Recommended Posts

I'm not gonna make this a poll since there's too many great bands to list but who do ya'll think are the best 80's rock bands? I gotta go with Guns N Roses,Scorpions, and Def Leppard...I know I'm missing one band and it's on the tip of my tongue but I can't think of em atm...

EDIT: Ashamed to say I forgot Ozzy....meh

:) You mean to tell me that people think actual music was made in the 80's??

B) Hah, just kidding... But I had to rebutt the anti-rap banter in the rap thread. Actually, I really liked a couple of Scorpions, some Styx, Pantera... "Sweet Child of Mine", "Patience", "Welcome to the Jungle", (even if it's a little overplayed during the football season), "Winds of Change", the list goes on...

The_pale_elf's post reminded me of one more band that really rocked!

Twisted Sister (1 hit wonders maybe but I still have the album)

Did anyone say KISS yet? (I got a pic with two guys at a holloween party in Minnesota and I can swear they really looked like the members of kiss)

I will post them if you guys want :P

A few days late on the post but... ALL of the above :)...Totally Rock...Slayer and Pantera was the big influence in my life as was all of the above...but i was a bit more deeper in the twisted way of life....The Death scene...i loved my CANDLEMASS...:) although i hate opera the sound of the human voice is awesome, especially when it is mixed with Death Metal.

For those about to ROCK...I salute you B)

Metallica is very nice, but Boy and War from U2 were milestones at that time, and still among my all time favorite albums, best 80s overall:

U2 :P

ytmv. :D

Ugh, a hard one... But it'd probably be a close run between U2, Metallica and Pantera...

I agree with all of the above as, but I have to say...Smashing Pumpkins???? I do not consider them an 80s band lol....I listened to music in the 80s (graduated high school in 1988). You guys forgot Duran Duran, Huey Lewis, Bon Jovi, Queen, boy lots of them lol.

Although they are predominantly 70's - PINK FLOYD were still on the go in the early 80's - a great band with lots of inspirational music

Favourites include Dark Side of the Moon and of course The Wall
