Kala Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Sure it wasn't satire? September is kind of early, they must enjoy wasting their money on advertising everybody will forget.
Kendai Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Nah, in terms of Christmas advertisements, September is late Christmas ads start sometime in June or July with "Christmas in the Summer" sales
Arnieman Report post Posted September 25, 2005 (edited) Every holiday is practically over commerciallized, and it seems they can't wait for one to end to start the next... and in some cases, they don't. As tragic as 9/11/2001 was, there's at least one thing I think came out of it good. People were too busy taking stock of what their lives really meant, and banding together (at least here in Ohio) that I don't think there were many holiday ads till November that year. roren Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Communism isnt evil, it's just never been executed properly. 203613 Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the idea of a communist government never meant to be for anything larger than a small village? This would explain why so many countries with communist governments didn't work out in the end. Arnieman Report post Posted October 3, 2005 The death of christ, and celebrating his ressurection. -_- most kids dont even know that is why christmas was created. 204442 I know from when I was young that I was taught of the true meaning of Christmas. I cannot remember a single night spent waiting for reindeer to pull a fat guy around the world - and yet, my CHRISTmases were still as rich, if not moreso, IMO. I apologize if I sound preachy, but the very Son of God means more to me than some fat guy in a red suit - or the commercialism we all endorse in the name of Santa. Kendai Report post Posted October 3, 2005 Teehee, I was just teasing Scarab, no worries ^_^ I do agree with you about the commercialization of Christmas, businesses do the same with every holiday, but Christmas is by far the worst. My favorite part about Christmas, ever since I was little? Getting together with my family on Christmas Day morning at my grandma's house and eating a traditional Swedish breakfast. The celebration of the birth of Christ and getting together with friends and family is truly what Christmas is all about. Now as for its origin, well... it's not as Christian-like as it may appear, having developed out of the need to replace the major pagan festivals. Jesus Christ was thought to be born in the spring anyway, it would make sense with the lambs and shepherds.
