Client Crashes constantly [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

Ever since last night's update I haven't been able to login on my character. I enter my character name and password (correctly of course) click the login button and I get the Dev C+ crash message.

Constantly.

Which is to say again and again.

Which is kind of annoying to see. I mean, I tried logging in about 30-40 times. I've had these crashes before, the worst it ever got for me was four crashes in a row (on any given day), but then I usually can log in. I was told before that it was because my graphics card was conflicting with the client where the use of open gl was concerned and that I should "go and buy a better card". Which, for many reasons I won't go into here, I simply did not do. See below for my system configuration.

Thing's I've Tried So Far

1) I've tried rebooting my system - both warm and cold boots. Crash crash crash.

2) Check my Error Log (see below for contents)

3) Check my Connection Log (see below for contents)

4) Swore a hell of a lot. (helped somewhat)

5) Played a Kenny-G tape I found in a parking lot one time. (I was astounded how much that helped)

6) Ate a strawberry shortcake. (Didn't help much at all, but it needed to be done)

7) Watered my plants.

The latest ATI Catalyst drivers are ver 6.4

So your DXdiag should read:

Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll
Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6606 (English)
DDI Version: 9 (or higher)
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
Driver Date/Size: 3/22/2006 05:56:42, 257536 bytes

The driver date you have:

Driver Date/Size: 2/22/2005

indicates its more than a year old

So I would suggest you use the cat-uninstaller to remove your current drivers and then download and install the latest drivers for ATi RADEON

I saw that, and I guess I'm not surprised that would be whats going on. Of course I'll go to ATI's website and download the "latest" driver, but here's the thing that gets me:

I downloaded my current driver not three days ago.

Hopefully I can get a new "latest" driver and the problem will be fixed.

I'll post the results.

Thanks

It took me awhile to get the proper driver from Ati's website, but I finally got it.

The client works now that the new driver is installed.

Thanks for your help
