Which graphics card and driver are you running? Have you tried the poor man option yet?
-
You haven't been online yet They are reserved for you. Whoops, those aren't for sale anymore, sorry. Added an Instinct Removal Stone and first post updated.
-
Which driver are you using? Try to install the latest driver from Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.19_whql.html

It's working fine for me now, though I get really low fps; about 1-2 fps when fully zoomed out and ~15 fps when i zoom in. I am using Debian Lenny (kernel 2.6.26-1-686) on an old Athlon 900 Mhz with the following graphics card: Video card: GeForce4 MX 440/AGP/3DNOW! Vendor ID: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL Version: 1.5.8 NVIDIA 96.43.07 It's pretty old hardware. New box coming this week (just waiting for the rest of the hardware to be shipped ^.^)

Type #glinfo ingame and post the output here, please. Are you running compiz on Ubuntu? If yes, you might have to disable it to run El properly.
-
The problem is most likely related to your graphics driver, so we have to find out which graphics chip you are using. Try lspci | grep VGA in a terminal. (Might have to do that as root / using sudo). Another option: Install the hwinfo package and run sudo hwinfo --gfxcard Then post the output here

Some more information would be helpful... What operating system (version), graphics card (which driver version) and content of error_log.txt please. A first suggestion: update your graphics card drivers and try again.
-
The driver I'm using (Version 96.43.07) is the latest available from Nvidia. It's from July 16, 2008. And yep, I am aware that it's pretty old hardware. Going to put a new box together soon

Ah, the binary is named 'map_viewer' now. The zip still contained 'map_viewer.linux.bin' which is from Feb 7th. Anyway, the program starts, showing a black screen and then quits when the title switches to "Isla Prima". The binary doesn't run on my Debian Lenny machine (2.6.26-1-686). Video card: GeForce4 MX 440/AGP/3DNOW! I guess it's still the same one as in the last new engine test (that would explain the "unknown option instancing" error).

I think this would make hydro runs way too easy...

Same here. Running Debian Lenny (2.6.26-1-686) on an old AMD Athlon 900 MHz. Video card: GeForce4 MX 440/AGP/3DNOW! I'm getting the same, running Debian Lenny (i386). Video card: GeForce4 MX 440/AGP/3DNOW! Your 3D acceleration isn't working. You need to install the correct driver from Nvidia. I found this one for Win XP: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_71.89.html I hope it's not the same one you've already been trying to install. It seems that the Vanta chipset is pretty old (never heard about it before, btw ^^), that latest driver is from 2005. I hope EL works for you when you install the driver.
-
Ok, could you post the content of error_log.txt please? It should be located in C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents\Eternal Lands\
-
What graphics card and operating system are you using?
-
Did you try to enable the 'poor man' option in the video options? It should be on the 'details' tab. You can access the options window on the login screen.
-
What kind of graphics card/chip are you using? Either it isn't capable of 3D acceleration or you're not using the latest drivers.

Thank you for the script. I always used to zip all those files by hand. I've been too lazy to do it for 1.8.0 until now. It's so much easier now with the script. I replaced ksh with bash in the script, still works flawlessly. Needless to say that the client loads much faster with the compressed files.
