Acelon Report post Posted December 23, 2007 (edited) As you may have seen, I have a custom cape ingame that is a powersaving cloak with an awesome gold dragon on it. Well, with the update, it got kind of distorted, and I really can't wear it anymore. So now's a time for all of you designers out there! I want a new cape designed for me that looks good ingame. The cloak can be any color, but I will be choosing based on what looks the best on my character. As for what's on it, you decide, but I do have a soft spot for gold dragons. To submit them, post the file link here. It must be the same size as all other cape files! The winner will receive a mystery prize, but here's a hint, it'd dragon related I will be accepting submissions until January 4th and will choose a winner by the next day. Good luck, feel free to post questions here, or ask me ingame. MUST BE SAVED AS 256 COLOR BMP! Since I'm getting a lot of choices.. I feel like there should be more than one winner... so I'm gonna have a few categories to win under. Best looking design on a cape (but distorted ingame ) Most creative design Third best overall Second best overall First best overall First best overall will win the dragon item, and will obviously be the one used ingame. Cyprom Report post Posted December 24, 2007 (edited) I made you one dragon which fits on any cloak Several positioning possibilities (Click for an in game example, It's 2 a.m. and I don't feel like redoing the pictures for a perfect fit yet, so that's almost how it will look) Other colors Just to see the effect on other backgrounds) Last one is my favorite ^^ -- Cyp Edit Didn't know what program could upload without changing the extension... So I just uploaded it onto my website in an off topic directory You may visit the site if you want to, but it's in dutch ^^ Your capes once more (note that the gray one has the dragon higher, I can do that for all) Edited December 26, 2007 by Cyprom
jrritter31984 Report post Posted December 24, 2007 (edited) This was done in "paint" application, I haven't figured gimp out yet. Btw the red, green, and yellow for the dragon ,grass and fire didn't really work it stays black and brown http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u26/nor...cape1_white.jpg EDIT: added 2 new screen shots of a edited cape http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u26/nor...pe1_white-1.jpg http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u26/nor...rrent=cloak.jpg if you have trouble downloading it Acelon give me a forum pm and i'll try to e-mail it to you from my el directory Edited December 24, 2007 by jrritter31984
Lexi Report post Posted December 24, 2007 Note sure how to get them to work.. tried doing it to test, but it showed up like a blurred grey cloak (whether I tested green or grey)... I tried this once before to make my own cape, but it happened like that then too.. so I don't know what to do.... *sigh* Assuming I can't enter if it wont work... so if anyone knows what I did wrong, please inform me. LIGHTspeed Report post Posted December 24, 2007 (edited) Btw the red, green, and yellow for the dragon ,grass and fire didn't really work it stays black and brown This is because the Bitmaps are saved with a color palette to reduce the size of the file. Not sure how to get them to work.. tried doing it to test, but it showed up like a blurred grey cloak (whether I tested green or grey)... I tried this once before to make my own cape, but it happened like that then too.. so I don't know what to do.... This is also palette related... I believe the Bitmaps are saved to 256 color mode (Please correct me if I'm wrong), which is plenty of colors when it's limited to just what's used. You'll need to get rid of the current palette and redo it after, with the new color group used, then save it as a 256 color Bitmap. Ok, I don't stand a chance against some of these, but here's my first entry: Doesn't look quite as good In-game as I would have liked, but I saved all the layers seperately, so if you like it but don't like the color/position/color of the cloak it's on, let me know and I'll change it. Acelon Report post Posted December 24, 2007 Eek, he's right. When I try on some of the capes... a lot of them lose color information... which makes them not look that great. So if you already did one, make sure it's saved as 256 color .bmp, else I probably won't pick it.
Cycloonx Report post Posted December 24, 2007 Another problem is that the capes are more stretched now, so cropping your height of the picture a little could help to make it look better ingame because it will be strechted to normal height ingame.

LIGHTspeed Report post Posted December 24, 2007 I edited my post on Page 1 to include my first try at this. The dragon didn't come with an Alpha layer, so I spent most of the morning rotoscoping the thing... It might be just a little too complex though... It's too confusing when scaled down enough to fit on the cloak.
Acelon Report post Posted December 25, 2007 I'm liking what I see so far! I can't see the capes how they are supposed to be, because when I save them, it loses color information when I change it to 256 color. The only one that worked properly was smooms's because he saved it as a .png I think. Otherwise, I don't even have a clue of who might win yet. I like 5-6 different ones already, and there is still time for more. I have figured out what colors I am more partial to... Bluegrey, grey, black, greengray
