Well, we are talking science here so... :) .

Anyways I missed computer science, cuz I basically percieve it as a contact zone between maths and physics.

:P there's a decent bit of maths, yes, but physics? only in specialist applications/libraries (the fact that a game character walks on the ground is 3d maths, not physics... yes, you can have action/reaction when something is hit, but then you would also have to include anatomy, biology, even the social sciences in a game like EL... those can be part of a CS project, but not CS itself)

unless you're thinking of the electronics and all, which is electrical engineering, not computer science (at least according to the degrees at my university)

anyway... I'd go either physics or maths... but since I like each in different ways (and some parts of each more than others) I can't really pick one over the other

Well, hardware ----> mostly electronics, software -----> mostly math.

Anyways I skipped biology because it's a contact point between physics and chemistry.

Can't say between the three - I mean, to think where we'd be without Physics... the formulas were somewhat fun, especially when you actually make a real-world connection to the math.

Then chemistry...for the most part, the experiments were a little mundane, but there were a few that came out real cool. I suggested a Francium Fluoride compound experiment once, my teacher didn't seem in a big hurry to try. :)

Math - oh, I HATED the busy work of all the calculations, and that every math teacher wants ALL your work written out... I mean, if I can get from question to answer on the shortest road possible, get out of my way... Still, I understand why it was so, but never really helped me that much later...

I picked math, i've always liked knowing there is a "right" answer. It wasn't my easiest subject (I had to work hard at it), and I only went up to calc, but I've always enjoyed figuring out the solutions.

Physics was the coolest of the sciences, and had the best experiments imo. Chemistry I looked forward to, only to find out it wasn't at all what I expected. Drat that periodic table!

I can see why. only 1 gram of pure Francium exists in the world today it is extremely hard to make and usually bonds with the first thing it comes in contact with.

Well, that and the two elements being at either ends of some reactivity-measuring scale that I can't remember the name of now. Basically, I did ask what would happen - my chemistry teacher claimed it would be violently reactive - I believe his exact words were "boom!"

Hell, I wanna see something react to vacuum. Anyways, you could do it, within 22 minutes of first synthesising Fr -223. Fr is only slightly more reactive than Cs, and the reaction happens so fast basically it will be identical to you.

none o fthe above i like anthropology stuff like taht

What kind of anthropology? I assume you mean social-science (which isn't much of a science imo). Physical anthropology, just like anything involving biology, is just chemistry, physics and maths.

Can you add 'None'?

anything involving biology, is just chemistry, physics and maths.

You need to be careful about this kind of stuff.

Biology can be descripted in chemical terms, but this does not mean biology is a branch of chemistry. Chemistry can be descripted in physical terms, but this does not mean chemistry is a branch of physics (i had a physics teacher at uni who said that ^_^, had lots of fun joking with him because of that). Physics has much to do with maths, its based on it, but its a kind of exageration to call it a branch of maths. Maths is a branch of logics (in my humble opinion).

So every science can be derived from logics? No, science rely on logic AND experimentation. You can make experiments with maths? Not i am aware off, so i dont considere it a science.

Niels Bohr once said "Every science is either physics or descriptive", and he is mainly right. You can group "sciences" in math/physics based* (all physics branchs, physical chemistry, geology, etc), and descriptive sciences (biology, inorg chem, org chem, etc). Some group social sciences in descriptive "pack", but other arguments that those expirements made by social sciences dont obey the "rules" of other sciences (i personally think its ok to call them sciences).

*Which uses math has a primary tool in their study.

Well, classification and stuff *IS* quite inscientific. Besides biology is quite inaccurate - there are little or no fixed relations there. Hi Lorck btw =D

Same here

Can anyone else sense that this person is going to go through a few paradigm shifts in their academic career?

Someone get Loth in here with some wittgenstein

It's "innacurate", well some parts of it is innacurate, because its is an rapid evolving body of knowledge.

Anyways, if people want to know more about denitions about what is science, what metods it uses etc may look at wikipedia article for an introduction and/or

here for more in depht info.

And i know chemistry is my and yours fave Dimov ^_^
