  1. Michael Jackson dead.

He did admit, and its public knowledge, he as a middle aged man had pj sleepovers with little boys, that did in fact sleep in the same bed with him. Is this not at all creepy to the disciples of messiah jackson? EDIT: poor Farrah Fawcett needs her own thread too. I'm just fascinated with herofication, this hero worship of anyone. It amazing how overblown the persons acheivements become and how any failures or crimes are completely accepted. Any behavior is allowed, they earn the right.
  2. Team PK "instance"

I just had an additional thought, on the pro side of dynamic combat\gear restrictions. Can anyone recall a hosted PK tournament that DID NOT? have some sort of restriction. No broD at the very least. This alone to me underscores the needs for dynamic not static restrictions. I hate to see all that work in implementing going unused, this addition ensures it has long term play value. (Since it makes all the normal bitching go to zero) Again to this suggestion.
  3. Team PK "instance"

IMHO, gear and combat varible restriction options is a must. And it should be enforced by the game, via an npc both parties select what options to allow or remove. It allows duels to answer those question such as "He is a stone summoning noob, it why he wins" "Lmao if I had full [uber armor] but I don't" And so on. People could do "old school' titanium long and aug duels without stones or any uber item, and satisfy every request for a 'old school\classic' server or map. Plus the NPC should be in charge of controlling the wagered stakes, and the NPC dispenses the reward. see runecrap link, for futher comparision. EDIT: remember this means you can still compete with no restrictions, but by allowing possible restrictions to be dynamically added, you thwart it becoming disused from the 1K+ reasons people currently place on PK in el.
  4. Team PK "instance"

I remember this idea meeting resistance before (been suggested before) too much like runescape (aka Clan Wars, Duel Arena) and the boss saying (paraphrase) "I'm done implementing PK related shit, if you want to fight start a fight club" etc etc. I suggested the duel arena with the item wager, its terrible a shitty game has it, and EL does not, but perhaps now it could be implemented? So I agree with this suggestion, maybe since Asgnny suggested it, it may have a greater degree of validity. PK games, such as defend the castle (clan wars-ish), or duel arenas with wagers (2+ people) would really make it another game within a game, and keep the game active. The best PK RPG ever, which is now (temp?) closed by the commercial company that started it, was Shadowbane. It had unlimited pk, where you could kill anyone anywhere (massive world), but the main reason people played (not to gank trainers) but to fight in large sieges, destructible castles, items to capture, and so on. There were plenty of just plain Group Vs Group, but almost always around a resource (mines had to be captured to get resources from it). As far as ProHibited, suggesting to remove certain items: In that other runcrap, the game was made so the participants could use an npc that would include\exclude certain items from the contest, even going so far to make it (not to the death), teleporting the contestants when someone reached a target HP. --- Again if implementation has to do with time, there needs to be a way people can submit, ?modules to be included into the game without server access. The games development would sky rocket (speed wise) if this was part of the server core. Even in a large company, you would not give all devs direct access to the core of the server, but they could write minigames, monsters, etc without a need to risk security or the companies most valuable code.
  5. Michael Jackson dead.

Well said masterzen. I 99% listen to rock/metal, but jackson is probably 1 of my favorite musicians considering he made great music that made him 'the king of pop'. Besides, he had some insane music videos for being in the 80's. Noone will ever know if he was rly guilty of 'touching' boys, for all we know those kids were lying bastards bc mommy wanted some $...but o well, the man had talent (Not directed at you Naht, just in this talent\ok to be creepy, line of thinking. I bought 'beat it' in 45rpm vinyl when it was released. I bought "thriller" in 33rpm vinyl when it was released. (hell I even had "Ben" on 45. ) So I once listen to his music when it was released,but... (FFS name something he made that wasn't on the thriller album.) How many 40 yr old men have 'sleep-overs' for the neighborhoods boys and are defended by a cultist group admiring a Cult-of-one ? Really, this behavior, (regardless of the hallway alarm system he had, to warn him if someone was approaching his bedroom) would not have been allowed, if he had not developed a cultist following prior. Lets change his name for argument sake, some details, and lets see if it would be OK, if your son, slept over. So for arguments sake, lets alter Michael Jacksons's bio slightly. Holy fuck is this John Wayne Gacy's bio or Jackson's? No wait Gacy was born just west of there in Chicago, my bad. I insist, that no amount of alleged talent, or skill, gives you instant free-pass to do whatever the fuck you want. Not in the first case, he paid off the family for 23 million. He could have fondled me for a mere 15 million, kidding aside, anyones principles for justice could be stopped with a shitload of money. He married 2x, into fast divorces after this event, somehow a married guy with these stats, seems less creepy. Yeah, giving to charity covers it all, free pass. Well, now that he is dead, his cultist supporters will move him into god-like status. Much like a fat hill-billy that made millions singing the same songs many southern blues\rock had done before, only difference, not white :/ -bob's not a fan.
  6. Michael Jackson dead.

