  1. Idea for perception

It certainly would be cool to be able to click on monster that were further away then right beside me.
  2. Player Ranking suggestions

Very nice. Now if only I could pass ant_1 somehow on the harvest list.
  3. This is a market?

D'oh. Sorry, you are right I didn't read carefully enough. I tend to get a little defensive anytime I see something about limiting harvesting. Apparently my brain checked out and my fingers did a little to much walking there.
  4. This is a market?

Re: lower harvest limits. Please no. Leveling in harvest beyond about level 65 is painful and gets steadily worse as the amout of exps keeps going up and your ability to earn them never changes. If I harvest 120 diamonds in an hour I get 7200 exps. I'm currently level 80 in harvest so it takes me around a million exps to earn a level. I'll leave the math to the reader but suffice it to say that if I had to stay awake until I leveled I'd be awake a mighty long time. contrast this with fighters who can earn hundreds of thousands of exps in a few hours if they are high level.
  5. So long as there is software there will be bugs.
  6. This is a market?

So long as there is deflation there is to little money in the game. So long as this simple fact is ignored there will be serious problems with the economy.
  7. Stealing Pick Points

Add in the fact that it can take months for non fighter types to gain OA as you start creeping in on OA100. Sorry, not a good idea.
  8. Shouldn't skunks posion

I don't think it is currently used for anything but doesn't EL have a charm or some such skill? Temporarily lowering that would be another approach to take, assuming of course it did anything.
  9. If this has to happen then please... A, lower the cost of MM B, refund the PP difference between the old and new cost to people who currently have MM.
  10. The rollback

I lost close to 200k exps, the bulk of it in the harvest area. Yes, I was working hard on that as ~7200 is the most I can get per hour. Did it bug me? Yep. Will I survive? You bet. As others have noted, EL is in beta. One way to avoid rollbacks is to have no updates. Personally I'd rather deal with the occasional rollback then EL being forever stagnant.
  11. I voted no. If I wanted to have monsters chasing me I wouldn't have spent all those PP's on MM. Though given how watered down MM is becoming I'm certainly starting to wish for a refund opportunity. MM ain't cheap. The fact that it has gotten less useful over time and that people are discussing things that will water it down even more is a bit distressing.
  12. I did a search on this and didn't find anything. I tried several varians of "smaller inventory window" so... I generally run EL at 1280x1024. Even at that resolution the inventory window gets in the way. It's really large. By contrast I find the storage window to be a very nice size. I'd love to see the inventory window scaled down to a similar size. I tend to have a lot of trouble in combat because the current inventory window gets in the way. IE, I'll kill a monster, pick up its bag and have to stop to close the inventory window. Meanwhile another monster that I was about to attack has wandered away and I have to chase them. Or the monster wanders behind the inventory window before I can close it and then off the screen...
  13. But if you turn that off aren't you stuck when it comes to picking up monster drops when the monster obscures the bag?
  14. Any search involving maps brings up dozens of threads. I skimmed several and didn't find anything like the following. Hopefully it is new... In areas where there is no map I'd like to see an empty map. Just a black screen. This would allow me to mark stuff for future use. Things like the magic school for instance would be much easier to navigate with this feature. Hopefully two suggestions in one day isn't to many. It was early to mid January 2005 when I started playing EL and this is my way of celebrating.
  15. Empty map files

Thats always been an issue though. I've had custom maps in the past that had stuff from multiple places. Never bothered me a bit. And now with the new viewing mode you can even see the other buildings and such on maps sometimes.
  16. Empty map files

Thanks for the suggestions. These should solve my problem, but from the point of view of the broader community some sort of solution that didn't require any additional work sure would be nice.
  17. I hadn't realized the window was smaller at the lower res settings. I had noticed the smaller images for the storage interface though which is what got me to thinking about this. The quickbar actually works reasonably well for me. The main issue is really with picking stuff up in combat. Though if the inventory window were smaller I'd be more likely to leave it open as it is kind of nice to be able to see everything.
  18. Random days

Well, in truth it is a combination of the two. I just get a bit frustrated by all the calls to limit the money supply when the subject of deflation comes up. It just confuses me as clearly the issue is a combination of to much supply and to little money. I'd never claim fixing the economy is simple. I would claim that removing money isn't the answer, especially in isolation.
  19. Empty map files

One thing I forgot to add is that there are places with the new perspective view (Or is it isometric? I don't have EL on this computer and can't recall for sure which is which). where I often come in with a cave wall between me and anything I would want to click on. The DP storage is a case in point. If I could mark an empty map then it would be easy to switch to the map view, click and end up at the storage. I could also make notes if I found secret places where there was no map.
  20. Empty map files

D'oh on the magic school. I had thought I got that map from somebody on the forums a long time back. Note you don't have to actually have these empty maps as part of the package. I suspect a fairly minimal amount of coding could be needed to fake this. And the map markings are in a seperate text file, so the space addition would be minimal.
  21. Drop bags

From reading through the threads the issue here seems to be that the client has to initiate the bag open, right? If that is the case then I understand the difficulty. If it were possible for the server to initiate the open then it would be trivial to add this functionality as all the server would have to do is check to see if there was a drop and then call the bag open function if there were. You're talking one or two lines of code probably. Checking for a bag and opening it when the inventory opens seems like an OK compromise, but I may be missing some obvious problem with that approach.
  22. The cooldowns decision

Agreed. I leveled more in potions, manu, and crafting this past week then I had in the previous six months. In large part because I couldn't stand to do any of those things prior to cooldown. Feasting potions are your friends. Can't afford them? Camp outside the tavern in Portland and harvest fruit for a few days. You'll improve your harvest level and accumulate more then enough cash to go on a crafting/manu/potions/alch binge. And yes I know there is a Goblin there. It isn't that tough to get to a level where it will ignore you. And if you are really serious about the non combat skills MM is an excellent investment. Six hours? Do the math on one million or more harvest exps when you cap at 120 per hour and the most you can get is around 60 unless it is a scholars day...
  23. Random days

Take my gold and I stop playing EL. Deflation is caused by a lack of money, not to much money. To quote dictionary.com... A persistent decrease in the level of consumer prices or a persistent increase in the purchasing power of money because of a reduction in available currency and credit. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=deflation Price drops are due to there being to little money in EL. This is economics 101.
  24. Drop bags

I'd love to see this added.
  25. Client release candidate 3

OK, more information. First of all, everything seems fine in the isometric view. I run in perspective with the following settings. perspective .80 near plane 35 I also keep things as "straight on" as possible. IE, I'm trying to get as close as possible to a third person behind the shoulder view as I can. Everything was fine out in the wilds of DP. Very smooth and I never dipped under my set limit of 15fps. Went to tars and hung out in the town. Saw the dropoff again. Decided to stand in one place and switch to the old client. Went from 9fps to 15fps when I wnt to the old client. Decided to test various video options. I was standing at 198,256 and facing pretty much directly sw. I toggled on and off all the various video options and only the following two made a difference. cloud shadows: I went from 9fps to 10-11. frame buffer support: No change in performance, but it seemed to trigger the ATI mouse pointer bug. IE, I had to do ctrl-mouse click to go any place when no in map view. All tests were at 1280x1024. Hopefully this is somewhat useful. Please let me know if there is anything else I can try. Should probably mention this is on Windows XP. Which will likely get me in bad with my LNX guild mates.
