you just have to know which port game needs to host multiplayer, and forward in on your router to your machine(PC). it is easy ass hell :) find a manual for your router and read it:P

the_pala_elf, i dont know..where can i see?

----------------------------Settlers Read me------------------

- In order to be able to play "Heritage of Kings - The Settlers" via the

Internet, you have to open Port 7073.

- If you are firewall-protected, you have to configure the firewall.

Please ensure that the firewall enables outgoing connections to the

IP-addresses 216.98.52/24 via the ports TCP/6668,40000-42999 UDP/41006,44000,

45000,45001. Also, please check for updates on ubi.com.

- Please remember that Windows XP Service Pack 2 contains a firewall.

Lessee... the cable or DSL comes into a box, typically a cable modem or dsl router. That one is supplied by your phone or cable company, (or at least, it is here). That box doesn't matter.

From there, it should connect to a router, maybe Linksys, or NetGear or 3Com or something... Or maybe your computer connects directly to the cable modem/dsl router. If it connects directly, then you don't have a router to configure.

PC |--------| Router? |---------| Cable Modem |----------| Internet

EDIT: (Damn forum smegged up my ASCII art)

So if you find that you don't have a router between your computer and your cable modem, check your computer for programs like Zone Alarm, Nortin Internet Security, etc. Also go into control panel if you have WinXP SP2, and in classic view you should see "Windows Firewall" as an option. Turn it off. Whether Windows recommends it or not!

Or maybe the router has a hardware firewall built in, you'll need to configure it.

Edit: and if you turn your firewall off to play, turn it back on after, or you'll have tons of problems.

Best try to configure it to allow you to play but to be still on.

Okay, here's hoping you've got a Linksys, since I've configured a buncha those...

No user name. Leave it blank. Password should be admin.

Once you enter that, if it's a Linksys, you'll see a configuration page for your router. Flip through some of the tabs if you like... "Advanced", "Forwarding" should be what you're looking for... Lemme know if this fits so far.
