War Of Mynadar

Recommended Posts

Gene and Rivender ran out past what looked to be like a series of outdents in the cave walls, but instead they were starman's men. Gene smiled, "This is gonna be a bloodbath" he said under his breath. The orcs came rushing out behind him, "But where is Flea?" he thought to himself...I guess he has something cooked up he didn't tell us about....

One of the dwarves tugged his cape "Where do we go now?" he asked. "We are going to get the help of the people who live near Tirnville" Niburc lied, his home was there and he planned on ditching the Dwarves near the border. "Some of the Dwarves are thinking of going back" he commented. "No, we're not going back there. But it is their choice".

The mountian pass was swarming with orcs, and troops from far out Orchan colonies were marching in. "No, this can't be". How could I get back to the proud cities there? Anger boiled in him, these foul creatures whose master smelled like his goat had to die. "We are going to fight them here, and kill them one by one slowly. This I promise you, no longer do we cower, no longer will we let them walk without looking over their shoulders. We will be the shadows."

The dwarves were caught up by the speech, but they were always ready for fighting. They all had the common goal, the common flame. The death of all the Orcs.

((oh,hmm...))

Flea saw most of the orchanas running around franticly because of the fluffy attack. The large orchan and his guard seemed undesterbed, and as he started to speak the monsters queited down, and formed up in ranks with pikes outword and to the sides. He head using some invisibility magic along the wall as they tramped by.

He knew that if the leader was dead, the army would flee. Notching an arrow to his bowstring, he quietly took out a guard loitering away from the others. The leader noticed though, and soon the guards were coming towards him. Firing as many arrows as he could, he could tell it wouldn't be enough. He watched as they came closer, and unsheathed his dagger.

Spyrte was standing outside when he heard it. There was a thudding;a rythmic, percise thudding. "Their prepared." he said to Gene. "Get the ones with the heaviest armor and largest sheilds out into the open, so they think thats our force. The ambush should work then."

((c'mon, where is everybody?))

(starman said wait for everybody, guess most stopped)

Gene gritted his teeth and saw them coming....He still wondered what Flea was doing inside? Rivender summoned a few rabbits to distract the oncoming force and then took out his sword and stood next to gene and Spryte.

((dont wait, he hasnt posted for a while))

Flea pulled out his dagger and stabbed an oncoming guard. Disspatching the next three, he wonderd how many there wer, he say some heavily armored elites coming towards him. Gritting his teeth, he ran backwards and cast a spell to fire some flames forward. He then used an air essence on an arrow and and attached a note on saying "get in here. Need help."after firing it he was hit in the back with a large cudgle. Looking up he say it coming down onto his face. Rolling over he leaped up, and grabbing his knife threw it into the orchans unprotected face. He took out the few charging gaurds, grabbed his dagger, and hid behind a rock waiting for the next onslought of the personal guards, who were just streaming in from the back of the cave.

((Sorry flea, I got had to get verified again))

Niburc and his dwarves after inflicting wounds upon the orchans travelled back to Mynadar. Why do I look upon these short folks as comrades? The clear blue skies, the wonderful rocks, the clear lakes it was a haven. Yet these Orchans bring fire and death? I am becoming tied to the land? Am I loving it as brother to brother? or Son to father? The land must not fall, the people could not.

And Orchans were farther in his path, ready for another assauslt upon the seiged Mynadar.

((Sorry about saying to ignore you. I just diddnt want it to die, like so many others. I sorta got attached to it. Oh, and Myndar isn't beseiged anymore. We're at the cave headquarters of the orchans.))

Flea saw the hopelessness of the situation and sprinted down the cave. Running full speed he faintly saw a mass of orchans against the pure daylight at the end of the tunnel. Gritting his teeth he pulled out his bow and prepared his arrows for when the orchans would be close enough to shoot.

Spryte saw the heavily armerd beasts come out of the lip of the tunnel. They steadily advanced on the small group of warriors in front of them. "Charge!" Spryte screamed and the solders ran at the orchans. The battle raged and Spryte fell behind the infintry because of the mass of pikes. A few well placed arrows flew into the hoard, but there wassnt much he could do.

As Zelse walked in from the eastern entrance to the Valley of the Dwarves he noticed that the west side of the river was very dark and shady while the east of the river was bright and sunny. "It looks like things are still in the balance Instructor." said Zelse. "Good, let us un-balance it then," said a man who came walking up from behind Zelse, "Cadets! fall into military formation!" he yelled. It was Farquar, the military instructor of the Tarsengaard Magic School. He decided to give his cadets -a special group of mages that interwove magic with their physical attacks- a field test, and brought the Head Hospital Healer Zelse along to care for his Cadets when they needed it. The 20 Cadets made four lines of five and awaited furthur instruction.

"Our first priority is to provide aid to those within Mynadar... or liberate it if necessary," said Farquar as he paced back and forth in front of the Cadets and continued, "remember your training and show no fear, fear makes orcs, goblins and orchans stronger. Instead show confidence, calmness and will." The young men felt sure of their abilities and what they could accomplish, in fact they were considered the 'jocks' of the Magic School yet none of them had seen war.

