  1. Simple suggestion

What I am talking about is the situation where two players wish to test their skills against each other. They are from different guilds, but someone has to leave their guild in order to PvP. If a guild officer is not around to remove them temporarilly, it's a hassle. If I understand Nathanstenzel then players in guild which are not allied should have no problem. Then this would only apply to the situation where two players from allied guilds want to PvP. There may not be a guild map available to them. There may not be a guildbot to deal with this. I'm talking about an easy way to let two players PvP who want to just test their skills against each other. One that takes the headache off officers. And also deals with the situation where no guild officers are present. And come to think of it, it even would deal with the situation where two players in the same guild wish to PvP.
  2. Simple suggestion

Actually, I think Nathanstenzel's idea is a better one here. There could be problems implementing a "scheduled rejoin" for the game. An area for PvP between friendly guilds sounds like an even simpler solution. And there are guilds which do not have bots, which this would be suitable for.
  3. I know that occasionally guildies like to PvP with players in friendly guilds. Sometimes in this situation a guild officer may not be online to remove the player from the guild to allow PvP to take place quickly and hassle free. Perhaps a command like #leave_for_pvp could be implemented which removes someone from guild for a limited period, let's say an hour, to do PvP? That way agreed matches can happen quickly and without hassle.
  4. Why I like HELP guild

I suppose it is an interesting recruiting tactic. But, it is primarilly a statement about why I chose a guild, and what the gain is. Very basically of course. If anyone is looking for a guild, it seems to me they should look at the philosophy of the guild first and see if it resonates; "Pushy" invitations were a bit offputting for me, but to each, his own.
  5. Why I like HELP guild

"buggalugs" is my first character in EL. I started out by just experimenting and getting ideas about what I could do. I learned fairly early about the guild concept, and thought about the pro's and con's of being a guild member. After a while, when I had built up some skills, I found I was being approached by various guild members, inviting me to join their guilds. I got the sense that I could have said yes to any one of them and more or less joined a guild with no hurdles. I felt that some of the people asking me to consider their guild seemed a bit over-anxious to increase their membership. I have two speeds, slow, and slower. In my travels I had interactions with one or two of the HELP guild members. I was never pressurised or pestered, and that is A BIG PLUS to me. I was simply invited to look at the web site, which I agreed to do. I read the HELP philosophy. It is simple. No trouble makers. Try to return death bags. No intruding on guild maps, apologise if you do. Don't take peoples stuff, don't PK unless you do it by agreement with your opponent. Oh, yes, and try to trade with guild members first. That one kind of goes a bit against the grain because I like the idea of freedom to trade with whom I will. When I asked about this, I was told, it's not a hard and fast rule, just a guideline. And of course, I have found that as I have come to know guild members, I kind of know what they can do and what they have to offer. Sometimes they have giveaways, drops they don't need, and sometimes I do too. So there is a tendency to trade within your guild. Our guild HELP is co-operative. If something needs to be done, we pool our resources and get it done. We have good sources of advice. which is REALLY useful. Sometimes you get differences of opinion, but even that is good because you can weigh things up. We go on adventures, exploring places, help each other out if deathbags are dropped and a rescue is needed. The guild officers can check your stats and give guidance about allocating pickpoints. We tell each other stories about things we see and things that happen to us. And if you want to have a quiet time, with little interaction, *that's fine too*. I'm sure a lot of other guilds can say similar things, but my experience of being in the HELP guild has been really satisfying for me. I made the right decision. buggalugs.
  6. kf drop ?

How so? I accept that point earlier about this being "normal circumstances". That was the best phrase I could find. Yes, it is a normal circumstance. I don't think star was looking for a loophole. Star tried to avoid a fight, and when that didn't work opted for a way out which she thought would preserve her gear. In this case, it did the exact opposite. Okay, it was an unfortunate overlap of events, there might have been milliseconds in it. If I die and lose a db, of course it's upsetting, but you make an effort to retrieve it, unless you don't care about it. In this particular instance, star couldn't retrieve it, because the situation meant she couldn't take note of where it was dropped. That's the point is was getting it. It seems a little rough to me. Of course, ces't la vie ... but to me it bears consideration. bugga ...
  7. kf drop ?

But that's not the point; at least in normal circumstances you have the opportunity to do something about it. In this case the odds are stacked. It's not a matter of finding a loophole. It's not a matter of ease, its a matter of fair crack of the whip. IMO. bugga...
  8. kf drop ?

It seems to me that in normal circumstances, if you died, you would have an idea where your db was and have at least an opportunity to retrieve it, but it would be difficult in this situation because you may not be aware that you have died with a chance to drop a db. bugga...
  9. Natras BJ'er

Hehehe Yeah, but not before he announces he was "the Great Sartan" and boasted he could "do this all day". Five minutes later the Great one naffed off. buggalugs
