Does not work for me, Why?

Recommended Posts

Edit: This is true of updated server now as well.

I can not use the test server and I fear the new client as well. I figure it is me and mine since I play current version with no problems whatsoever. What must I do to play new one.

I click link and get:

Vertex Arrays enabled (memory hog on!)...

Window size adjusted to 780x550

GL_ARB_mulittexture extension found, using it.

GL_EXT_compiled_vertex_array extension found, using it.

Coundn't find the GL_*_point_sprite extension, not using it...

GL_ARB_texture_compression extension found, using it.

GL_EXT_texture_compression_s3tc extension found, using it.

Couldn't find the GL_SGIS_generate_mipmap extension, not using it...

Shadowmapping disabled (need newer hardware)

Connecting to server

I get "Log In" screen. When I click either button I get:

"Developed using the Dev-C++ IDE has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Error Log:

Error: Can't open file "./textures/fontv.bmp"

No Anim: ./animations/player_slash1.caf

(a hundred more of the line: No Anim: ./animations/player_slash1.caf)

No Anim: ./animations/player_slash1.caf

No Anim: ./animations/canine_pain.caf

Error: Can't open file "./textures/particle5.bmp"

Error: Can't open file "./textures/particle6.bmp"

Error: Can't open file "./textures/particle7.bmp"

Error: Can't open file "quest.log"

System:

Windows XP

Celeron 2.60Ghz

256 Ram

32 Ram video

S3 Graphics ProSavage DDR

Anything else let me know.

Thanks for the great work you have all been doing and I hope remain living in EL.

I am greatfull for all input. Thanks.

I tried wipe and reinstall. Same effect.

My old video will not run the shadow mapping but runs the current (soon to be old) client great. So I am not sure if it is the problem or not.

I have the same video card as you, so if this is it i will have to

get a new card.... hate to have to get a new card just for EL, too

bad it could not stay the same, i had low FPS, but could play at

least.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's the same problem for me.

I can't even connect to the server.

I'm not sure it's my equipment or some kind of setting in my computer I need to change.

I uninstalled the old version. Then rebooted my computer. Then installed the new version.

I even went as far as to take everything of EL out of my computer, rebooted computer, then redownloaded the new client, then installed it, but to no avail. :icon13:

it's curently down again for some fixes. so wait a bit and try connecting in 10min or so

edit: it's back! (though while the new version is still being tested under load, similar may happen again)

Thanks a lot Ember, your help did work to clear the el error log,

but still get the error screen on log in. Going to try and reboot the

computer and turn off avg and firewall and see if that fixes it, if

not will have to get a new video card from a friend and try that.

I have made all the adjustments to get rid of error log. Now I get a blank error log after I try and log in. But it still shuts down saying "Developed using the Dev-C++ IDE has encountered a problem and needs to close."

This seems to happen for some reason on the SiS and some S3 cards. We have no idea why, as no developer has one of those cards. But we believe there is a problem with their OpenGL drivers.

Is it possible for you to get a new video card, such as one with an ATI or Nvidia chipset? They should be pretty cheap, 50 USD for a decent one.

That's my next plan.... going to get my friends old card that

i know will work good on EL. I have just been playing games

that would work with my built in card on the mother board.

Just have to wait for my friend to come by and get the card.

Thanks for the help.
