  1. Update

Wait, when are you thinking of having the next release? In the next few days? I did not realize it was so close. Well, Florian is still having random crashes now and then, but that is to be expected I suppose. The Mac stuff will all get ironed out in time.
  2. That's what I was thinking for Mac. Just add extra executable scripts to the install, one for each server. Hmm.... I might be able to pull this off. Yeah, I could make an executable script I guess, but the script would have to be in the same location as the game itself (since EL for OS X does not get put into a registry file or anything like that).
  3. Ugg.... Now, to think of a way of managing this on a Mac.
  4. Macintosh OS X client 1.4.0 bugs thread

The currently available build was made without the notes flag. The next release will have it available.
  5. Default build options for next release

Because its unfinished and has problems with loads of video cards iirc. Afaik 0ctane had found a range of problems with it under Mac, but I could be wrong about that too. Yes, on Macs, it depends on the combination of options. Plus, I think it has problems on some integrated Intel graphics too.
  6. Default build options for next release

Yeah. Although SKY_FPV_CURSOR is nice, it is not working (completely) properly yet on Macs.
  7. Current CVS errors

This one isn't mine so I'll leave it for Xaphier. Yeah, I get this one too on my MacBook Pro. Apple does not seem to update their drivers too frequently. I made appropriate changes to load_gl_extensions.h for this.
  8. So far, things are running nicely on my MacBook Pro. I have a few comments. First, the rain sound increasing in volume as the storm gets stronger is great. However, the rain animation suddenly cuts out (leaving the sound running) instead of gradually fading out. I have seen this problem for a while, and I know it is not really related to your sound code. Second, I think 5 people for a crowd is a bit too few. It would be better if there was an additional level of sound. For 5 people maybe a little chatter. For 15 people do the current crowd noise. Sorry, I know this is more work for you Torg.
  9. Current CVS errors

Florian, Are you using my framework? I have it built against the stable 0.11.0 release. I noticed problems with the SVN, but 0.11.0 seems happy. I agree with Learner. Maybe we need (eek) a CAL3D_SVN define.
  10. Current CVS errors

Since it seems like many people are using the SKY_FPV_CURSORS define, I gave it a try. It looks awesome (at first) but I also lose reflections. Compiled without FPV, reflections on: Scene and actors reflect fine with shaders. Compiled with FPV, reflections off: Obviously no reflections, but water is very bright. Compiled with FPV, reflections on: Still no reflections (although turned on), and water has become brown (reflecting early morning sky?). I still get the harsh shadowing from the environment, although actor shadows are soft.
  11. Current CVS errors

Going along with my previous post about random textures in the water, I just compiled with SKY_FPV_CURSORS, and I notice the sky is rotating through textures also. It is nighttime in game, so I don't know exactly what is going on. Also, it seems like with SKY_FPV_CURSORS, I no longer get reflections in the water, which might be related. My bad: [11:44:26] File './textures/clouds.bmp' not found [11:44:26] File './textures/cloud_detail.bmp' not found [11:44:26] File './textures/cloud_detail_alpha.bmp' not found [11:44:26] File './textures/moonmap.bmp' not found [11:44:26] File './textures/BrightSun.bmp' not found Where can I get these? Found them.
  12. Okay, I got some good news for OSX. Florian, please check out the new code. ALUT_WAV is not needed, but you will need to include the AudioToolbox.framework. I can hear the environmental sounds. This relies on OS X 10.4 OpenAL, so I do not know how well it will work for the 10.3.9 folks, but I have been dropping support for them anyhow (sorry).
  13. Current CVS errors

Yeah, I have to use all the standard Apple libraries since I cannot depend on people having installed additional software. This is one reason that I no longer use fink or opendarwin, since I cannot afford to have my libraries all messed up when deploying a product.
  14. Help support a good cause & win prizes

Hmm.... this looks familiar.... Count me in.
  15. Current CVS errors

Xaphier was telling me a while ago (right after the 1.4 release) that regular shadows were going to be no longer supported, and that everyone would need shadow mapping in order to do shadows. That thread is similar, although the weird textures are only showing up for water reflections in my case. It seems to rotate through various texture files. Sometimes I see faces, sometimes flag emblems, sometimes books, ....
  16. Current CVS errors

I have not been using SKY_FPV_CURSOR, but I have shaders working. The problem on my Mac (x386) is a bit complicated, as the following screenshots will hopefully illustrate. With reflections turned on, but water shader quality at 0: Hopefully you see that the terrain not affecting the reflection calculation is gone, poof. Now, if I turn water shader quality to 1 or 2, reflections and the terrain appear just fine. Here is at 2: Woohoo! So, I just need to make sure that water shader quality != 0 (or someone needs to fix the underlying problem). Now with shadows turned on (w/o shadow mapping), I get random textures appearing in the water: However, if I turn on shadow mapping: Unfortunately, even though the shadows seem to work, they do not blend properly with the water environment. They are very harsh, and look very peculiar when it is raining. Still, it is progress...
  17. Current CVS errors

Okay, I got everything built. Just so that everyone knows, my attempts at using the cal3d SVN failed with segfaults on login (similar to a problem Pardu had a while ago). I was able to grab the official 0.11.0 codebase and build it. Now, to figure out the audio stuff for OS X. =)
  18. Testing out the new models

Can you put a linked post at the end of this thread and close the thread at that time?
  19. Current CVS errors

