickly, I'd whip around and slow down to a stop... very cool feel. Now, it feels like stuck in the mud...need multi clicks to rotate. You can still increase the speed of the mouse in your options. And as Roja said, try to release your mouse button while you are moving the mouse and you'll see the camera continuing to rotate and decelerating slowly... Like I said in prev. post, the sky and stars, water, etc. all appear and for an unknown reason (to Windows at least) the client crashes. What was your location when you crashed? Try to set poor man option on before the logging by using ctrl+p shortcut to let the options window appear and see if it's better.
