Proffesions and Titles

Recommended Posts

Many people ask "What's the best way to make money in Eternal-Lands?"

Well, a possible solution to this "Poor Man's Begging" is to have a job, persay.

We could have people designated as "hunters" or "harvesters" and they get paid for their services. They could even have thier own shop decorated to thier taste and thier proffesion!

I dunno, either way it would be a great way to earn money, rather than harvesting flowers and fruit or selling equipment.

Just trying to suggest an alternative is all

One of the benefits of EL is that we have no classes or professions, so this suggestion doesn't seem to fit with the game, IMO.

not a definate proffesion, just something to help with the gc flow...know what i mean? :sneaky:

Once again, why don't you play a bit more before posting here? Or at least use "Search", similar suggestion has been made.

You can do this in your own guild, give everybody a title fitting their profession and pay them for services.

Something along these lines that may be interesting though, have an NPC that gives out official titles for a cost. Say 10k gc, and you can get your title changed to what ever you want. Then above my character, it would read

Evalin the town drunk.

HIM

100/100

name and title

guild

health

Of course, this could be abused by players. Throwing in not so much as family friendly titles as an example. Just adding to the idea though :D

Gaining titles would be a good thing from an RPG viewpoint, if they were something to be earned.

If you can just decide to call yourself "King of Serdia" or "Lakeside Village Idiot" they are no more than extended names.

Titles could be offered for completion of quests, for certain rank achievements or combinations thereof. They could be unique, and you could lose them (think of "King's Champion" being earned and lost in an arena).

Titles do not have to bestow any special abilities, rights, or powers! If earned, their prestige value would be sufficient. This does not mean that no title would bestow such benifits.

There would be a problem if they where just appended to the character name above the avatar; there is not enough space. Instead, titles can be reported through the 'look-at' action; "You see: Evalin, the town drunk". This also caters for multiple titles.

Actually, that's an idea to run with there. Quests that have you earn a title. Great idea Trollson :(

Upon completion of a quest, you recieve a "book" that when used, changes your title to what ever. Of course the book will be non drop/trade so that no one may sell a title.

Even beyond that, once in a rare occasion, the mods would hold an contest. These contests would bestow a unique title to the victor. You don't gain much more prestige than having a unique title. It could easily tie in with the roleplaying of the event itself. If it's a fight to the death, the last man (or woman) standing gains the title of Gladiator, or Man Slaughterer, and so on. Unlimited possibilities with that.