Is no one else seeing this error: /Users/jeff/programs/el_osx/elc/font.c:1036: error: 'zoom_level' undeclared (first use in this function) Shouldn't draw_scene.h be included in font.c since it has the extern call? Also, I had to add #include "global.h" to reflection.c in order for it to find cur_time. Otherwise, I got it to build. Adding the readShort as Grum suggested seemed to work. Now, to test it out....
  20. Current CVS errors

I asked Torg about this problem before posting to this thread. My C++ has gotten rusty since I started coding in Objective-C. Yes, I updated to Cal3D 0.11 (well, I actually grabbed the SVN). Maybe Xcode (the Mac IDE) is more picky about OOP. Unless xaphier has any better ideas, I will try out your readShort code.
  21. Macintosh OS X client 1.4.0 bugs thread

We have a few other people with MacBooks who connect without trouble. You may want to check your internet settings. Are you using a proxy? What is the error message that is displayed? Are there any additional error messages in your error_log.txt file? You can find that file in /Users/<your name>/Library/Application Support/Eternal Lands.

The Society provides funding for research, public and professional education, patient aid, and community service programs. It is estimated that leukemia and related cancers will strike approximately 114,530 Americans this year and kill 54,480. Globally, the numbers are vastly higher. Thanks to research funded by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the survival rate for the most common form of childhood leukemia has improved from 4% in 1960 to over 80% today. I have joined a very special Team in Training group of more than 35,000 volunteers nationwide. I am competing in an olympic length triathlon for a reason much more important than the personal challenge of completing these events. As members of the Team, we participate on behalf of local patients and survivors and are raising funds to battle blood cancers. The rules: Lottery tickets are $5 US each. If you want to participate, you need to 1) send me a forum PM with your real name and dollar amount of donation, and 2) make your donation at http://www.active.com/donate/tntsoh/JeffWilson. You must do 1 & 2 in that order to prevent someone else from claiming to having made the donation. Attempting to claim someone else's donation will get you banned from EL. The prize list may increase before the drawing, but it will not decrease. The winners: Winners will be chosen by lottery. For every $5 a person donates, they will get get one ticket. I will physically put the tickets in a hat (or maybe a box depending on number of participants) and draw them out. Or might use a random number generator if there a LOT of tickets. Yes, you will have to trust me. I will videotape the drawing and post it online for the very suspicious folks (but you already trust me as an EL developer, right?). In the order that the names are drawn, the winners will get to choose among remaining prizes. Winning one prize does not preclude you from winning another. Remember, this is a charity fundraising event that just happens to have prizes as an incentive. The money goes to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Donations are tax deductable in the US. If you do not like the terms, don't participate. This event has been sanctioned by Entropy, who has graciously donated the bronze armor. Prizes 3-6 come from my 2 years of playing EL. Prizes 6 & 7 were donated by my brother, Awn. Prizes 8-13 donated by LabRat. #14 donated by Learner (no joke). Medallions of Life donated by ryddler. #16 anonymously donated. #17 donated by Shallara. #18 donated by the LGC guild. #19 donated by LoneWolfStrider. Additional donations to the prize list will be accepted. Last day to purchase tickets for the lottery is August 1. The drawing will be held on August 3 at 9 PM Eastern time, USA. A winners list will be posted in this thread. Prizes will be "hand delivered" in-game. For more information on The Society or the Team in Training program, please visit the following websites: www.lls.org/soh www.teamintraining.org/soh [edit] If you do not have a credit card, you can also donate via paypal. Since paypal takes 4%, I would prefer that you donate straight to http://www.active.com/donate/tntsoh/JeffWilson, but I understand that this is not possible for everyone. See post #8 regarding donating via Paypal.
  23. Support a good cause & win big prizes

Well, I am back from the 2007 Walt Disney World Triathlon. My swim was good. My bike was very good (over 18mph). My run was pathetic. The temperature spiked, and I nearly got heat exhaustion. I started seeing some stars, so I had to walk for quite a bit of the "run" (which sucked since my knee was actually fine for the whole race). The water stations were 1 mile apart, so it took a while to get water (which went over my head). Then I was cool for a little while, and could run again (until I over heated again). A LOT of people were walking (not that that is really an excuse). I finished the race just in time, since a line of thunderstorms came in and the officials prevented some people from finishing for fear of lightning strikes. leg distance time (h:mm:ss) rank (out of 89 in age group) swim 1.5k 0:32:35 39 bike 58k 1:59:36 59 run 10k 0:83:42 74 overall 61 Hmmm... not accepting my text formating. Oh well. No signs of amoeba infection yet (see two posts above). Through this event I was able to raise over $6000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Our local chapter raised over $50,000. Nationally, the Team in Training raised over $1 million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Of the ten people competing from our chapter, three people got medals for their age groups. Thanks for all of your support.
  24. Support a good cause & win big prizes

Well, all the prizes were distributed (some time ago). I thought I should post some images from the drawing. So, here they are: So, my triathlon is this coming weekend, specifically Sunday, September 23. If anyone lives in the Florida area, and you want to come see me participate, I can help you get discounted tickets (only good this weekend). Send me a forum PM. I swam a mile in about 25 minutes on Monday, so I am feeling really good for that portion of the race. Of course, that was in a pool and not with hundreds of other people around me in a lake. Plus, Florida lakes are known to have the Naegleria fowleri amoeba, so I will hopefully come back alive. Thanks again for everyone's support!
  25. Well, you can determine how many actors are in the vicinity, and then just check to see if you are in a tavern I suppose.
