hey any of you know good punk rock music?

Recommended Posts

Greenday, The Offspring and The Clash are my suggestions. If you like new wave you can listen Sum 41. I dont like them, but technically speaking have much better skills that all the older bands. Some people like also blink 182. From all of these I preffer the clash. Also Ramones are cool.

That depends...if everyone's a "bad" punk (i.e. a rebel), then it's not punk...it's trend (thank you Billy Joe Armstrong); so technically that would make "good" punk...

Confused? Then what the hell are you doing reading this topic...go away!

Anyway, on the topic at hand...

One of my two all-time favorite bands: Green Day. Now I don't give a flaming $#@*% if you're the type that goes off about "OMFG Green Day and Blink 182 are NOT PUNK!!!!113.17 their powerpop arrrgh" 'cause what you listen to is probably crap.

Lets see...quick run thru the couple of punk CDs on my desk at the moment...

American Idiot [Green Day] [amazingly good album, tells an interesting "story" too...]

Panic [MXPX] [Produced and featuring Mark Hoppus from Blink 182]

Let It Enfold You [senses Fail] [bit more hardcore punk, but still good]

Blink 182 [blink 182...duh] [definetely an alternative-punk revolutionist]

Other ones I can think of that are good punk/rock/alternative...

The Offspring

Jimmy Eat World

Relient K

Rufio

Simple Plan (again with the "power pop" thing)

Matchbook Romance

Sum 41

AFI

Iggy Pop (arguably the godfather of punk)

Hawthorne Heights

The Used

Sugarcult

Story of the Year

Taking Back Sunday

Rancid (ehh...good tunes, not so good voice)

The F-ups (YES!)

Also...if you get FUSE (channel 339 on DirectTV) be sure to watch Steven's Untitled Rock Show...just cause...well...he's the man :P

Jeez...I should probably get back to work now...have a nice day everyone :D

Simple Plan is punk...

 Best joke I've heard all day. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Unless the genre is way more superficial than advocates let off, wearing Etnies and having spasms while giggling like a school girl over getting a weekend of video tape of some guy meeting celebrities in scenarios only an idiot couldn't perceive as false does not make somebody a punk rock star.

But I'm just a poser.

:P man why does everyone loooooove bands with lots of polish in their songs??? come on people you are missing some of the most important bands of all! ahem...

The Ramones

The Sex Pistols

The Clash

Bad Religion

NOFX

Bad Brains

Lagwagon

Black Flag

Alkaline Trio

Tsunami Bomb

The Distillers

Coheed and Cambria

and dont forget NIRVANA

tuma named some other greats like Iggy & MXPX but my problem comes in at the part about senses fail, relient k, and hawthorne heights....senses fail is more of a metal band than punk (understatement intended).relient k's vocal and lyrical content is purely (omg the dreaded word!) pop. unfortunatly a new trend has started for kids who cannot choose between metal's screaming and punk's music and one of those bands is hawthorne heights.

greenday's older stuff is good but i am afraid that since mtv used them to make punk and hating the american government mainstream they have rather turned me off for now.

I say: forget them. Kurt Cobain was never alive. Novoselic's sweet band is not a big thingy, and I dont like Foo Fighters.
