  1. Well, thought I'd try another at the lower break rate. I've had it a few days & done quite a lot of harvesting on a variety of things. Bought for 7.5 kgc & final result was 1290 gc & 20390 xp. Personally, I feel this is not a good return on the investment, & so I won't be buying another, unless possibly to try on the x3 harvesting day.

  2. Right, crashed again with GDB running. Actually, different effect to those seen previously where client just closed. This time, window still there, but all black. No error log produced but backtrace from GDB is:

  3. Thanks TTL, that kills 2 birds ..... error log file is below, & the map marks are also contained in the .elc directory.

    [11:19:20] Error: Can't open file "quest.log"

    [11:19:20] Downloading http://www.eternal-lands.com/updates132/files.lst from www.eternal-lands.com

    [11:19:21] Error: Can't open file "commands.lst"

    [11:19:24] Error: Can't open file "./3dobjects/structures/locks.bmp"

Is this actually sufficient to cause the client to close, or is there something else?

  4. Hi all,

just trying out SuSe linux & I have a few problems & a query.

    (1) The client is shutting down in a seemingly random manner. There is no error log generated that I can see (I presume it would be written to the installation folder?). The terminal output is at the end of this post if it is of any use. Any suggestions as to a solution to this?

    (2) I am having to run the linux.static rather than linux.bin file, which seems to because I do not have the cal3d library. Unfortunately, I cannot find a version of this for SuSe anywhere .... what other distro versions of the library would be suitable?

    (3) I am familiar with "map marks/annotations" being stored in the appropriate txt file under Windows, but where is this info kept for the linux version?

I really hope that someone more familiar with linux can get me sorted, since I've been trying to ditch Windows for a while now .... it's just these little niggles which are off-putting :)

  5. Would you rather no warning at all?

No, of course not. I was simply stating that the same message is given when you leave the area as when you enter .... this does not make sense to me, as it is not true, and more importantly it is misleading.

It is a bug, and as such, I have reported it.

  6.

    1) While I was testing on the new server, someone was nice enough to PM while I was AFK to say they had left me a key in a bag. Sadly, by the time I returned, the bag had disappeared. Where do I purchase/find another such item? When I get it, how do I test it?

Tanta in Port Anitora has the keys. Drop a normal bag & use the skull key to send the bag into hyperspace. Use the skeleton key (whilst standing in the correct location) to retrieve the bag.

  7. Problem sorted thanks .... I didn't know about the el.ini in the .elc folder. Perhaps this should be added to the installation notes on the webpage?

Another question springs to mind while I'm on here, since I'm running an x86-64 linux version .... what is the el.x86-64.linux.bin file?

  8. Well thought I would try Linux out finally & obviously the first thing that I'd like to get working is EL. Only problem is ... I can't see my character. Background fine, but no character is shown. My invisible self walks around quite happily, but unfortunately I can't see what I'm doing.

Is there a nice easy, not too technical explanation & solutionhere folks?

  9. Quite a while back Kelcha's quest was changed so that you must complete a couple more steps to get the cheap leather. You probably don't have to restart the entire quest just continue where you left off. I suspect you can get Tankel to destroy . . .I mean repair broken equipment right? So now you have to satisfy the "Kelcha's Dream" part of the quest.

Yes Puntif you're quite correct. I could have sworn that I had done that bit too, but anyway, repeated or not, it works. Thankyou

  10. Strange that no one else appears to have reported this, unless it's been removed because it refers to a quest.

Anyhow, I completed successfully Kelcha's quest before taking the antisocial perk some time ago. I have just reset in the last week, but I can't buy leather from Kelcha, nor restart the quest (it did start at Tankel didn't it?).

    Any ideas peeps?

  11. 143 damage in one mining session (2 radon pouches + some walls) .... this seems a bit excessive. :) Can't be that uncommon either as I heard the_antiroot say last night that he'd had 160 too.

I did get 640 harvesting bonus though (mind you with diamonds, that's only 11 freebies).
