  3. Macintosh OS X client 1.3.3 bugs thread

The EL.INI file was deleted since I cleared out the Eternal Lands directory in Application Support. It is no big deal if I don't use Shadow Mapping, but I just don't know why it now crashes the system and it worked before on 1.3.2. I won't bother activating it, but if I did, I wouldn't be able to send you a crash log. It has no time to generate any crash logs because it freezes the entire system. Even with terminal open, I thought I could close the program, but since the whole system freezes, I am unable to do anything at all. The logs were never written too as far as I can tell. Thanks again for the port. I played non stop for about 5 hours earlier this morning.
  4. Macintosh OS X client 1.3.3 bugs thread

Mac OS X Version 10.4.8 MacBook Pro 2.16 Ghz Intel Core Duo (Early 2006 product) 2 GB of RAM Video: Chipset Model: ATY,RadeonX1600 Type: Display Bus: PCIe VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x71c5 Revision ID: 0x0000 EFI Driver Version: 01.00.068 Displays: Color LCD: Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1440 x 900 Depth: 32-bit Color Built-In: Yes Core Image: Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported I downloaded the port of 1.3.3 and overwrote el_osx in my Applications folder. The game constantly crashed until I cleared out "/username/local/Application Support/Eternal Lands" (NOTE: I backed this up so I didn't looks my map coordinate files) The game then loaded fine with no settings. However, there is one setting that locks up the application and my Mac without fail each time - Shadow Mapping. If I turn that on, it gives me the message that it set the Shadow Map Size as 512 but then locks the Application and my Mac. When using 1.3.2p1 beta for Mac, I was able to use this setting without locking it up. I did experience entire system lock ups when using EL about once every two weeks. It is the only application to ever lock up my Mac. I try to run a clean system Anyway, I don't know why it locks up but it does. I don't notice any difference graphically without it on. Thanks for the port!!
  5. 56K Modem

I normally play on a cable modem (6Mbps down) here in the US. But recently I got my Blackberry Pearl 8100 to act as a bluetooth modem for my Mac and a standard modem for my PC. I normally get 200kbps down, but have been in bad cellular spots where it was 24k down and it played just fine. So I would think 30kps down would work for ya. Welcome to EL
  6. # and @

Are you on a PC or a Mac just out of curiosity? Since you have it mapped UK, I know you can get the # sign by doing ALT+3 on the UK keyboard layout when outside of EL, but it won't recognize in EL.
  7. Mortos

Cool screenshot. btw, if you took that using just the print screen button, you can hit ALT+printscreen do just capture the active window of EL rather than the whole screen showing the webpage on the inaugural address and that you run Norton.
  8. Just to clarify, you do not need to pay anything to use team speak provided you use your own server. If you need a server, then yes you pay. However, as already stated, even if EL ran the team speak server software on an EL machine, it would be such a huge bandwidth cost. I think if a guild wanted to do this, they could easily install Skype and make a guild buddy list. And I believe Skype can do up to 5 ppl in voice chat, a podcast I listen too does this. There is also the Gizmo Project software, similar to Skype, which allows 10 ppl I believe in one voice chat.

    Lol. Thanks.
  14. Macintosh User Group [MUG] Client 1.3 Poll

I play on a MacBook Pro 15.4" Dual Core Duo (Early 2006 version) with 2 GB of RAM. Thanks for porting this!
  15. I have only been playing a month, not the years like some players. So, if this suggestion is stupid, then I apoligize. I think it would be nice if there was something in place to PM you the coordinates of your dead bag when you die. There are a lot of people who were in the woods, for instance, and not sure the exact spot. This would be an expensive item so that not every n00b had one. Maybe 20,000gc. It could be either a book you research then always have that ability or it could be a piece of jewelry you wear. The problem with that is if your wearing this item and it is one of the items dropped in the deadbag, I guess you wouldn't get the PM about your dead bag. Possible names: Book of Rememberance, Rememberance Ring, Medallion of Rememberance Book of Final Vision, Ring of Final Vision, Medallion of Final Vision or anyname you would want. Anyway, that was my idea. Again, sorry if it is lame or not suitable for EL.
  16. Sorry about that. I have only been on a month. I couldn't find anything related to this in search, but maybe I just wasn't searching very well.
  17. PRE RC bugs

Running on Windows XP Pro., EL 1.3.2p8 When I go to options (ELconfig) and turn off "Enable Sound Effects" I get this error every time: "Error initializing sound: Invalid Operation" I get the same error every time I turn off "Enable Music" I do NOT get the error when I turn on sound and music and I can hear sound and music just fine. There error never occurred on EL 1.3.2 Weird. The Manufacture window has brown borders on the squares like normal. I quit the game, reentered the game and now the square borders are green while the Mix, Mix All, Clear, and "X" buttons are brown bordered. "Manufacture" is still in brown. I #quit again, reloaded the game and now it is back to normal. Not sure if that was a one-time freak thing or not. As soon as I moved the manufacture window, the borders of the squares went green again. And sometimes it flashes from green to brown. I have never seen this with the older client.
  18. Except bagjumpers were have it even easier if they got the coordinates as well. Anyway, it was just a thought.
  19. Client test, PRE RC

I know this just came out, any time table on a Mac OSX version? Nevermind, I see this is for testing and I am sure the Mac version will come along when the next version is out. Thanks.
  20. Saint Nicholas contest

Umm, you might want to check your calendar. Orthodox Christians recognize the Julian Calendar, which would put Saint Nicholas day on December 19th.
  21. This sort of seemed ON-topic however if it is off topic, I apologize in advance that you had to move it. Are the EL server's in France or at least outside the US? If so, I am not sure how this will affect EL, if at all.
  22. So then, what is the conclusion you arrived to after watching that documentary? The conclusion I came too is that this is one of the best propaganda pieces that I've seen to date and the very same fear tactics he accuses the government of he used in this film, carefully pieced together. But he has the freedom to do that. I enjoyed it because I always like to see other's views are but I don't agree with any of his views.
  23. As a matter of fact I did. I didn't come to the same conclusions as the producer, however, the video production was not that bad compared to some documentaries that I've seen.
  24. Well, I live in the US and would respectfully say it is not a fascist state. That being said, I think the IRS already has plenty of mine and everyone else's money and doesn't need to go into the online world. How would they even enforce such a thing, especially if the servers are out of the country. I think the whole idea is just pure greed and idiotic. Just My Two Cents.
