The point of an rpg is to mimic a reality like our world. But give it flavor to let us live a fantasy. Our world has no point either, but i wouldnt recomend quitting life most days.

Well it's fine to compare two games with each other. This thread is perfectly appropriate for a mature community. But unfortunatly these games don't have a perfect community. And once the biggest jerk finally grows up, ten more replace him. I've only found one place where i've had no problems with the community. Believe it or not it was in a cribbage card game commmunity.

Yes free, Eternal Lands deffinitly has the potential to top runescape. But i just think runescapes game design is better than what EL can transform into. I'd like to be proven wrong. But the (last time i checked) nearing 75k unique paying members of runescape from today and of the past is a very tough opponent for this game right now. This may change with the new interfaces being put in EL, so i've heard. We'll see. I'd like EL to have an as easy interface to use than runescapes.

I like eternal lands graphics but in my own opinion, eternal lands will never match runescape. Runescape just has the game design down. They made a great game, and its structure is very well designed. It targets young teenagers and housewives who have the most time to play it because it does not require skill, and time flies when you have a lot of goals. Its a time waster but you feel like you are accomplishing a lot. Its interfaces are friendly and the way you play is just easy. Eternal lands could make it big, but i just don't see it. What Runescape has accomplished is very very rare. Not to say i'm rooting for runescape...I hate jagex. They used thier legal crap against me. I'd like to see EL take all of runescape members.

c++ is more powerful than Java. c++ is probobly your best bet for making any MMORPG. There are some exceptions. But anyone who points to runescape is retarded. Runescape did an extrodinary job with java just to get a mediocre game. The gameplay design was done very well, and that is what made it successful. There is a very old language called cobol. It is the most widely used language today. This is because companys were made with that language and never needed to change it once it was in place. Of course you wouldnt want to learn cobol because no one programs with it anymore. In the case of c++, no language has made it obsolete, and i wouldnt count on it being obsolete for a while. And once its overtakin, it will be a while before it fades out. I don't know what language smart guy was talking about, but if he was thinking Java, Java is just a much more organized language than c++, but it sacrifices some power to be such.

Cat 5 cables are all the same. A cross over is just ordering the cords a different way. A regular ordered cable would most likely be ordered orange stripe, orange, green stripe, blue, blue stripe, green, brown stripe, brown on both ends. On a cross over cable, the wires are ordered with one end regular but the other end has the order green stripe, green, orange stipe, blue, blue stripe, orange, brown stripe, brown.

That feature is for when you dont want to hold down the key, you just press it and its 'on'. When its on, you press the shift instead of holding it down. To turn sticky keys on and off you press the shift key 5 times. Not hold it down for 5 seconds. If you want it off just press the shift key 5 times and when the prompt comes up click cancel.

You can't do that on Runescape, unless you are talking about thier past, which i still hadent heard anything about it before. But aside from ugly Java games, what i think would sell people is a graphical interface for banks. No doubt this idea has been on the boards before but i would go members in a game for just that reason. I'd be spending more money a month on coke machines then i would on this game anyway.
