Well it would not be too hard to do anything like a web service or create a simple protacol useing raw sockets, tell me what you would use, if there is demand i can try and create it.

That is good of you, however there are many sites and bots now using the Online player list, if we could get everybodys attention to use a mirror then that would take even more load off the server.

Additionally entropy might be planning to move the list to the EL webserver.

Hi, I have set up a mirror:

http://www.makhutov.org/el/mirror/online_players.htm

The page is updated every minute. The server has a very high avability (>98%/Year) and is located in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. So you can safely use this mirror.

Paraniod people can still use the original el website as fallback.

I hope this will solve your problems.

nice, very nice...

in what interval may i parse that mirror page?

could you also provide a html-free file of the list like mentioned above? :P

Great service, I use it constantly, PM me ingame to discuss some form of payment :icon13:

as for the stripped down lists:

http://www.tcofel.be/onlineplayers.txt for the online players, or

http://www.tcofel.be/onlinebots.txt for the online bots.

The separator is ' ' (space, \0x20).

The files are updated every 60 seconds.

To see my use of the page: http://www.tcofel.be/

I am syncing my list every 60 seconds.

You can sync to my server how often you want.

A html free version will be implemented soon.

A sure way to get banned from connecting to the server is to fetch information from the game server every 60 seconds without permission from Entropy!

Hi,

my Server is down to a hardware mailfunction.

Please use an other server for that time.

The Problem will be fixed tomorrow by my ISP.

Thanks for the heads up, I have gone back to the original EL server, and requesting the page once every 10 minutes so there will be some delay between logging on/off and appearing online/offline but a little is better than nothing :)

Hi, so, the server is up and running again.

A RAM Module has failed and was exchanged.

Ah and I forgot:

My server is syncing only every 5 minutes to the el-website.

So I guess now we all may as well just use the file Entropy is providing.. we are still limited to once every 5 mins. So, Maybe if one person could ask for permission to poll it every minute, and then offer a consumable page for the rest of us? That would rock.

Hello,

I have started mirroring the new TXT file.

Please use the link:

http://www.makhutov.org/el/mirror/online_players.txt

I will stop mirroring the old file at 01.10.2006 20.00 UTC. So please update your bots.

UPDATE:

I am allowed to mirror the file every 2 minutes.

UPDATE #2:

The file is updated every 2 minutes now.