I had the same reaction on hearing this news, I went W00t about f-cking time. Great example how money will allow you to do anything, and act anyway. A poor person would have gone to jail or have been institutionalized long ago.
  7. New Creature: Vampires

Originally I thought the leonard creature was going to be some sort of vampire. (I have long hoped for minotaur and vampire p2p) I like this idea, along with any other undead type creature, but the last time I asked: I was told (paraphrased): "El will not have anymore undead monsters" (anymore implying skeletons and phantoms are it) I had asked for z0mbies at that time Lets hope perhaps things have changed since then, but maybe Radu is a little burnt out on the whole Vlad Ţepeş thing.
  8. This is a massive exaggeration. Placing combat games inline with those other items. If after reading your post I became angry and killed my mailman, and my lawyer can prove you put me "over the edge", should you go to jail with me?
  9. When I hit 13-14, I pretty much was on a mission to insert tab A into slot B. There is no reason to teach your children a religious fear about sex, only to have then ignore it. (Give them all kinds of sexual disfunction and hang-ups about it in the process, way to go) Teach them raising children at the age of 15, sucks ass. So teach safe sex (IE no disease, no babies). Nature, obviously thinks they are ready to reproduce, but our society is not designed to allow them to flourish in doing so. (extended families don't exist, its every man for himself, mostly) The best (tv) related thing on the topic to me, makes me laugh: Penn & Teller's Bullshit They are also great for determining other sources of humor and bullshit. Yes, USA is a fascist nation. Most Americans will flatly deny this, since they are so heavily under its propaganda system. The people that deny this fact, love to immediately request their religious\personal belief system enforced... (Political Science is a hobby\love of mine, and I am a native resident of the for-mentioned fascist country) To prevent an epic post, I'll explain my point further if this thread deviates in that direction :/ lol
  10. Rostogols, how many do you have?

I have 1. I normally keep just 1 or two, only for personal use.
  11. Bots expiring

citrine is owned by Kidberg. (ill try to contact, if I can,not sure if he plays anymore)
  12. New Positive Perk!

    Magic Immunity Perk FTW
  13. Um killed by a sword 50 feet up

This, I believe, will be 'fixed' with the introduction of the new engine in development. Probably many other things as well.
  14. Yeti spawns

OmFg this will ruinz teh game. Just kidding, I agree. I would also like to see ACs in non pk maps. Personally I would love to see 'zones' with 4-8 monsters per zone, instead of this 1 monster here, one monster there stuff. Is the reason for the low creature count, server load? Maybe just make C2 the monster zone maps. (I think SKF is probably the most monster filled vs size in C1). I do hope the reason against this is NOT "it will make it too easy to level" If it will make the virtual sadists happy, I promise to smash my fingers with hammer after every gameplay session. Queues suck, it makes players horde monsters spawns since they waited 1 hour for the damn thing in first place. Yes I am dying to see what 'anti-fun brigrade' says, this should be an interesting thread (IBTL!)
  15. New engine test (terrain)

Ran perfectly fine. No errors. ~200-250 FPS Video card: GeForce 6200/AGP/SSE2 Vendor ID: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL Version: 2.1.2
  16. Important notice for young people

