Send good thoughts

Recommended Posts

Michelle_F is having contractions every 10 minutes (she's 41 weeks pregnant (a week overdue)) so we're off to the hospital :P

Hopefully in a few hours or so we'll be cradling a baby, I will post any and all the pics :)

Talk to you all later

Congratulations! You have my best and fondest thoughts for a quick labour and a perfect birth.

btw, do not name a child Dent, no matter how much you may admire someone else of that name.

Thanks everyone, I have to report that baby girl Caitlin Ellen was born at 12.01 PM GMT today, 19/06/06.

She was delivered normally after quite a quick labour and weighed 7lb 15ounces (appr 3.6 kilograms).

Both Michelle and Cait are doing great.

Pictures are here

Hospitals, I hate them!

I am glad to report that both mother and daughter are doing great, and are finally back home.

The hospital forgot about us (no really) and were going to keep them both in overnight again, but one strongly worded conversation from a father sorted that out post haste.

The baby is nestled snugly on my lap as I type, with her hand on my left one, causing me no end of typing problems, but I would not change it for the worls, and the backspace key is easily accessible to my right hand anyway

Thanks for your kind words and thoughts everyone, and keep checking the pictures link for updates :P

with all the publicized criticisms and screw ups the NHS has been in the last few years I wouldn't be surprised...

Unless you went private :)

The whole thing went like this:

6PM day 1 in hospital, 6 hours after the birth:

Greg: "Can michelle go home yet?"

Nurse: "No, we are short staffed today, that is why nobody has seen her yet, she's staying overnight"

Greg: "Well, thanks for keeping us fully informed about the situation"

8AM day 2 in hospital:

Nurse: "Michelle you're doing great and if you wish you can go home today"

Michelle: "Yeah I want to go home"

Nurse: "Great, we'll send the pediatrician to see you and you're all set"

4 PM day 2 in hospital:

Greg: "When is whoever needs to see Michelle coming?"

Nurse: "Someone will see her"

Greg: "I know that, I want to know when. Can you tell me please?"

Nurse: "Someone will see her"

Greg: "Don't fob me off, do you know when?"

Nurse: "No"

Greg: "It's fine, I just don't want what happened last night happening again"

2nd Nurse: "What happened last night?"

Greg: "I asked at 6PM and was told there was nobody left to see her"

2nd Nurse: "Oh I understand your concern, let me look into it for you now"

Greg: "Thanks a lot, that would be great"

4:10PM day 2 in hospital:

2nd Nurse: "Oops, we have no record about Michelle needing a visit so she can go home, nobody wrote it in the book, it is a good thing you asked"

Greg: "Well, I am not exactly renowned for keeping my mouth shut"

2nd Nurse: "The pediatrician is coming to see you next Michelle, sorry for the confusion"

4:20PM day 2 in hospital:

Pediatrician: "Hi I'm here to check on the baby"

4:25PM:

Pediatrician: "Everything's fine with the baby, you can go home anytime"

4:26PM:

Greg: "Where's our paperwork"

Nurse: "Right here"

4:27PM:

Greg: "Hi can I have a taxi please"

Job done, mission accomplished, special swords books all round.

Final result:

NHS: 1 Greg: 1+1 on an 89th minute penalty

The crowd goes wild! :)
