  1. Monster Magnetist Strike

Ya, you're all explorers all right. Anyone besides me actually go tease some monsters to see how MM worked?
  2. The pig of the year award

An old, old internet saying - if you wouldn't want to see it on the front page news, don't send it over the 'net. To threaten someone, explicitly or implicitly, is illegal in the U.S. I was on the jury for a threat case earlier this year, and we ended up convicting on not much more evidence than Entropy has provided. The statements in the 'log, corroborated as they were by at least three people, would certainly be enough for an arrest, and pleading 1st amendment rights won't work in court (the defense lawyer didn't even try). I'm not saying this to accuse or harrass. Just pointing out that what was said was: 1) in the public domain; 2) illegal and convictable. My advice: Chill, reflect, and be glad you're not waiting trial.
  3. Mephistian's Invasion

Good #1: Localization of certain monsters to certain areas - lets us light-weight fighters get some good blows in without having to worry about getting swamped by heavier monsters. Good #2: Invader spawns near "tactical" areas or choke points, e.g., the Gargs near the Lakeside docks in WS. It was pretty cool to help defend the docks so newbies could get from IP to VOTD Felt downright strategic. Good #3: Haven't seen any whining on the forums! (But maybe I haven't looked hard enough...) Bad (but not real bad): Got squished by male orcs at PL city gate before I could get to the gargs in NE PL, and LV didn't announce 'em until I was already out of the underworld... Otherwise, I could've entered NE PL by the crystal & rat cave joining WS and fought me more gargs. As it was, I didn't have enough sr's or br's to heal myself for another round. Long story short - announce monsters at choke points before spawning. Also, announce a chat channel reserved for invasions - I liked that in the last Portland invasion. Would've been a way for fighters on-the-spot to relay what was happening for fighters on the way.
  4. How do you make EFE's?

You make enriched fire essences by making normal fire essences. Each time you make a fe, there's a very small chance that you'll make an efe instead. (Forgot the actual numbers - 1/1000? 1/10000?) The artificer perk doubles your chances.

  6. Crafter's Strike

This is one of those times where I feel like I'm missing out on something that's blazingly obvious to everyone else... If I'm making iron bars, and I've got a stock of cooked meat, then would the flow look like this: - Make 5 iron bars (bringing food from +45 to -10) - Eat one cooked meat (brining food back to +15) - Make 2 more iron bars (food back down to -7) - Wait a couple minutes, or go do something else, until my cooked meat "cools down" before making iron bars again. Is this right? If so, I'd probably stop making stuff, in which case EL would just become a fighting game, which would pretty much kill my interest altogether. Seems like any "cooldown" scheme would break up the process of making, such that you could no longer make it a "project." You'd have to do it catch-as-catch-can; as a player, playing a game, I'd either have to break up the natural flow of gameplay to make a few items, or ignore this aspect of the game completely. I'd be ok with stuff like longer times and/or more food required to make items, or even higher chances of failure. And I'd love to see some sort of "capital" in the game, where you need to be near a forge to work metal, or in a lab full of books and glassware to make essences. I'm not even concerned with the whole experience thing - if it takes longer to get the same xp, so be it. But chopping up the flow of something that used to run smoothly just seems anti-game. Oh, yeah, one final rant If you do this cooldown thing with food, don't call it "cooldown" - call it "you just ate!" or something instead. Your food stock isn't suddenly getting red-hot when you eat, is it? If I don't have the cooldown scheme right, ignore all that, and feel free to berate me for not seeing the bleeding obvious (whatever that may be)
  7. Bying Iron Shields

Good scam, boss! Can't believe I fell for it
  8. Buying Flowers

Apple_Pie, I tried to PM you last night - get me an even mix of red snaps and red roses, and I'll make it worth your while BTW, I'm online from 8-9pm US EST (that's -5 GMT). Sunflowers are now a non-priority item - got enough to keep me busy for a while. Also, I can't use 10k lilacs just yet, but I may be in the market for them after my current project. (110k? How? Why??)
  9. Buying Flowers

    Edited and bumped
  10. Buying Flowers

Friends, Seridians, Countryfolk, sell me your flowers Newbies: Earn good money while boosting your harvesting skill! Oldbies: Clean out those wilting flowers from storage! Inbetweenbies: Yah, ok, I'll buy from you too. High-priority flowers (I'll buy for 0.8gc each): None at the moment (except from people I've PMed on forums). I'll still buy almost any flower for 0.6gc each. Minimum 100 flowers per transaction in all cases (newbies: learn how to storage trade, if you don't know already).
  11. Get Rid Of Ant Petition

So is the ant code publicly available? (Couldn't find it in CVS, but, then, I didn't really dig too deeply). If not, are you willing to say what sort of learning algorithm they use?
  12. Well, What Do You Think?

I think Grum is a poll-posting bot. ...which brings up the question as to whether I'm a poll-voting bot. Hrm...