(sorry in advance, I ended up soapboxing ) Heh. I know of players as young as 8. ....darn....the forums are a little busted right now. I just edited out a number of "failed" attempts that I made to post this. Well thats good information to be aware of, However my point is only this: (really offtopic point, but covers -show your parents everything you interact with- part) *by the age of 14+ you should be able to form your own opinions without parental approval. Hence the implied, anyone under that age should at the very least understand their parents opinions. I was lucky, my parents would not tell me their political-religious-etc opinions until I was old enough to have form my own opinions. This was to prevent me from developing long term biases merely based on knowledge I was fed as a child. Here is why vague terms muddy the waters till you can't see the bottom. So you say: (Its societies role to inform, vunerable elements of society (itself) from [insert even more vague bad elements of society] ) ? See how wonderfully ambigous this is? How do you define both the vunerable elements and then somehow bad elements? Most of the southern USA would define -bad elements- of a society by religous beliefs or the color of the person skin. Who defines what? So truthfully, its the parents role to determine the information they need to give their child in order to properly raise them. No vague group in society can do this, let the parent determine what misguided or proper information they give their child. I don't believe anyone stated the safety of children is not important anywhere in this thread. The main point has been, whose responsibility is it, to educate your child? Yours, not the government, not societies. Truthfully, the other members of -society- wants your child to fail, they do not want your child to subplant the sucess of their own. These people are hardly the ones I would want teaching my child. ------ But seriously if you see my FREE CANDY van, I'M LEGIT! Well, thats the point, who do you warn your child about? I say "assume everyone that you do not know, and even those you do, may have bad intentions" Look at the statistics, most children are not abused by strangers, but by family members. How do you warn your child about his\her [insert family member here]? See this: link
  17. Important notice for young people

Agreed, its the parents duty, after that is the child's duty. (on privacy) Really, people are developing a bizarre habit of posting (a blog) information about every thing in their lives, some going as far to video it. Now almost everyone has a camera of some sort on them, that slip and fall could become viewed by thousands. So there will be an entire generation that believes, this is somehow normal, to feed the voyeurs. (self identity) (By 14-15+ they must be thinking for themselves. I am against them showing their parents things such as forum posts. They should be able to form opposite opinions to those of their parents. If they allowed their parents to be aware of their real political or social opinions, they are certainly awaiting a parental brainwash session.) (earth: some objects are more rectangle than they appear) All people will use information, good or bad, for their own motives, regardless the context, or age. When pushed, regardless of someones alleged ideals, we will freely smash each others heads in with a rock for the last berries on the bush. So warning anyone, is dumb. Welcome to planet earth, Some people will fuck you over without reservations, some need to be pushed, either way, heads up. DON"T PANIC. (awaiting inclusion in the Hitchhikers Guide)
  18. Evanescence Perk and Def XP

