    I have tried everything I can think of. I am not an expert Linux user, but I have read many forums and help files. None seem to work for me.

    I have Ubuntu 14.04 LTS With 32-bit OS.

    I am having trouble playing El on Ubuntu.I belive it installed okay. I go to my games folder but the .bin file isn't executable. I have been trying for several days now, have read multiple forums and tried many things suggested. None of them work for me.I am really anxious to get back into playing EL. I've been away waaayyy to long, lol.I did this to install EL:
    How to install Eternal Lands
    Ubuntu Packages
    Open a command line terminal then enter the following commands:
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pjbroad/ppa
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install eternallands
    This will install the client and data packages, and normally, the sound package too. If the sound package is not included but you want it, use:
    sudo apt-get install eternallands-sound
    Additionally, if you want the music use:
    sudo apt-get install eternallands-music
    That part seemed to work.
    First I was receiving error that el.x86.linux.bin was an Unknown file type. I then moved file to another folder so I could mark it as executable file and I was getting same error messages. I did some upgrades and got this message When i double click on el.x86.linux.bin i get this error: Invalid url: '/home/owner/Documents/el.x86.linux.bin' given, exiting
    No ':' in the uri
    I have tried chmod commands in terminal but it always says : This file does not exist or can't find el.x86.linux.bin etc.

    I even tried this: chmod +x file-name.run
    Now you can execute the file in the terminal.
    ./file-name.run
    If an error message including a problem such as 'permission denied' appears, use sudo to run it as root (admin). Be careful, sudo allows you to make critical changes to your system. Many software installs will require sudo.
    sudo ./file-name.run
    owner@owner-OptiPlex-745:~$ chmod +x el.x86.linux.bin

    Heyas there,

    My characters name is Sweettea of course, and My Ip seems to be banned even tho I have not done anything. I was reading the rules on how to be white listed. I have cricket as my internet provider and they do not provide email addresses. So the only emails I have are @msn, @yahoo, and @gmail. As those may not qualify I was wondering is the only way I can get white listed is to go get a credit card and make a donation? Is there any other way to be white listed is the point of this post. Any other way at all? I would really like to get back in the game so any help would be much appreciated!!

    I couldnt even find any port 2000 or port anything in any of my el files. i turned off firewalls and gave access for 2000 in exceptions etc. and i was on about 3 different wifi connections in different areas of the city. I was trying to find port 2000 in my el.ini files to make sure it was set correctly and couldnt find anything about any ports and i searched all the el files i could. I really do want to play tho. i have been waiting for this for over a year almost 2. Im gonna try again later. Im in class right now. think they frown on me playin games in class or downloading games either lol. Which i shall do again. and i am in a different location so im hopin it might work today.

    I have been trying for hours to connect to El. I have been thru the forums. I have redownloaded el like atleast 6 times. And Nothing is working. I got me a Lap top finally and the first thing I go to download is EL. Think im gonna cry. I have turned off the firewall and such. But for whatever reason I cant connect. I only get as far as the rules page. I cant even find the umm ports. So i cant check them. and I have been all up and down my el files.

    One of my favorites would have to be Shamara! thats who first came to mind while reading this thread. But then other names started to pop up. Soo many.. MagpieLee was my bestest exploring buddy for the longest time. Cant forget Dejan, Stalag, Anthro, RallosZek and Kirianthis \o/ Oh my so many favorites I dont know what to do, lol. But they always had my back when I was in need. Even a few hugs every now and again :D Good times!

    All politicians are liars anyway. Don't matter who I vote for. My vote didn't count last two elections since I always voted Not Bush!. I might vote for Hillary just cause she's a chick or Obama cause he's handsome (For a politician anyway!). And that kid who made the remark about homeless people being lazy was very rude and close minded. Hit close to home for me so I was irked when I read that statement. Anyways voting is just trying to pick the lesser of two evils. I doubt any politician cares about, mine or what we need or want. I will vote just for the fun of it. Sorta like gambling...

    you are all posting not only the first guild, but the whole story:) so will I :P

     

    SILK - I don't remember how I've joined that, I only remember Kedan, Gampa, Grymauch, Shallara (she was already in Riva I think) from those times, we were doing some huge iron bar and HE projects, but some of noobs (including me) were more of a burden, not real help :)

     

    RIVA - SILK got disbanded, I had a break from the game. When I came back, joined RIVA, since SILK was Riva's second squad or something like that

     

    LT - met more Lithuanian players and created it. First members were me, Yourevel, Deaa, zudikas and some more. I'm still in LT, and still its guildmaster :)

     

     

    I am so hurt! :(

    I have had a guild project HyperBag "vanish" before. It only took a short time and it was all gone, lol. So no, I would never take someones bag. I have found a few hyper bags in my day and always closed them back up or found the owner.

    When I started out some short time ago, I wanted to be able to make all that I needed so I got into Manu. I did a lil fighting and got restore spell so I starting potioning to make my own Srs, lol. And then I wanted pps so I started fighting even more. Now I just harvest, chat and once in awhile I will mix/manu/potion a thing or two. My fav skill is still potioning. Oh yeah, and I also wanted to be rich in gc! But since I have never had more than 30k at one given time, I have given that dream up as well.

    I actually found this quite interesting. But I don't saee a mention of say how it may effect younger kids differently than older people. Like this statement

    How many 10 year olds play poker for hours at a time? Or go to a pub even O.O lol. Thats the only thing that worries me about the net really. Is how it will and can impact younger minds and certain situations before they actually have experienced it in the Real World and the first impressions they can get from it as well as how that effects their expectations etc.

     

    But that's just my two cents :o

    PoF are a pain to make always have been. I did consider myself a potionist but that's one potion I refused to mix (had bad experience with them >.<). I probably will never make another PoF even if Mira's Prices were raised, lol. That would not be fun though :) I wouldn't buy PoFs either. I have too much leather and fes to buy :wacko: But I would find a way around whatever comes.
