  1. gamma correction (using w2k)

    well... i'm playing in windowed mode, but the gamma correction apply to the entire desktop (including my programs running in background...). Gamma correction should only apply to the EL window. Is this possible ?

    i don't know... I just saw "Also the top might be shown wrong if you or your ISP uses web caches (the delay might be even 1 week)" on the top50 html page...

    a very simple way to avoid problems of web caching proxies is to add a timestamp in the GET request, so url would look like : http://el.tfm.ro/top/top50.php?time=35565462 where time is, of course, the time in EPOCH format (number of seconds since the 1st jan 1970). Most proxies don't cache urls if there is a "?" inside (like squid and Isa server). Internet explorer still get the page in its cache, but, as the timestamp changes at each access, there is no more problem.

    another idea, in this war against scammer should be tracking the stuff... I know it's hard, but if there is (there was ?) a bag drop logfile and a bag pick logfile, mods should be able to find who got the scammed stuff at the end of the "scamming process"... example : Hammit scams 4efe from placid (yes, it's impossible, cause he's not stupid : he doesn't bagtrade). (Hammit is not the main char of the scammer) hammit disconnect The_real_scammer connects and go to a special place (where there is nobody) The_real_scammer disconnect hammit connects hammit goes to the "special place" and drop the 4 efes hammit disconnect The_real_scammer connects and get the efes whith a logfile logging bag-stuffing the_real_scammer should be "quite" easy to find out. this logfile should use ingame date and time (every user has the same date and time, this way)

    i was looking for large quantities of matter essence. o_s told me he could sell me 5000 essence for 20k, but i didn't have the money. He told me to call him back when i have the money. When i call him back (3 days later IRL), he had forgot our deal (first hint). Especially if it is the first time you trade with him, and if it's for 20k gold... fourth hint (and obvious proof) : this guy says he can only carry 100 by 100 (he has no armor, no cape or other things on him). But look at his phy/coord. this guy has might=19 so he can carry 380 emu. this is obviously a lie... So, don't trade with o_s, and had him to your pk list...

    I like the idea of a blood patch... but it's obvious there must be no blood patch, at least for gamers under 18 (or 16) years old... How can you make the difference between young and adult gamers ? really hard problem, cause a disclaimer is not enough...
  8. Rings of specific teleportation

    i didn't though about server ID for items... it's now obvious to me that making "rings of coordinates teleportation" are (almost) impossible. But making new rings of teleportation is still a good idea to be abble to access many points of the same map... (and/or making more doors in portal rooms) And, as goliath said, i suggest that the crafter have to be in lakeside to make a lakeside ring... etc

    And what about a "This coordinate ring" that teleports you to the place where you made the ring (looking at the ring should display the coordinates and map name) ?
  10. i was just thinking about "something" (like the color of the player's name) that shows if he is online / offline or haven't played during one month. Of course, everybody on the "players online" is online, but you can also directly access to the player's page (example : http://eternal-lands.solexine.fr/~radu/vie...hp?user=Platyna ) this information should be given here. what do you think ? and what about a list of ALL players ? (i'm sure this question has already been asked)
  11. suggestions for bandwith saving

    Hi, In the game, when server send us raw text "standard" message, it is send in full ascii (exactly there is a null char first, and a unsigned char to say how long is the packet after - and a char for color too). i think about "too heavy you are overloaded", "you stopped harvesting", "your exp level as reach limit" etc... what about creating a new token for theese messages, whith just token-length-color-id (4 bytes in total) where the id corresponds to an array (or a text file) line of the client which contain th full message. That could save some bandwith. Of course, as i don't know the proportion of theese packets, i don't know if that is really usefull

I understand why the effects of def potions are not cumulative. but the effect of the potions should be cumulative whith the gods blessings, because these "extra points" don't have the same origin. for example : drinking a def potion give 5 def points (devreasing 1 per minute) being blessed by def god gives 8 def points (devreasing 1 per minute) but drinking def potion and being blessed within the same minute only gives +8 where it should give +13
  13. Some Idea...

    It should be a good idea, when talking to NPC, to automatically sit down. This way, it's more easy for everybody to talk to storage NPC, for exemple... the end. this was a short idea
