Guest Report post Posted February 16, 2004 Everytime I attempt to run el.exe, it goes through the "logging on" part, then it says "Can't resolve server address. Perhaps you are not connected to the Internet or your DNS server is down." None of this is true... I'm fully connected to the internet, and I've double and triple-checked my DNS server. I have no firewall either... Anyone know what's up? Thanks.
Cicero Report post Posted February 16, 2004 Can you view the "players online" page?
Kasgoroth Report post Posted February 16, 2004 Can you ping the EL-server by it's name? Switch to the command line (DOS) and type ping eternal-lands.solexine.fr. Reply with the result.
Guest Report post Posted February 16, 2004 I can't get into MSDos or DosPrompt or any of that for some reason. Also, I can't open the game at all... I get the previously indicated error message when I open el.exe. I can't get anywhere... You think it's something with the host name or port? The host name is eternal-lands.solexine.fr, and the port is 2000.
Guest Report post Posted February 16, 2004 I tried going to that "Players Online" link on the main http://www.eternal-lands.com/ site and it came up as "Page can not be displayed". What's up with that? Did you ask, cause that's an indicator of something?
Cicero Report post Posted February 16, 2004 The players online page is hosted on the game server. There's a problem with your ISP. You can just wait for them to resolve it, or contact them and tell them to get the lead out.
Kasgoroth Report post Posted February 16, 2004 @ Cicero: what if he just changes the "Host" portion in ELConfig.exe from eternal-lands.solexine.fr to 62.93.225.26? Wont it do the trick meanwhile?
Entropy Report post Posted February 16, 2004 Yes it will. But the game server will be hosted on a different machine soon, so he will need to change it again to the new IP. Best thing to do is contact your ISP and ask what you should do.
Guest Report post Posted February 16, 2004 Okay... I'm gonna contact my ISP and get back on here to the forum to let you guys know what happened. By chance, do you know what the new IP is gonna be? (Just in case my ISP don't know what to do, which I have a feeling that's what they're gonna tell me, lol) Thanks.
