Began my studies

Recommended Posts

Greetings all,

Today was the first day on my new university - the Danish Technical University. I started the day on the software technology bachelor course, but had over the last week decided to switch to chemical engineering. So today I switched to chemical engineering and bought the books for this topic. It looks rough, but I'm confident I'll manage without too much hassle - I have so far anyway =)

Good luck you all with your studies.

Wow, Chemical Engineering, that sounds awsome!! Congratulations!

so.. what do chemical engineers actually do?

are you happy about changing courses?

well, I wish you good luck! And hope you have fun! ^.^

Chemistry is hard....but you are more than up to it, enjoy! (And study hard!)

Good luck... (you do realise that chemical engineering is arguably the hardest of all the engineering courses, right? :P) But whatever suits you. :P

Do they have any areas of specialisation? I'm presuming that polymers and biochemical applications are the 'hot' industries, now that petroleum's about to wind down...

Glad you found something that you enjoy, albeit a challenge :-)

What does Chemical Engineering involve? The 'engineering' part can sometimes seem quite abstract :-\

(Yeah I know, engineering chemicals? But that hardly gives it justice...)

Yay for finally seeing the light :P

After all, that's what all chemists look like, right? :P

Lyn - yea, I know that it's hard - we have the most scheduled hours this semester (30 hours a week + all the homework/studying). Still I think this is the most interesting bachelor line on my uni.

A chemical engineer works in many different places - could be a research facility or factory, as a scientist or leader, medicine, environmental research or of course teaching. There are many niches in chemistry like bio-chem, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical/quantum chemistry. Will find my niche over the next years :P

Could also work with things that doesn't directly have anything to do with chemistry - the university has a quite wide range of courses that we can choose from.

All the best of luck to you, Mr. Wytter :P My friend is in chemical engineering...*nervous chuckle*

I have a feeling you'll go far whatever you decide to do with it

G'luck! ^_^
