Weird shadow in DP

Recommended Posts

I was walking past a rock outcropping in DP, and noticed a bizarre shadow along the base. It's weird in that it goes all the way around the rock- the shadow is cast equally in all directions. Also- rather than taking the form of the rock, it seems to just follow the base in an angular way.

I don't know for sure that it's a map issue- I can't imagine what soft of mistake in map creation could casuse a thing like this, but it seems unlikely to be a software defect, so I though I'd start here.

The exact location is shown in the screen capture:

tee hee ^.^

That's because that 3d object's base(the bottom face/surface) is square. I believe that the shadows and the surface of 3do's have a binding with eachother, even if they are little under the tiles.

Let's see if this can be improved. Hmm, not easily, sorry. You can achieve nicer shadows using shadow mapping.
