  1. Poll options 1 and 3 seem to have been addressed already, 2 has been touched upon by Nogrod.

Option 4, selective maps, might be far more coding than people realise (can only think of two people who could definitely answer that), so it might be a non-option.

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet is a possible option 5: Add to the set of mods who can change #day. That could mean just the most senior mod, or some of them, or perhaps a new mod command solely for changing a Peace Day to an Ordinary Day (to prevent abuse by a nefarious mod). (The advantage of a moderator being able to remove the day being that they can provide blue spam warning to prevent the scenarios revi mentioned.) My guess is that a new mod command could be far less involved than exempting selective maps from the effects of a day, but it's only a guess.

  2. revi makes a good point.

My guess is that for equipment that currently correctly participates in the equipment swap behaviour if you fix the item list now it'll be ok after the server restart. In addition to those items, the ninja tunic, wholam and used blue dragon shield (which currently don’t equipment swap) will continue to work after restart. For the pre-owned tit axe and HoA it seems theres not much point fixing on an item list until the server restart, might be others but i haven't thought of a way to check yet. And i'm not sure about the Mod Cloak, but not much use to us mere mortals anyway.

Kind of depends how far away you think the server restart is, and how much you want your item lists to correctly show the appropriate item, and whether you can reverse any changes you make if you screw things up :D

  3. Long time lurker, rare times commenter…

    A few things…

First, personally, I am not fond of the stalls. I have no issue with them aesthetically, i just find they make getting into acceptable trading range of a bot slightly more fiddly, and I often find EL a bit finicky when trying to get my char to stand on precisely the tile i want.

As for the stalls Aislinn mentioned, the type that i find the worst for requiring camera angle adjustment are the type with a canvas(?) roof, like the EVTR General Store. That was the type i pictured in my head when she mentioned the bots in PL, I had to go there and check after Burn called them horse stables. Whatever the structure, a roof over a stall is a pain. As for bot owners placing them under a non market stall… I had the impression that bot owners didn’t have completely free choice when picking place so maybe they had to compromise, or who knows what other factor affected that choice.

With regard to trading with high camera angle that Diealot mentioned, maybe he didn’t look closely enough at the image to notice there would be no problem with high angle on those particular stalls, or maybe he was concerned that they could be changed to stalls with a canvas (or otherwise) roof. It was stated that decor could still change.

Maybe what he was thinking of was that structure behind Burn (and his bot) in that pic might obstruct clicking on a bot placed in the next position along (counterclockwise from bot then Burn), although that obstruction would be made worse by a low camera angle not a high one *shrug*

As to possibility of blocking chars, I can’t speak to those particular kind of stalls, but I have experienced players being pinned in stalls when a char stands either side of the bot. Saw it a number of times in the old Zirakgunda cave before it’s current form, and that place wasn’t exactly busy compared to around MM battle hall at instance time. The wooden structure in that pic look like they are 1x3 tiles in size (the bench in front on the bot, with something larger behind them) so I presume the same could happen.

On the matter of the low wall around the whole area, visually I have no issue, but practically speaking it’s a bottleneck that increases chance of chars trying to walk the same path and causing the couple of seconds watching my char stand still while trying to decide which path is not obstructed when the obstacles (other players) are moving through the same area.

And just to agree with Diealot on something, i too would, given the choice, walk a few extra steps to trade with a bot out in the open than one behind a stall! :)

  4. Launch Console, and look under Reports, ~/Library/Logs, DiagnosticReports, and then for an EternalLands log with appropriate date/time (assuming they haven't rearranged stuff in that os version)

  5. If it works connecting to test server but not main server, then it still seems likely something about the configuration. maybe move el.ini and el.cfg out of main folder so el creates fresh ones and see if it works then.

(i'm assuming that …/main/ is the config directory that your el is using, if you've changed things to something else then substitute whatever config folder is appropriate).

This is where seeing the stack trace info would be really helpful :)

  6. I haven't used p8, so maybe this doesn't apply anymore but…

First thing worth checking is that 'Disable Gamma Adjustment' (Options->Video) is enabled (ie, that the game will not try to adjust gamma). If the game wont run long enough for you to adjust the setting then try editing your el.ini file (~/Library/Application Support/Eternal Lands/main/el.ini) and check for a line with:

    #disable_gamma_adjust= 0

and if it is then change it to

    #disable_gamma_adjust= 1

I'm not sure if it's related to the previously reported issued but the 1.9.5 client does not work on the 10.14.6 macOS

I am reasonably certain this will be due to EL trying to adjust the display gamma at launch time. There is an option to prevent the game doing that which should solve that issue…

Enable the option Disable Gamma Adjustment (Options » Video » Disable Gamma Adjustment).

  8. Alternative behaviour when using with FR cape: faster acp regen.

    I quite like this idea.

Added benefit: miserly mixers (wearing arti or ps(?) cloak (depending on what they mix)) would have a reason to wear something that warranted a rosto while they mixed. just add toads and time and… a brick for the castle.

  9. The item_info.txt file hasn't been fully updated yet…

I traded someone a Unicorn dung and trade log showed:

      --> 1 image_id=690 id=1162

    item_info.txt has

        1162 | 473 | 3 | Unicorn Dung

473 is the image id of plain old brown dung, 690 is the image id of the rainbow coloured dung.

I haven't checked via trading with someone, but the popup tooltips don't display for many (all?) of the items that have new images so the image id of all the changed items may be out of date.

  10. OK the zip file available here works for at least one other person (besides me):

https://drive.google.com/file/d/18cnJpEJNh-oAskYUc0PDx6dKs3fDQ2_Y/view?usp=sharing (ignore googles "whoops", just click the blue download button)

Download and unzip it somewhere and see if it at least runs. (If you don't know how to get it to connect to test server pm me).

There seems to be a problem already in that it doesn't find GL_EXT_compiled_vertex_array extension which seems a slight ;) performance issue.

(And yes, it uses a blocky EL icon at the moment. priorities!)

  11. OK, i got this to build and run without crashing very late last night.

Built with Xcode 9.2. I’d very much like to know a little more info about what Sir_Odie is using…

Busy with work today, will try and get this uploaded as soon as I can.

Strangely, my build of it seems to crash (at least sometimes) in SDL_SetGamma which i avoided as my own el.ini disable that. I might comment that out in the code before I upload it.

  12. While i’ve personally got no time/interest/resources for pk, the idea sounds possibly helpful. One of the grievances i most remember hearing from lower lvl chars is when (near)maxed chars walk in and end their fun. With the capped areas thoughtfully placed it might help lessen that issue.

I can’t speak to how much is involved on server side to make the change but if it is relatively simple, i don’t see why not try it for a few updates. If it fails miserably reverse the change. What’s wrong with a bit of experimentation if it doesn’t create lasting irreversible problems?

(Now waiting for someone to point out why it would cause lasting devastation to even briefly try it out.)

  13. I would really like to see Luxin counter as part of #ach output as well.

Having him ask before giving you the powerup would be nice as well. I often click to take a harv powerup then click again thinking I'll get another harv powerup but of course I wind up taking a manu powerup instead. At least i end up saving the ings on an FE crit fail or something low like that :)

According to the update note http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=59937each manu powerup subtracts 2 Daritha and 2 Luxin dailies from the respective counter. What can catch people out is that you need a minimum of 5 (I could be off on that qty) on your counters to be eligible.

The next time i grab two or more of those powerups I will try and remember to check those quantities are still correct.

  14. In the Finder, press Command Shift G and paste the path:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Eternal Lands

that should get you there. Back up everything in that folder just in case, but as with LittleLooter I dont expect you'll have any issues.
