This is for TESTING on the TEST SERVER. All you're doing is wasting bandwidth, causing problems and slowing things down. As you can see by the few posts to the thread, there aren't many legitimate testers to begin with. Please don't make things more difficult.

Your problem could be due to at least a couple different things I think. We could use some more information though to help you properly: Please refer to the troubleshooting guide and get us as much information as possible. One thing you can try without having to go through all that is to get a clean download. Uninstall EL. Re-Install EL. You may have some corrupted files causing the start-up to hang or fail. Also, when you say 'loading stops' exactly what happens? Does the loading hang and say Loading actor descriptions for a very long time? Does the client close and give you an error? Does the client close and not give you an error?

We had a long discussion about reading the rules, you and I. I'm sorry that you chose to not read the rules and demonstrate that you have the ability to read, understand, and follow them. Per rule, we are not at liberty to discuss why your friend got banned. Again, per rule we are not going to work through the circumstances, details and any sort of resolution with a friend. I think you misunderstand the client and how it works. Any of the programmers who have worked with the open source code could without qualification tell you that the client does not work in that way. As a progammer yourself you can look through the open source code and verify that. When you play the game you explicitly agree to the rules and to be bound by them. We spoke at length regarding the rules and the need to read and understand them. The rules themselves and the fact that you MUST accept them in order to play the game are a warning in and of themselves. 'Your brother' was told multiple times by multiple moderators that we could not help 'him' with the situation involving netdude. This was ignored. I find this comment to be somewhat discouraging. It shows a distinct lack of ownership and personal responsibility for your part in what occurred. It also demonstrates that after all that transpired you do not seem to grasp why or how your actions and your brother's actions led to the consequences that followed. An apology is nice, but I personally do not find much contrition or genuine remorse on your part given the tone and content of this post. Asking to 'please undo what you did' does not in any way state what it is you might do to undo what you yourself did to create this situation. You said that you would answer questions to prove that you could follow the rules but in the time since we spoke your actions have demonstrated that you do not seem to want to follow the rules.

Thank you for your kind words I'd like to echo Vanyel's reply in saying that your enjoyment is great thanks. That you took the time and effort to do a public thank you to players is even nicer. I helped out in the capacity of moderator, but a lot of other people actually put in the work to plan, organize and run the event. My hat's off to them for doing the necessary legwork to come up with something innovative and fun. And I'll also add my thanks to all the players in part 3 of the Mabrook's Mercenaries event. You were a great bunch, protecting each other and giving me as moderator in the event a relatively easy job. Here's to the success of the event and to hopefully more and more successful ones.

Lythe, I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what is going on here. You've said several different things and I can only guess what the problem may be. - You cannot remember your password and get a wrong password error when logging in. - You cannot log into your orignal FORUM name for unspecified reason. - You (now?) get a message saying you were IP banned when logging in. From that information there could be a number of explanations. What is your account name? Did you have alternate characters? If so, names? Did you violate any of the game rules? http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14582 If the three points I summarized above are accurate, did you have an easy to guess password that could have allowed you to be hacked?

Whatever your motivations are and have been, the point is that you were in violation of game rules. Regardless of whather or not you bothered to read them, you did agree to follow and be bound by them. Per rules 5, 18, 26 I found your 'joking' about hacking people's accounts and discussion about moderation to be more than inappropriate. And therefore you were removed from the server temporarily. Let me make clear to you that just because you don't always know what happens after you report abuses does not in any way, shape, or form mean that nothing was done. Let me also suggest that you talk blithely about bombing and hijacking a plane in an airport and see what happens if security hears you. There are some jokes which are just not appropriate in public places. My primary responsibility is to maintain a gaming environment that is playable for all. Your 'right to joke' does not supercede that and imo infringes upon other player's rights in this case. Per rule 24 you attempted to circumvent the kick from the server. And the fact that you 'just don't understand,' 'NEVER read(s) the rules,' and that 'trouble follows (you)' is really no excuse. You really should take it upon yourself to read the rules, learn your rights, learn the rights of your fellow players and take some initiative and responsibility for your actions and their consequences. The assertion that you are different in game than you are in real life is a complete straw man and is not relevant to your behavior in game which is what I was concerned with. I don't particularly care about your real life. I DO care about how your behavior was with a blatant disregard for the rules you agreed to - the rules which were crafted to help create a playable environment for all players. So from this hopefully we learn, and from this we move on. I might approach such a situation in a different manner given what you've said and I would hope that you might approach such a situation in a different manner given what I have said. And to all the rest of you reading this: Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse. Stop agreeing to something if you have no idea what it is you're agreeing to. If it says wrong password then you are not banned. That message is there to let you know when you have typed in the wrong password. Please try again and carefully type your password in.

Tristran, stop baiting Aislinn. You show no contrition at all for having broken any of the rules any of the times you have done so. Your recidivism rate is 100%. edit: so you have shown some contrition after some events. At the same time you've shown a sort of daring do about not following the rules. Then again, you havent gotten characters locked more than one time as far as I know.

Okay, before I bother to read your post: You were kicked from the server for 5 minutes. If you had thought to try and log back in then you would know by know that you're not banned. You tried to circumvent the kick from the server. More to follow if I find it necessary.

ok, i admit i skimmed this thread but from what i saw i kinda think you guys aren't looking at the issue from all angles. in this economy there are many resources and factors you can consider. gold, time, physical resources, skill levels, experience etc in a simple way, most players divide their time in one of three ways: socializing, getting experience, getting gold if you could get 6.5k harv exp her harv hour AND like 2.4k from your 120 harvs that creates a stark imbalance between the haves and have nots. you harv ti because you dont want to spend the time constantly running around. you harv bl cuz you want more gc. is it somewhat imbalanced? maybe. but i honestly don't really see any compelling argumentation to that effect

anyway, been mostly out of game for the last couple weeks. spoke with francy earlier. things are mostly smoothed over. ive had good dealings with a few of the huns players. hun_papa was already in his 20's ad. he totally ignored every message sent to him and said nothing in either local or pm. poor form no matter what language a person speaks. im glad to know he knows the community ideals now. and hopefully he'll never have to know the full force that the community can bring to bear upon those that violate the ideals. my thanks to those i can count on. i spoke to only a few regarding the incident and didn't post here pending some sort of resolution/contact with the guild. so i guess things are copacetic

So FYI to all players and especially newbies, when trading at a storage, you need to pay attention to the stacks of items. Firstly, you can right click on an item in the trade window to see what it actually is. READ the description. Secondly, items can be traded to your inventory OR directly to storage if both players are close enough to storage. You can tell what is going where by looking at the picture in the trade window. An "S" denotes that the item is going into your storage. You can change that by left clicking on the item. You'll notice that the S toggles on and off. Why is this all important? just real quickly, the logic may not be intuitive but it does exist. accelerating the amount of exp and value a player gets at higher levels can itself lead to imbalances in gameplay. the systems as they exist serve to keep a modicum of challenge in the game

meh beorny, Im proud of ya for the step you took here. It takes a lot of guts and heart and thought to make a post such as the one you did. Regarding becoming the person you used to be... Ive never known you very well and I don't want to confuse the issue too much but you might consider working towards becoming the person you were meant to be and not the person you used to be. Your post here alone shows much promise catchya in game
