  1. Bots

Actually, trade bots are not allowed unless they're paid bots now. I'm against all trade bots really, but I can understand having to relax the rule for those who have paid. Bots like the Ants, Wandering Fool, and their ilk are of course much more interesting and 'useful' to the gameworld in general imho.
  2. For Your Information

    Get well soon =)
  3. If You Want To Have A Bot

I have to say I couldn't be happier with the recent decision to limit bots to paying members. I'd also like to say that while I never actually used the bot's services, I do think that the EternalBroker bot seems to fit the 'criteria' I tried to outline in terms of bots and the spirit of the game. Seems a very selfless bot to me, and helps players to connect to do business directly rather than yet another lame, laughable sales bot. It's definitely the 'quietest' bot I've seen too...no public announces, announcements in only the market channel that are random and alternating, and they're very fairly spaced apart. Truly, a paradigm for how a bot should be done to say the very least, and something the ebul Linux could learn a thing or two from. In a perfect world, a few additional NPC's would eliminate Linux and it's ilk entirely, and a potential final NPC could be added in it's place that only bought/accepted items that could be used by mods/devs for those little impromptu quests we all like so much. I also liked the idea of having all bots in a single guild called BOT (the wise ChowRiit's idea iirc). Regardless, thanks again for bringing this annoying matter back under sharp control.
  4. Come Here If You Want A Trade Bot!

I thought that this was already the case, but sure that works. Like most people, I hang out in the market channel pretty much exclusively. I'm also on for hours at a time, and it gets damned annoying to see the same message come up every few minutes. Personally, I define spam as the same message repeated ad nauseum, but I'd think that's pretty obvious. When you're in market channel and where the bot is, you get it twice as much. Add the fact that he'd paste the link to this forum in with it too, and I get pretty cranky pretty quick. Now compound that for every bot that's in the gameworld. Add the fact that people are already putting them in busy areas like *right* at the storage in VOTD and you get to 'hear' everyone complain about the bot too. Seriously annoying to say the least, and since everyone can have their own, it's not special and serves no purpose (why buy from bot X over bot Y at that point?). Obviously. Re-read the last paragraph to understand how this problem compounds well beyond a simple single ignore. If I could just ignore the entire problem, I would. True. Remarkably selfish, but true. I'd like to think that since the devs offer EL for you to play for free, you might want to try to offer something back rather than just taking more, but I guess it's silly of me to even think of such an ideal. =P
  5. Come Here If You Want A Trade Bot!

Awesome, we now have 4 new bots spamming in VOTD, DP public and in the market channel. People have been stationing them right at storages for extra spamtastic splendor. Hope you're happy, you've aided in causing tons of unnecessary hardship and annoyance for the entire gameworld. While I freely admit I have no idea how the bot works, I can't help but feel that you're a scammer too since I can't help but notice that you've not changed the admin part of the conf file I pointed out to you. Certainly seems suspicious to say the least.
  6. Come Here If You Want A Trade Bot!

Really nice of you to leave this in the configuration file you included : =P
  7. Come Here If You Want A Trade Bot!

There's a difference between running a trade bot and running a sales bot. A trade bot is an addition to the game world, a sales bot is a detraction to the game world because all it does is try to advance YOUR character. Dumping things on the bots so they can endlessly spam to try to sell it for you is only a dishonorable attempt at helping yourself to get ahead unfairly. It's no different from multying, scripting or macroing for the exact same reasons that those things are already not tolerated. If the bot buys and sells the exact same items and was self sufficient with no interaction, then it would be fair (and you wouldn't have to 'worry' about loading it up either). Your bot only buys what you want and sells what you deem to be crap, so the only thing it's doing a service to is yourself.
  8. Come Here If You Want A Trade Bot!

Trade bots are allowed in addition to that rule, not in exemption of. =P If we can all have a trade bot that just endlessly spams and you can give it all your crap to sell for you 24/7 what's the point in even playing at all?
  9. Come Here If You Want A Trade Bot!

