  1. I have nothing to add to this thread that hasn't already been said, except that I also am working towards CoS, but will probably pause and think long and hard before doing the very last item, exactly because of the harv astro.
  2. I like your suggestions, raistlin, #2, though, would require changes to Minel... Its already expensive as hell for the reward, throwing in failures would be bad.
  3. Too many high level Armors in Game

What about, perhaps, changing the daritha quests to steel/tit/bronze helms, and removing helms from npc? Those helms mostly only get bought to break anyway. Would provide a market for big manuers, whilst not really taking anything away from those who use steel/tit armors for training.
  4. It is my understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong), but creatures do not have a 'natural' cap level, do they? That is, when the mod creates an invasion wave, he/she can set the cap to whatever he/she likes, and is not stuck between 'uncapped' and some set value? i.e. when Radu runs a 120-cap in SKF, there are certain creatures he typically includes, of course, but he could just as easily do 120-capped rabbits or 120-capped dragons, correct?
  5. That's exactly why I suggest some very high cap on waves in an invasion like this. Say, 115-capped Cyclops, 130-capped DCW (I'm too far removed from lower level stuff to make a proper estimate anymore, but you get the picture). It would allow non-combat builds to come out and comfortably fight and have fun, but would disallow _far_ higher levels from coming in and just slaughtering whatever they want, as full uncapped does.
  6. I didn't jump in on the invasion last night until it got to Lions/Cycs/DCW/Sselssar, so I'm not sure how much of a problem it was with higher level chars going after the low level stuff -- I wasn't there. With that said, regarding no #help_me request coming in -- if I had seen a high level slaughtering the low level stuff, I don't think I would have sent a mod request. As an uncapped invasion, it wouldn't be against the rules, and I don't really want to whine to mods every time somebody does something that is just kind of not very nice.... (If I did that, I'd spend half my day reporting people I really do like invasions like the one last night (ty Ace and Lucaa for throwing it) -- I wish more like it would have happened when I was smaller... It's very good to see some of the smaller/less combat-oriented players get to go play in an invasion. Perhaps, as a compromise, such an invasion could be done 'high-capped' -- that is, set caps on each wave/map, but make them significantly higher than one might consider necessary. The cap could be raised/removed if there's a real problem clearing it (ty radu for adding that command), but I imagine it wouldn't be a problem, and it would let people of the right range have their fun longer, without the big-big's just slaughtering everything to add to their counters, or get to 'their' part of the invasion quicker. 7. Drop party NPC

+1 on this idea, I like, could be a lot of fun. Jim
  8. ManicMiner scammed my bot

That sucks, man. Can you go back through your records and see how a rosto got onto your bot initially? There'd be no way for an outsider to see that the prices were backwards without putting a rosto on the bot in the first place, and noone in their right mind would sell one for 33k at this point.
  9. Manufacturing lvl and Daritha

I think I get what Ent is saying, and what I like about this daily is that, having a/d rewards, many non-manuers want to do it, but npcs either do not sell (or are not competively priced, see tit shorts), so provides an outlet for manuers to sell their wares... which is a very good thing, I think. However, many of these quests that Daritha offers (wood shields, iron chain, iron shields, leather armor, tit chain, pretty much all the new ones due to massive recent rise in EFE cost/availability) are simply a 'go fetch me this from npc' quest as the npc offers far lower prices than a player could (and in the case of wood shields... is the only option anyway). Also provides some minor income for those who own bots in/near PL to help those who are anti. I'm not sure this was really the original point.
  10. Is volcano phony bot just to drive up prices?

I am not entirely comfortable with the idea of bots with no public ownership information.
  11. Bug in Collateral Damage Perk

Well, I've done a little experimenting in the mines with different armor combos. It's pretty clear that damage from a radon pouch that happens to _you_ is 30-(rad prot*5), so yes, your bronze helm should protect you. Damage from radon pouches that someone else hits are a different story entirely. It appears that just plain armor rating plays some part (possibly armor*2 of protection?), and it appears magic protection plays some part as well. Kind of done messing with it, as i'm gonna go back to wearing full protection, but only radu knows if this is a bug or expected behaviour. To me, I would have assumed radon damage should be the same kind of damage whether you hit it or someone else does, but I guess not. Z
  12. Bug in Collateral Damage Perk

Well that could be explained by the distance that "someon else" is sitting away from you. Starting at some unkown distance from the person triggering the event you won't be harmed by collateral damage anymore. (IIRC, that was confirmed to me by radu personally in PM quite a while back) I suppose that could be true, but it'd have to be a VERY short distance... I've spent an awful lot of time mining in this combo of gear, and have not seen anyone cause CD to me except at dung (much bigger events). It is definitely odd, though, that I'm seeing the opposite of saxum (in that I'm NOT getting CD from others' radon pouches, while still getting damage from the event myself). My gear adds up to radiation prot 4. Is it possible that collateral damage from radon pouches are magic damage and not radiation damage, as the event is when it happens to you personally? My gear offers magic protection +8, and it would explain both saxum and I's oddity. Z
  13. Bug in Collateral Damage Perk

