Entropy Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Here they are: http://flickr.com/photos/radu_privantu/set...57603951454732/ Taken with a Canon 300D through a Celestron C90 Mak, f/13.3. Unfortuantely, I had to use a high ISO and long exposure time to capture the full color of the shadowed part, so they are not as clear as they could be. If you guys lose more rostos, perhaps I can get a 12" Newtonian reflector, and show you better pics in 2010. If you took pictures of the eclipse, post them (or their link) in this thread. Aislinn Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Ohhh nice, my daughter was so upset she had to go to bed and miss the orange/red part (she wanted to determine how poluted our air is since they of course discussed this in school). I'll show her these! Thanks for sharing them
Entropy Report post Posted February 21, 2008 She better like them, because I froze my ass (well, actually the fingers), had to stay out for abotu 2 hours, at -8C
Sir Christo Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Nice shots ... I have never seen an moon eclipse till now!
Stricken Report post Posted February 21, 2008 I thought it was pretty cool, had to go inside though I got the flu :/
Lexi Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Thanks, Entropy! I don't stay up with the solar system much, so I didn't know it was last night. When I took my pups out though, I noticed the moon acting "weird", thought it was cool. But, I had to go in cause it was really cold out. Prone for catching colds I am. And now we're experiencing a Winter Storm.. so fun...not. Anyway, thanks again!
Zerobaum Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Those photos are just amazing, sat out with my wife and son on a blanket to watch. was a sight of many. Btw, i want your camera lol
umbrena Report post Posted February 21, 2008 I saw the eclipse last night too, a bunch of us got together at a coffee store, and took turns going outside to watch the progress (uber cold weather here -20's with wind factor) It was beautiful, I only wished I had brought my digital camera, cause my cellphone one sucks, but at least I got to enjoy it in person (was the first one I ever saw, so scandalous )
Ateh Report post Posted February 21, 2008 was great to watch , dont know about anyone else but where I am the Moon had a purple glow around it before the eclipse - looked amazing ! I would post the photos I took but my digital camera made the moon look . << this big Oh well, seeing it have a purple haze looked magical
Bernie Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Thank you so much for taking the time to share with all of us this unique lunar expierence. These pictures are wonderful. I peeked at quite a few pictures on the link, you have an amazing photogenic eye. These pictures are so clear, so colorful, very fastinating to look at. I enjoyed the journey to sea world (since i have never been) through your pictures, thank you. Personally i get pictures of my thumb, I'm not very camera user friendly So great to see these pictures. Roja Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Here's a couple I took with a smaller camera, these shots I just combined together: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v59/ffle...lipse2008_2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v59/ffle...eclipse2008.jpg And this one shows saturn(to the left), and a couple of stars http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v59/ffle...ipse2008153.jpg
Entropy Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Well, I am not really happy with those particular photos (too noisy and blurry), but then again, I need better equipment (for example, if not bigger aperture for the telescope, at least auto tracking).
Bernie Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Wow Roja!! Those are fantastic! Dunno how you guys do it, hats off to both of you Roja and Radu, great pictures!! Thank you !

Lyeowar Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Unfortunately, I have to wait to develop my SLR's film - I'm old school (read: too poor to get a DSLR ). If mine are any good (and they better be - took me 1/4 of Entropy's time but 3x colder ) and this thread is still active, I'll post em. Nice shots above, though! I'm starting to save for a telescope to attach to the camera for 2010.

Those are your first astrophotos? (you shouldnt be disapointed, they are nice photos) I tried to look to skyes but had some clouds after rain (wish they werent there so it would be perfect atmosphere conditions) and lol, if i stop lose some rostos maybe soon i can buy my 200mm newtonian reflector , for now my fun is only my celestron 10x50 wa (bino)
Entropy Report post Posted February 21, 2008 No, actually my first astrophotos (that were decent enough) are taken through a Celestron EQ 114, with a x3 barlow lens (the god damn thing didn't focus on the sensor without it), and are here: http://flickr.com/photos/radu_privantu/166...57602300125287/ http://flickr.com/photos/radu_privantu/166...57602300125287/ Then I have some better shots of the full moon (non eclipse) taken with the very same equipment I took the eclipse photos: http://flickr.com/photos/radu_privantu/175...57602300125287/ http://flickr.com/photos/radu_privantu/175...57602300125287/ http://flickr.com/photos/radu_privantu/175...57602300125287/