"Also," it was Zelses' turn to talk, "remeber that this is a real battle, yes it is a field test and if you pass you will be an Elite member of the force... IF you pass, failure will result in death and I can't be everywhere at once." One of the Cadets snickered. "Is there a problem Cadet?" asked Farquar. "N-no Sir." said the Cadet. "Good, then you wont mind me taking off five points from your record." Farquar said sternly. The Cadet wasnt prepared for that, "N-no S-sir, notatall sir." replied the Cadet all jittery. "Good, now March!" Roared Farquar and the small fighting force went off towards the city of Mynadar not knowing what to expect but knew that if the city fell to the enemy then they would soon fight the war in their land of Tarsengaard.

((Its not to late,We sorta needed reinforcements  ))

Spryte took a look at the hills. The green glades did not reflect the war that had been passing by them at all. Spring was in full bloom, and flowers came, even where the orc camp was originaly. As he scanned the hills, he saw a small group of beings on the crest. "Allies, or enemys?" he thought. Quickly rushing off, he glanced back and thought he saw a lone figure in the entrence of the cave.

Flea stood in the entrence of the cave and abosorbed the seen. Spryte running for some reason, men and orcs killing each other, and a dandilion growing in the excect center of the combat. He laughed unhummeredly. Joy in sorrow, there was no seperating it.He observed that noone had appered to notice him, so he sniped a few of the ones that were lagging behind. Hereing footsteps, he whipped around and saw the gaurds were uppon him. He stuck his dagger out just in time to deflect a swordblade. Pikes menenced him and he slowly fell back towards the general battle which had just noticed him.

Spryte used all his elven stealth to creep all the way to the road were the figures were treading. Waiting for a brief time, he saw the legions come into view. The appered to be humen, and there was one who was obviosly a white mage. As he concluded they were allies, he slipped back into the forest and stole over to a bend in the road . Placing himself in the middle of the road, he waited for them to come around the bend.

Farquar had noticed a shady figure in the forest that was between his force and the City of Mynadar, without a word Farquar made a hand signal that ordered the troops to divide up into two groups of 10, one following Zelse down the path and the other towards the forest. He was hoping to surround whatever was spying on him and hoped to question the shady figure on the condition of the city and the battle that was going on.

Spryte sat crosslegged in the middle of the path, his bow on the center of his lap. He heard footsteps round the bend. "So," he said in a flat monotone," You have come as reinforcements to Myndar, which makes you quite late. We have pushed them back to there own cave, wich is northwest of here. If you shall help, hurry up." He hoped his blunt speach would get the point across."Oh, and tell your leader that glanceing at shadows indicates that they know the're there, which isnt good for hostile shadows."

Flea fell back into the midst of the battle, backing away from the heavily armered elites coming after him. He was able to reach high ground and stick a few arrows in them, but they kept advancing. he found a firm oak and climbed to get a higher spot were he could rain arrows down on the orchans. He did just that, but they started hacking down the tree. Whipping out his dagger, he made a quick prayer to allwen and Jumped above the masses of gaurds. Just then it occured to him-"Why in the name of Allwen are they all coming after me?!?!?!?"

As the elf was finishing his talk to Zelse and his squad Farquar and his squad came to meet them. "Sir," started Zelse, "The forces of Mynadar have been pushing the enemy forces back to the caves, they need help keeping them there." Zelse thought the elf was very rudely blunt and wondered why he wasnt helping his comrades. "Very well then," said Farquar, "Elf, take us the the cave so that we can send these foul beasts' back to the darkness from which they came." Farquar said this in a very urgent manner knowing that the soldiers fighting for Mynadar might be very tired and exhausted.

Spryte stood up and leaped into the forest following no trail or path. He heard footsteps rushing arter him and he used all his elven hearing to trace where the cave was. Sprinting to his freinds aide he he hoped the soldiers were following close enough to find the partialy concealed valley. They were the ones he could rely on turning the tide of the battle. After reaching the crest of the hill and seeing the extra orchans, his bloodlust rose and he flew into the mele.

Flea fell onto the orchans narrowly missing being skewered by a pike. Grabbing the dead beasts sword, he was able to deflect a battle ax and save his life. Spining and hacking his way out, he rushed back into the general battle and realised how fatigued he was. All the other soldiers seemed just as if not more tired from the endless fighting that the were doing in the grueling heat. They were falling back, and ever more fresh reinforcements were coming out of that cave.

The elf was very quick and agile going through the forest, it was hard for Zelse, Farquar and the rest of the Cadets to keep up with him. Farquar soon realized this was a good opportunity to warm up the Cadets for battle, so he gave a quick order in short breath, "Teleport after the elf!" and so it was. the Cadets teleported so quickly and smoothly while running that they nearly ran past the elf. When they reached the crest of the hill and saw the battle they froze.

