So if I'm a level 13 manufacturer, I'd have to walk around with a battle hammer? No way! Or else, how would you see that I'm a level 13 harvester. Besides, I don't think you need to know. I don't want to be recognised as a level 36 harvester, level 0 mage. If someone wants to know, he can ask me or check the web site.

Nope, I don't like it...

well if that was the only thing that you did then yes but if you had like 30 combat then you could use a Steel Two Edged Sword, and with level requerments it also stop people getting given a realy good sword when they start from there friend ;)

NO

I think if you're good enough to earn a serpent sword, you should be able to use it. Don't tell me I can't use some sword just because I've spent all my time on harvesting and alch. Any idiot can use a sword, just some people are better with it than others.

yea that means you wont be able to use the swords but you will be able to use the best hammer with we maby not hit for as much but will be close and will make you better at harvesting :)

Ent didn't give people classes for the exact same reason. He didn't want it so that picking a class tells you what you can and can't do. What you're suggesting tells people what weapon they can have just because of their area of expertise.

yea but its not the same as classes you can still work on other things and with a lot of hard work you could use everything, but if you only wanted to stick to one or two the weapon you hold would help you out instead of only having a sword when harvesters or manufactors dont use them so they wont both getting them and they get no erta bounce so it make fighter the number one chose of how to play the game

Oh yes, so all I have to do is get all my stats to level 46 and I can use any weapon I choose! What could be easier?

Hardly anybody has all stats high enough for a complete choice of weapons. Also, manufacturers would be stuck with hammers, which do a lot of damage but rarely hit. You're just compensating by making all the weapons the same, so that they all might as well be the same weapon type. The idea is that all weapon types are equal, but they have unique properties, so that people can choose a weapon, and that affects their experiences.

thats what iv keeped the weapons as. they are all equal but the have differences, the only thing i want to change is to make it so fighter use sword mages use staffs and so on. which is realist because you dont see many fighters walking around with wands or mages with hammer lol 8)

and as for me telling them what they can and cant do, well thats need i think because you cant cast every spell on level 0 magic or summon every creature on level 0 summoning, you have to work hard to get better so as you get better you can use the more weapons its just common sence :)

Those are stereotypes really. A staff can be a good weapon for fighting, and is in fact a harder weapon to master than a sword. Also, in morrowind, i have a mage that uses swords and spears.

Also, that is because your magic lvl is your proficency with magic, whereas attack and combat are not necessarily your proficiency with weapons.

yea but a sword hits hard which is what fighers want and wands are meant to be more magic like  ps entropy i would like to hear what you thing and other people as well 8)

I still don't like giving extra benefits based on experience combined with some weapon. That's what exp does already, help you fight better. And I don't want to be forced to use a certain weapon. If a newb decides he's better off killing bunnies with a titanium serpent sword, and somehow manages to get it, then so be it.

well the benefits well be invisable so you wont be able to summon a bear on level 43 if you had a Steel Plated Wand it just makes it easyer to summon a Puma, which should be there because a wand has some sort of magic in it that helps you out. will you already get forced into what you can and cant do already, eg if you chose to harvest then you cant get to level 40 and then deside that you want to kill a bear because you have alot of gold, it doenst work like that you have to train in a skill and then that skill give you benefits in that skill you shouldnt be able to train in harvesting and get lots of gold then have a Titanium Serpents Sword that give you an advantage over all the newbies that start training on fighting

Ok, so now we can use similar weapons! Wait, I have an even better idea! How about making it so we can use any weapon we want!

Its fine the way it is, except that there needs to be more weapons, and they need to be balanced (and by balanced i mean different but equal, not all the same).

Giving people skill advantages doesn't make sense. Holding a sword doesn't mean I'm a better fighter, it just means that it hurts the other guy more when they are hit. Likewise, holding a big stick doesn't make me smarter, it just serves as a crutch when i'm injured.
