Windows Compilation Guide

That error basicly means that the executable needs to be linked against OpenGL. What compiler/linker are you using? If you are not using Makefile.win, did you make sure to specify all the ncessary libraries in the project options?

 

I'm using BloodShed DEV-Cpp compiler, v4.9.9.2. I've spiecified the makefile.win file instead of compiler and linker parameters. I've just followed the Emajekral's guide, updated with kl4Uz instructions, so I didn't even look inside that file. Libraries i've got so far:

 

zlib

libpng

libjpeg

libtiff

sdl_images

Cal3d

libiconv

libxml

sdl-1.2.8

oggvorbis

OK, i've managed to get over this. I had to create the project in the same directory as cvs files. But here's another problem, that what happens after ctrl+F9 (compile):

There're a lot of such errors. As before, i don't know where are they come from.

Nevermind, I made it after deleting all old *.o files.

managed to compile, but the effects are not working. even the spell effects i get on the standard client are not working :D anything i might be doing wrong?

@fool: You may have forgotton to tell Dev-C++ to use Makefile.win instead of creating its own one, or you may have forgotten to copy make.defaults to make.conf.

did those things, seems the effects are working cos the console gives a lot of messages of 'summon effect created'.. but as soon as i log on, game crashes and i get this error..

the warnings you don't have to worry about, so the only problem is that file including itself... which seems to have happened with dev-cpp before... not sure what the solution was then, but if you can edit the file to remove '#include "aisyclient_private.rc"' form line 4, it should help (unless the file is re-created with problems by dev-cpp)

Edit: I can't get the eye candy or any particles to work either, and I did the same things, I specified Makefile.win as well and followed everyone's directions.

did those things, seems the effects are working cos the console gives a lot of messages of 'summon effect created'.. but as soon as i log on, game crashes and i get this error..

I commented about eye_candy because I had a working compiled client yesterday but it didn't have any eye_candy features. For that matter, all of the normal effects like particles, smoke, etc, weren't working either. So I have been trying to follow everybody's instructions how to include all the appropriate eye_candy files and now have no working client with these errors.

Aislinn, try to delete all *.o files in your project directory. Even better, delete the whole project, create new one. Double check the 'Makefile.win' option under alt+p compiler parameters. Also check the makefile.win, redownload it -- that helped me few times.

Both of you:

 

Update. Then make sure that DOXYGEN_SKIP_THIS is *not* set, and ELC *is* set. Remember: case sensitive. Let me know if that helps. If not, I'll probably need to put in some debugging statements to try and figure out what's going wrong with actors for you.

 

Please build with both SFX and EYE_CANDY. Be sure to include all the cpp files in your build.

Did you make a copy of make.defaults file, and after that renamed it to make.conf?

1. FPS outside the storage in Tarsengaard are very low like 9-12 -- usually 80-120fps.

2. The debug window... any easy way to disable it? :confused:

I tried another plan. I did not use Makefile.win, instead I used the paramaters option in Project Options.

 

I plugged into Compiler:

-Wall -DELC -DAFK_FIX -DAUTO_UPDATE -DBUG_FIX_3D_OBJECTS_MIN_MAX -DCOUNTERS -DCUSTOM_LOOK -DCUSTOM_UPDATE -DEYE_CANDY  -DFONTS_FIX -DMINIMAP -DNEW_ACTOR_ANIMATION -DNEW_FRUSTUM -DNEW_TEX -DNOTEPAD  -DOPTIONS_I18N -DPNG_SCREENSHOT -DSFX -DSIMPLE_LOD -DUSE_INLINE

 

And plugged into Linker:

 -mwindows -lSDL -lopengl32 -llibxml2 -lSDL_net -lALut -lOpenAL32 -lvorbisfile -lvorbis -logg  -liberty -liconv -lcal3d -lcal3d_extra -lglu32 -lm -lstdc++ 

 

This gave me a compiled client but missing all eye_candy effects, and all normal effects. What am I missing?

-DEYE_CANDYis the only option needed to turn it on.

I can only presume that it's not building with those options.

Check your output; something's not right.

 

I'll once again state that -DEYE_CANDY is all that's needed. If you're not getting eye candy built in, then your compiler is not using -DEYE_CANDY.

 

Oh, and check your preferences menu. It may be in, but just turned off.

could there be a compiler section for C and one for C++?

or could individual files have settings, which over-ride the global ones? (I know this has been a problem for MSVC before, so it's possible)
