CVS b0rked?

Recommended Posts

Current CVS for me is a little wrecked. Im compiling with the following options:

OPTIONS=-DLINUX -DELC -DX86_64 -DNETWORK_THREAD

After login, the scene renders, then all actors disappear, the menus/buttons (sidebar holding quickbar, and the lower bar holding buttons) goes grey. I can switch to console, but leaving the client as-is (i.e. rendering etc) seg. faults.

I managed to get a GDB stacktrace/dump:

Received signal SIGABRT, Aborted.

Any ideas? Im running clean CVS (right before compiling I 'cvs up -dPCA') and im running on athlon64 (as you can see ;))

"\217" ???? that wouldn't be a legal character? That isn't a valid color either!

That part caught my eye, but I wasn't sure what char's are recognised and just assumed it was a colour.

Any ideas why the rest messes up?

Ok, if I change to a map without other players, I seem to be ok.

I've now got weird things happening (textures going mad) and im beginning to think its my computer....

Take a look:http://www.beplacid.com/el/bad_tex.jpg

[EDIT]

Running in GDB consistently shows /lib/libc.so.6 as causing problems:

Program received signal SIGABRT, Aborted.

There are two known bugs when -DNEW_FRUSTUM is used:

1. Particles will sometimes crash the client

2. Reflections on some maps appear where there isn't water (but there is water somewhere close to your vision on the map).

ive seen this happen with an old glibc, and the apps seemed to work fine after a cont;

But it only happened with threaded apps.

Try removing the NETWORK_THREAD's option, disable sound, And try again.

*edit

And sure enough i still have the backup around, its

/lib/libc.so.6
GNU C Library stable release version 2.2.5

I believe I have glibc 1.2.10? I'll recompile, removing the thread option and disabling sound.

Thanks for the reply Zeppy

That didn't work (disabling Sound, removing -DNETWORK_THREAD).

I've been compiling versions from 27th commit timestamps to see what might be causing it. However, all compilations from 27th worked, so its something commited later on... :-\

I'll keep trying...
