No death is instant if you want to be technical.

Ya know what? Shut up :) lol. It can be if you get a futuristic alien matter materializer gun. Granted it is big enough to hit the entire body at one time so it doesn't take that tiny small and minute TERRA second between death. :D

I guess in order to be instant it should happen in a time period no bigger than the Plank's constant for time, which is a pretty small number :P

Obviously, only if the rate at which the blast radius envelopes you is faster than pain can travel through your CNS; then yes, in this instant, death would be painless.

1 Trillion seconds = 16,666,666,666 minutes and 40 seconds.

16,666,666,666 minutes = 277,777,777 hours, and 46 minutes.

277,777,777 hours = 11,574,074 days and 1 hour.

11,574,074 days = 31,688 years and 32 days (approximately - I assumed 365.25 for "clean" calculation (as such, no consideration was given to the century rule in the Gregorian calendar)).

so, 1 Terrasecond = 31,688 years, 32 days, 1 hour, 46 minutes, and 40 seconds = WAY longer than the normal human existence of approximately 75 years.

That would really suck if a nuke could take that long to kill someone - or maybe we should just start irradiating our cities now! ;)

...perhaps you wanted NANO or MICRO, or even MILLI?

Hmm... yeah, I intentionally said Milli after Micro - but now I have another name change! :D

Pico would work; Pi would not. :P

WTHeck is a "yoctosecond"?

death by atom bomb (gamma radiation alone evaropates your mass entirely) *is* painless - the radiation will pretty much go through you at the speed of light, and the CNS is much slower than that