I did few hours of testing on this perk, a year or so ago, before I decided on evanescence perk. I tested 20-30ad charas with and without to see if I received more def exp per hour. Same gear, same everything, with the perk, I received more def exp. It would be great to get some official response on this, since if its the case (do not receive more exp), I have a bizarre anomaly to solve in the def exp increase.
  19. That won't work, because if you have 20 'representatives' they will not cover an equal amount of players. So for example if you have 7 fighters, 6 harvesters and 7 manufacturers, the decissions might be biased against the ahrvesters, even though probably the harvester representatives cover a lot more per capita than the fighter representatives. You know that quote: Democracy is 2 wolves and a goat voting what to eat for dinner. It would be even more unfair than voting, because voting allows everyone to say their opinion. I think I must not be expressing myself properly. That example is not what I am implying. In this idea (this isn't theory) you have 1 player representing the manufacture skill. Any ideas to alter change that particular skill must be submitted to the player advocate assigned to that role. The respresentive in charge of the manu skill WILL be expressing ideas biased towards other skills, he will only be able to express the desires of that one particular skill. The devs tell the advocate: Won't happen OP, and so on. If its something that unbalances another skill, the advocate contacts the advocate in charge of that skill and the two groups try to hit a balance with the idea (if they wish it to be implemented) This isn't citizen democracy, this is represenative democracy, the goat gets his say and his no eat goats lobby already helped pass the 'DoN't eet teh goawts' law, prior. Personally, I just say, do whatever you wish. Its your project and personally I wouldn't bother with polls. At its core, polls come down to: (I wish to change the game) replies (OOMFG no WAI don't change eet!) Regardless what the change may be...It comes down to power exchanges, and people feeling powerless in the face of change, but I'll forego the epic post on this
  20. That is how the player advocate system excels, its designed to be 100% biased. Since its impossible to gather a group of people that speak with some altruism for the good of the whole (these people don't exist). The player advocate system ensures you have selected people to trumpet the needs, in a very biased and self interested way, on behalf of the group. (For instance, playerA is elected manu skill advocate, and only speak on behalf of this skill. It up to the devs to see 'the big picture', since they are really the only one qualified to do so) It helps to consolidate these desires by a group and one person is responsible for submitting the groups desires in a clean proposal form. This allows the devs to read it, sans bitching. It removes the Us vs Them feeling, the developers\players always seem to foster in these types of games. I don't think this system ever caused elite status, since at a whim of the masses, any elected player can be instantly demoted from advocate status. Basically if you stop speaking on our behalf, uR FiReD! [As I type this an idiom comes to mind, I think I'm just 'pissing in the wind']
  21. Well other games use this sort of system: Player Advocates: Candidates are elected by majority vote and final selection is made by the staff\developers of the game. Players submit ideas to their respective advocate and that person petitions the developers for particular changes. Makes things easier, the developers only interact with a handful of players, submitting proposal-like ideas in a sane and concise manner (required for the position). If player want to bitch, they bitch to the advocate. Players are never allowed a debate of any sort with the game actual developers, only with the elected advocate. The advocate can be voted out by players, or fired by developers at any moment. (also the Radu does whatever he wants to his game and we play or not works too. It is his project, we have chosen to play, Can you all imagine how frustrated you would get if anything you wanted to do to -your- project had to pass a damn committee?) But I understand about keeping a client\user base happy, and perhaps player advocates is a nice middle ground. (It worked nicely in one game, currently coming to an end after 6 yrs (commercial game) )
  22. Depletable Resources Poll

Voted Yes. Its something that should have been day one. It should be implemented regardless of the poll results, bitchers can leave, and we can gather new players. That would open up fixing many things instead of not changing them for fear of losing any player base. I have long harvested while I am working, or half ass working, and I know this must change. This is a game and it cannot progress as a minimized rpg I pop up every few minutes to whore out some resource. I am glad to see the end of silent afk harvesters. (The market for ALL items will suddenly become far more dynamic in prices. It the original reason I started playing, as a dwarf merchant)
  23. Can it be repaired ?

My 2nd option is such information should be stored in the encyclopedia. [in regards to degraded] See, an item doesn't really degrade, it becomes another item, "Steel Two Edged Sword" becomes "Used Steel Two Edged Sword" its another item with different stats. The game does not have unique item ids (if so, a durability system would be in place), so the way the eye icon works, is exactly the same for a normal or degraded\changed item. [in regards to degradable] Eye icon reports: "Used Steel Two Edged Sword" Or "Steel Two Edged Sword" exactly the same. (reports the items name) Now if this is what she meant "Steel Two Edged Sword - this item can degrade into Used Steel Two Edged Sword repairable at: Tankel" really is something for the encyclopedia.
  24. #sto

Are we talking about bots or storage NPCs? the storage system (#sto) is NPC only.
  25. Can it be repaired ?

Forgive me if I am misunderstanding you but, Eye <@> icon reports the name of the item, Like "Used Steel Two Edged Sword". Although we say an item degrades, it really just becomes another item with lesser stats than the item it was previously. So retrieving the name of a -normal- item and a -degraded- item is exactly the same. Or... do you mean "an item can degrade to a lesser item and can be repaired at an npc" ? If this is the case, isn't this really something for the encyclopedia instead of sent by the server?
