The cause: Cancer Research UK and USA In the UK 1 in 3 people will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime. While survival rates are getting better all the time, we still lose too many people to this horrible disease. In the USA, according to the cancer research data – 1 in 4 deaths are due to cancer. Money raised from this raffle will be split equally between Cancer Research UK and the American Cancer Society. The choice to split it came because, while I do not believe one does better work than the other, it gives most players the chance to feel like they are donating close to home. Cancer is something most of us have been, or will be, touched by at some point in our lives. My Mum and my Uncle both made a full recovery, but I do remember the fear and confusion I felt as I was only 16 when my mum was diagnosed. My dad lost his battle with cancer in 2008, just 6 weeks after the diagnosis. As players we have all lost some wonderful and truly amazing people from game, I will not name any as I would hate to miss anyone off the list accidentally, we all know who they are and we still talk about them all the time. And there are players now who are fighting hard, showing us all what true strength is. It is for all these reasons that we made the change of charity this year. The Timeframe: Last day to purchase tickets for the lottery is Saturday August 16th, 12 pm BST. The drawing will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 6PM, BST (find your time zone). The drawing will take place inside the White stone City Palace which can be found in White Stone City [38,731] and will be announced in both local and channel 7. A winners list will be posted in this thread. I know the raffle usually takes place in July, but I will not be able to give it my full attention at this time due to family commitments. The rules: Raffle tickets are $5 US each. To participate: · Send me a forum PM with your real name or transaction code and dollar amount of donation. · This year we are only able to accept ticket purchases via PayPal. But do not worry, you do not have to have a PayPal account to participate, just a debit/credit card and click the button below and follow the instructions. Be sure to include your EL username in the message section. The Drawing: Winners will be selected by lottery. For every $5 a person donates, they will get one "ticket" for the drawing. The drawing will take place using the list randomizer at http://random.org/ with the list being one entry of a ticketholder's name per ticket they hold. Prizes will be awarded in the order they are picked, prize 1 goes to the first draw, prize 2 to the second, etc... If you have won a prize, please contact Guild *PR* or myself to collect. Prizes will be handed out for 1 month following the Raffle, please contact us during that time to receive your prize. Prizes not collected within a month following the raffle will be kept for future raffles or donated for contests. We will probably ask you to come to Naralik storage. If you are less than Def 26, please let us know and we will meet you elsewhere. How can I help? Help us gather prizes! All types of items can be used as prizes, so consider donating something we can use as prizes. Or put together a guild project to make prizes for the raffle. All donations of items will go directly into prizes either as you give it, or by using it to mix into something bigger if that’s agreed upon beforehand. If you'd like to donate ingredients for mixing, we will hold them and make them available to those who would like to mix - if you'd like to mix, feel free to ask us if we have some of the ingredients you need that have been donated by others. You can donate to any member of *PR* or Dragon_Witch in EVTR using the “/Dragon_Witch donate” command, if you donate to Witchy, please leave me a Mercator message or forum pm. Sponsor a pre-raffle contest. Contests in game help us announce the raffle and encourage more people to participate. Put together a contest and use it to announce the raffle. Also, on raffle day you can help us hand out prizes, announce winners and all kinds of things. Just let us know if you'd like to help!
