Thanks. It looks like the open source drivers support OpenGL 2.0 and the ATI proprietary drivers support 4.2. The AMD 50 has a Radoen HD 6250 GPU in. Reviews of the netbook show good graphics in movies up to 1020p, so I suppose it should make EL playable It's on sale in a supermarket. Don't know if they would let me boot Linux and let me check it out.

More clothes would be great if I had any slots for them. The ones recently introduced I cannot store.

I think with Windoze you must uninstall the old graphics driver completely before you install a new one. Where you uninstall I don't know. I think Windoze has a install/uninstall programs thing in the control panel? Does this work with drivers? The directory where Windoze puts program files (/programfile???) should have a directory for the drives (maybe under the name of the vendor of your card). There maybe an uninstall in there. It's possible you now have bits of both old and new drivers on your computer. So to clean up the mess, install the new and then uninstall it and then install the old and uninstall it. Now it should be clean. Then install whatever driver you want back on.

I live in Thailand. Imagine how many invasions happen in my timezone and outside work hours. Oh bums I rarely do invasions and never done instance or the new fangled inv-thingy. And special days I sleep through. Just jesting, but I like Saxum's idea of putting all in a calendar so we can see what is what for sure. I don't know Windoze, but NVidia cards come with a setup program that can adjust the graphics settings. Have you tried running this program? Should be on the supporting CD that comes with the card. -- Zoot

Hi, I'm not entirely sure this will solve your problem as I don't have the hardware you do. I have a mobile Sandybridge I5 (so has it's own graphics) with a discrete NVidia card also. EL would not run on the Intel graphics (and I couldn't get it to run on the NV card as that was not accessible) It might be possible to overcome this problem with the latest (or nearly latest) Xorg packages (your display software). To do this follow the instructions on this webpage. https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa. This installs the latest Xorg and card drivers including for Intel. There is a link to the latest stable Xorg release in about the 3rd paragraph.I installed the latest, so far so good. Choose which you prefer Note it suggests you install ppa-purge before you do anything else (so that you have an escape route if all goes pear-shaped) Read paragraph 5 for how to revert About half way down you will see how to install the ppa to your system. In the game I had to turn the option "Use Animation Program" off to get my avatar to display correctly. Like I say, I'm not sure if this will work for you, but myself, I went from no EL under Ubuntu to being able to play. Good luck -- Zoot

I like the idea and the ability to diffuse being linked to your engineering level and/or level of kit you have in your inventory. Might encourage a few more to do engineering. -- Zoot

Don't think I've ever had an achievement of mine in a newspaper. Not even those that society counts like degrees. Degrees are achievements, but you probably only talk about them in job interviews where you have to reveal my work abilities. My friends know some of what I've done, what they know depends on the direction of conversations and how long they have known me. I climbed Great Western at Almscliffe Crag, that's a personal achievement. But I only rarely talk to friends about this, it's not tattoo'ed on my forehead, it never made any newspaper. I will have a personally set level in all EL skills soon, that's an achievement. I achieved a goal with regards to the Haidir daily quest. Neither will appear over my head. Some of my friends in game know these, but why would I tell everyone? Some of the EL "achievemnts" are iffy at best. I can get achievments for luck and astro (Lucky Crafter?), carelessness (Mason?). Did I do anything to get them? I can make an EFE with an enrichment stone, I made it, it's something I did. An EFE through luck? That's like winning the lottery, I did buy a ticket, but I didn't DO anything else. If you think these are achievements that's fine by me, such matters are personal affairs. Novac I is an achievement, the manufacturing tutorial more so, but picking 5k flowers?? Are calluses achievements or what what you created that resulted in them? How many ppl will ever know you plumbed in the kitchen sink or grow your own vegetables? Some of your friends, not all your local community. But they are achievements. And as to additional coding, we already have #set_privacy off/on, a simple if() conditional would suffice. Not difficult to add I think. -- Zoot

It should be noted that not all that play earn in USD/Yen/GBP/Euro. I'm not complaining. Some spend USD 1000s on their chars. OK by me. I can't compete with them and never will. I will continue to muddle along. Just don't make the prices too high -- Zoot

You have to have them in inventory not storage. I did black panther earlier. I have not had a problem with Maia so far.

Why? For the same reason some pl have their atts/nexus set to private. I you want them shown or you don't, the choice should be yours. Some ppl display their sporting trophies or academic certificates on the wall at home and others don't. It's optional. -- Zoot

Hi, I liked it when the unofficial ones first came out, but soon got tired of it. Designs on shields and capes denoting guilds looked nice. However, not being able to tell what someone is wearing was a pain (and I don't pk). Some of the outfits were odd to say the least. I wouldn't mind some more clothes (if you knew they were clothes) and I had somewhere is storage to keep them (cos I don't at the moment). I could really use some different boots. -- Zoot

Hi, Well, I'm in that 120-140 training dip and am feeling the pinch with less xp per hour. Also I am experiencing higher breaks. I am no expert on how the game works. I started hard training a/d when Haidir's yeti first became "available" to me. In the early days, I had to have guildies help me with those which I didn't like to have to do. So, I started training lots. Now, I can cope OK on good days and just have to slog it through on bad. Move up to DCW drop in xp, move to FCW xp stays the same (and I still don't have the right atts). MCW I don't really know as I only ever try them on good days with a following wind and when I can pay full attention to my health, but by the time I get to them it doesn't look good. So, the oa's get further away not just because they are further apart. (I don't expect to not have to spend longer between levels) On the breakages front (as posted elsewhere) I'm suffering. I can't put pp on Vitality as I can hardly put enough pp on Reasoning and Instinct. What's my toughness got to do with the toughness of the armour anyway? I am not ready to stop a/d training yet as Yeti still pose a problem. That's my two pence worth. -- Zoot

Thanks Chr0nik, but I already have the "eye" popup disabled. I don't know if this affects the other type of popup that occurs when you get the achievement. I don't want those either. I don't want to know when I've managed to eat a 1000 vegetables. And further, I don't want the achievements at all. I'd like to opt out of the system all together and lead a quiet life. -- Zoot

The achievements should be hidden by privacy settings if the user wishes. I'd also like to turn the whole achievements thing off. Don't want the pop-up notifications or the achievements. -- Zoot

Hi, I don't know if the "adjustment" has been "adjusted" further with server "restarts", but I have degraded two ti shields (one on the ridiculous Haidir Yeti), broken two MOLs and one Gatherer Med in the last three weeks. Seems a bit much to me compared to before. I trained a lot before and after this great idea was introduced, it's worse now I'd start mixing/harv'ing/anything but still have to train for Haidir. -- Zoot