"Fall in line Cadets!" Ordered Farquar, "this is your first REAL battle, its do or die now, our first objective is to eliminate the enemy forces on the hill, then regroup and proceed to the cave."

"Alright Cadets," began Zelse "I know this seems pretty scary but this probly isnt even the main battle site, so consider this a warm-up, break up into your squads of four and prepare for your orders."

The Cadets went into five groups of four, each with their own name (which they thought of on their own) and objective, Farquar gave them their orders. "Alpha Squad! protect that elf and don't let him die on us!"

"Yes Sir!" replied the squad and off they went after the elf.

"Tarsengaard Squad! Magic Squad! And Delta Squad! You three shall come with me as the main attack force! Tarsengaard Squad shall be melee magic offense, line up! Magic Squad shall line up in front of them and be shock troopers, remember as shock troopers your must teleport randomly around the battle field and deliver one-hit death blows to the enemy and teleport again! Delta Squad! Line up behind Tarsengaard Squad and act as re-enforcements, don't let me and the Tarsengaard Squad get surrounded by enemy forces! OH! Essence Squad! stay with Zelse and follow his orders!" With that Farquar and the three squads went to the skirmish.

"OK Essence Squad, as you know, once your stuck with me your in search and rescue healing, you see a fellow Cadet wounded, get to his as fast as you can, heal him and dont leave his side until hes alright and or safe again, and if necissary; get them to me for critical healing." Said Zelse in a calm voice, he had seen many battles in his time and knew that things were just going to get harder.

A group of warriors seemed to have been following Spryte, for when he stoped to notch an arrow they stoped to. Turning to a man who appeared to be a leader, he said, "You see that elf?In the middle of the battle? I cant reach him, and he has no time to teleport. You bear the banner of the magic school, so you should be able to reach him right? The great legions from the magic school should be able to do that, correct?" He hoped to fire their pride, and get them to save Flea.

"We will do what we can Sir!" replied the Cadet to the elf. He and another Cadet teleported as close as they could to the elf in the middle of the battlefield and made their way towards him. The other two Cadets stayed with the elf they were ordered to protect. One Cadet cast Protection and Magic defense on him. The other used a special skill that the Cadets were taught by Farquar at the Magic School. It was the Magic Sword Skill. The Cadet combined a few Fire Essences with his sword and performed a kind of ceremonic dance with his sword. It was a quick action and when he suddenly stopped and strucked his sword outward a blast of flames burst forth and burned the enemies around him.

Flea glanced around in disbelieve. Two men had teleported to his side and burned the Orchans to a crisp! Glancing from side to side, he saw spryte on the outskrts of the battle and fought his way through the battle to get to him.

Spryte stood in shock as he watched the orchans burn to a crisp. "Wow, you guys have learned well from your school" he said to the cadet nearest him. He gave Flea a cover fire while Flea made it up to him and said"We cant lose with these guys using that kind of magic! The men are inspired and are fighting harder then they have the entire war, even when fighting for their homes!"

Zelse was healing a nearby Cadet that got hurt due to his cockyness on the battlefield when Farquar made his way to him and asked for a report. "Well," started Zelse "the Cadets are following orders, that elf is still alive and it seems that the morale of the soldiers who have been fight this battle since before we got here has risen, looks like we just need to wait for their commander to find us and tell us what we need to do next."

"Good." replied Farquar and went back into the battle.

Flea was releived to see Spryte was unharmed, as they had both had some very close calls. Spryte seemed rather troubled though, so Flea asked, "Whats wrong? Reinforcements come, they have amzing magical powers, yet you seem worried." Spryte looked at him gravely and responded "Their are always more orcs coming out of that cave, it never seems tostop. The potions are going to run out eventualy, and then what do we do?" Flea nodded his head gravely. " I will talk to the magician leader, and we should be able to come up with some tactics. You stay here and give the troops cover fire. And you magicians, could you either point out your leader or call him here? Some sttratigy would be usful right now."

A blunt looking dwarf hobbled out of the cave. he called to one of the mages doing healings. The mage raced to him and what was wrong. In the dwarves dying breath, he breathed two words in which no one ever thought was possible. "orc mages"

After those two last words, the dwarf fell. The cadet knew it was too late, gave him alluwens blessing, and left. Later, two dwarves found him and realised their once great warrior scullsyk fell down to the wrath of the orcs. Promising revenge, they half carried, half dragged him to the city. Then ran back to tell the dwarves of their loss.

The Chronicler walked up to a shelf in the monastery library and pulled out a tome. This was an old tome, yet it was mysterious. Some pages of it were blank, while some were filled with text and even symbols. When you touched those symbols you became part of the story told. At least that was what he thought.

The Chronicler put the book on a reading desk with a loud "thump" and in the flickering light of his lamp he read the cover and it said "War Of Mynadar". The only thing he needed to find out was what symbols he had to touch to be able to "see" the content of the book, and he had a pretty good idea.