This is absolutely not helping the game in the least, not to mention the ludicrous amounts of abuse and spam it generates. Why are people being allowed to get away with this? afaic, ALL the sales bots that I know of (which quite frankly are just Linux and TheMotherNature now) are in direct violation of this at the moment, and it should be considered multying and exclusively forbidden. As it stands, I get to see your bot spam in market chat every few minutes, then spam in public in VOTD, then you spam about this very thread so we can have even more idiots with their bots running around. That's just way too much annoyance from one person.
  10. Trade Bug

I was trading gc for snake skins with Phenic when we seem to have encountered a bit of a bug. I agreed to 1k gc for snake skins of various types. Since they take up space, we had no choice but to do several trades. I withdrew exactly 1gc from storage, choosing the 1000 option, and had no other gold on me at the time. I gave 200 gc per trade and got ~25 skins a trade. I know for certain that I gave out 1000 gold, and I'm quite confident that I got all my skins. What's in dispute is Phenic actually receiving 200gc in one of the trades (claims he got 800gc total). During at least one of those trades, we aborted...I remember once I had to abort due to inventory on hand limits. On the last trade, Phenic claimed that I had only given him 800gc rather than 1k, and yet I had no gc on hand. I am willing to take him at his word on this and we settled the matter by offering an additional 100gc (technically we both take a loss of 100gc then). Trade 1 - 200gc for 27 red skins Trade 2 - 200gc for ~25 green skins Trade 3 - 200gc for ~25 green skins Trade 4 - 200gc for ~25 brown skins Trade 5 - 200gc for ~25 brown skins <--trade aborted because I had too many skins on me still Trade 6 - *already paid* for ~25 brown skins <--phenic asks where the last 200gc payment is Now I really don't care about the loss of a few hundred gc, but if this is a bug it deserves some real attention. Imagine if it had been money for an EFE? or the EFE itself? While Phenic and I were able to settle this amicably, I could easily see this exploding into false scammer alerts, provided it has a bug. For all I know, Phenic has that PEBKAC bug and actually got all his gold.
  11. Testing New Formula

Avon has an excellent point....it's tested, encouraged and accepted as opposed to the current system which isn't. Why the delay in implementation? MooCow, no offence but 'afk play' is quite the paradox and pretty much what I'd think the devs are trying to avoid to a degree. imho, you're either afk, or you're playing, but not both. =) Ultimately though, it's by far the general concensus that the server side autoclikcer is an improvement, so much so that I'm sure it's staying. The only thing in question really is the speed, which under the new system seems to be improved (not tried it myself yet but doubt it could be any worse heh).
  12. Your Ideas/suggestions About The Update Changes

With all due respect....really, I'm in shock and I just can't stop thinking about the simple fact that of all the things you could implement in this game the decision was made to ultimately further retard progress. Granted this is a beta, and sure we're testers lucky to have anything at all, but really I don't think this game can take much more or this one step forward, two steps backward mentality. As most people have already stated, harvesting is definitely a joke now. It's way, way, way too slow and fails far too often in general for anyone's tastes. It's definitely insulting to be level 40 at harvesting and having a tough time picking _fruit and veggies_ out of the ground. In my not so humble opinion, harvesting could do with several tweaks to make it completely acceptable and a happy compromise of both security and functionality. Numerous ideas have been put forth in this regard of course, but some I'd like to touch on are: -gathering units in bunches according to your nexus and type (ie 4 vegal nexus means 4 fruit gathered on a successful strike) -a random gathering amount, from 1 to (level/difficulty or favorite formula here) -fruit/veggies should be moved from their current values to the easiest thing to harvest (and thus, the least xp). As it stands, you get more xp from harvesting veggies than say sulfur, which is a little weird. -tit ore should weigh _substantially_ more then what it currently does. I was shocked to find out that after all my hard work with iron and silver that tit ore weighs a mere 1 EMU per unit. it should weigh the most, and at least twice that of iron. Why aren't there harvester friendly 'quests'? This would be especially beneficial for people just starting out. There's more than enough of the 'find <nick> in <place> and kill him and get <goodies here>'. Why not have a quest such as 'There has been a wall collapse in CC and poor <nick here> has been buried alive. Help dig him out!' and have the guy surrounded by like 2k of sulfur or something. Last person to dig him out gets a pickaxe or maybe a book on tit mining or something heh. Anyways, I know it's long winded and cynical, but try to look at this post as something with some positive suggestions to make EL a better place for everyone. Despite the tirade of complaints, I'd actually like to thank the EL developers at this point (even though mere hours ago, I assure you I was cursing your names heh) for at least trying to fine tune a system that needs to be perfected. It's not quite there yet, but hopefully they'll see the light and make the proper balances soon enough.
