The Chimeran Card

Recommended Posts

Guest unknownsomeone

First off, I ran a search for any similar ideas, but could find none.

I would like to introduce a new idea to the eternal lands community- a completely useless item (in terms of any skill) that has a high risk feature- its price. Each day, an NPC will offer you this item (we'll call it a Chimeran Card for these purposes) at a different price within a given range. Also, each day, you can sell a Chimeran Card at a few gold coins below the sale price. The entire strategy is to buy low, sell high. Sounds easy, eh? Just buy it for 250gc and sell it for 1000gc! There is always a catch- the Chimeran Card drops in sale price for each day that you hold it, and after a week, becomes completely useless and/or is removed from your inventory completely. Likewise, there should be a limit of how many a player could buy daily, and there should be random days where the NPC would neither buy or sell the cards. It is like playing the lottery. I don't think that I could get any more detailed than this.

Feedback would be highly appreciated,

Unknownsomeone

It is kind of like a lottery in a way. There is a limit to how long it is good for, and therefore, you could potentially either lose of win money, depending on the situation.

Ok after personA buys it from the npc, why would any other player want to buy it from playerA?

And knowing that, why would playerA buy it in the first place? He can never sell it for more than he bought it for: "Also, each day, you can sell a Chimeran Card at a few gold coins below the sale price."

Yeah, your general idea is cool but the way you have it set up doesn't work at all, it would just have to be an item that changes in value every day completely randomly, none of that disappearing, lowering in price, etc.

Actually, as I understand it, Person A buys it from the NPC for, say 250 gc. Person A goes back to the NPC the next day and the NPC may be selling them for 1000 gc. Person A would have the ability to sell it back to the NPC for around 900 gc, making a profit of 650 gc. It can always work the other way. But after a little time, wont people learn the range and what is normally the safe price to buy them for, removing most of the risk?

Ok from what i see it, you go to an NPC and buy a ticket, you can then come back any time you want and sell it, and the price the NPC buys it for changes every day between a range (lets say 1k-10k) and when you sell it it sells for just inder the buy prices (maybe 5% less). The idea of this is to give people a way to gamble on something and maybe win big.

However there is majoy problems, the main one being the only reason its here is to make money, meaning people will only do it if they really think they will win. So chance are people will go to the NPC check his price of the card for about a month and they will get a good idea of his range, then ever day after that they will come back and if its really low (like under 2K) they will know there onto a big winner and buy as many as they can, you mentanted them having a limit on how many they could by, but this will be easily overcomed with making a new player giving money to them and then they buy more, and they will just repete that, meaning very big amounts of money being won. The fact that the only reason you would want a ticket is to win money would mean they have no reason to buy unless they are sure it will go back up, meaning 80% of people will win on this.

I'm sorry to say but this idea wont work. If you want a way to gamble why not have a casino or lottery. Both of them can be done by players, well not players as they can cheat and pick out numbers so noone wins, but bots that are programed to be totally random, and the code could be set to entropy just to make sure it isn't a scam

I agree with you. I was thinking about the same thing. Make a lottery bot.