There is definitely a bug with radon pouches. Wearing a rdholam, BD pants, BD greaves, I take no cavern wall damage (event does not happen to me, and I take no damage when it happens to someone else), but with radon pouches, i take 10 damage when it happens to me, but no damage when it happens to someone else. Should be identical, no? Z
  14. el-wiki

If you know the URL (most of which can be guessed if you're looking for a particular item), one can also google 'cache:el-wiki.net/Cactus' and Google will take you to their cached version (of, in this case, Cactus). NB: no space after/before the colon. Z
  15. Possible Invance Rehab?

I would like to see A/D caps fixed, personally. They are designed around full-on fighters only. If your build isn't mostly for combat, A/D level caps are a joke, by the time you can actually kill the critters in question, you are over cap and way too small for the next cap (caps are far too 'wide' too). Combat ability is NOT simply A/D, so using A/D for caps is a bit unfair. I have recently been adjusting my setup and buying gear so I can play in this stuff, but not everyone wants to spend nexus and attributes just to be a perfect fighter so they can fight within A/D caps. Perhaps use a combat-level type formula instead? Z
  16. CRASH

Well then go hit the bar and have a drink.

  18. questions about collateral damage

Good questions: No, it does not count towards MN hates me. No, it will not break your harv med or stop harving. If someone next to you gets hit by a falling wall or radon pouch, you then take damage as well, however -- any protection you are wearing counts. If you're wearing a rdholam and tit greaves, a radon pouch will do you 10 damage -- so if someone next to you (wearing no protection) hits one, and takes 30 damage... you'll take 10. Will not stop the harv and you will otherwise not notice (unless you die... then you will notice Z
  19. Even at at 10xp/1gc it's still not a great deal, but supposing you found some acceptable ratio, it's not an insane idea -- all the mixing skills have ways (skill schools) to effectively convert gc to xp.
  20. I certainly would be in support of _adding_ tit serp to Daritha quest (I'd generally be in support of adding more possibilities to any daily, as long as rewards are suitable, although most are well varied as it is). Why would you want to get rid of the new one though? Reward is _excellent_ XP for very little gc loss. Was quite happy to get it the other day. Much bigger gc loss for tit chains for less xp. Z
  21. Raising caps to 52. Radu is willing, are you?

Just as a note for people wanting to get rid of the OA cap -- I believe the OA cap is a technical restriction. Given that the XP required for L179 is just under the max value of a signed 32-bit integer, and that 179 is a pretty random number to stop at, I'm guessing it may not be a trivial thing to up the OA cap... Z
  22. Split KF in Half

IMHO (and I'm a 'new' player -- true new as of about a year and a half ago) one of the most broken things about PK in this game is the ridiculous 'privacy' setting. I know of no other multiplayer game that allows you to completely hide your capabilities from a possible opponent. I have no desire to face somebody where I don't have a clue whether I'm just going to beat them down, or they'll beat me down, it's no fun at all when I don't even have an idea if I have a chance of winning. Yeah, for the best players you can go to the top 200 page and sort-of try to figure out where they stand, but it's a huge pain in the ass. Get rid of privacy or implement some sort of indicator in-game of where a player stands relative to you. Z
  23. About 3/4 of the phone/web f2p games I've ever played implement daily-play bonuses, usually on a 5-day cycle. It seems to me to be a decent incentive to 'hook' players into regular play -- if you miss a day, you restart at the day 1 bonus. Not having seen the source to the server, I do not know if this is something that could be implemented trivially. I think you want stuff that really helps new players out (thus really incentivizing them to come back every day and become regular players), but is still 'useful' to larger players (but in quantities that are irrelevant -- you just don't want to be dumping useless stuff into people's sto). Here's just a hardly-thought-out 5-day-cycle for example, that probably would need tons of tweaking. Day 1: 500 gc. Day 2: 75 of a random essie. Day 3: 25 SRs/BRs. Day 4: 20x OA xp bonus to your highest skill. Day 5: 2.5% xp boost for 6h (would be incentive for just about _anybody_) Of course it doesn't really matter what the bonuses are, as long as they're some sort of increasing incentive. Perhaps having different awards for different OA ranges. Anyway, just a thought, cause it's something a lot of other free games do. Z
  24. The actual rewards would definitely require more thought, obviously, than my original post (and it's been long enough since I was a newb where I think I might be a bit distorted on what would be helpful without being 'too much'). Kind of curious if Radu or somebody else familiar with the code could weigh in on if it's implementable without a ton of work and if it's something he'd approve of... not really worth discussing actual reward values if the concept can't/won't be implemented.
