  1. Just so Proud of this ..

Very beautiful maybe just one thing: a bit more texture on the hands... the skin seems too smooth.
  2. Advanced Broker-Bot

Vakana offers a lot of services to the players of EL (possibly too many, since some people find the list of commands a bit overwhelming at times, but oh well). Notice, services to players. Not bots. What I meant is that in our case rraisa would only proxy the information from bots to players, acting in their place in fact. I wanted to oppose this view to that of 'resource wasting' being decried earlier. For instance the example of stealing water from your neighbor isn't pertinent at all I think, because the 'thief' doesn't make any use of it. The ones that would benefit are normal players, but bot owners, as good capitalists, don't want this to happen, they want to keep their control on the market (maybe i got this right at least? speaking about economy). Control of the powerful, gee, that goes so well with exploitation of the masses... Nothing like bringing up visions of explosions and violence to put across your point, eh? My points where explained in the former 90% of the post. This was just a flamish conclusion so it was supposed to receive an equally facetious answer (if any).
  3. Operating System

Gentoo linux here. Long live to gentoos
  4. Advanced Broker-Bot

@robotbob: I dunno how your connection's fares work (do they account time? or even bytes sent? o_O), but where's stealing if you give a public service and somebody simply uses it? Nobody is using your bandwidth for they purposes but to communicate with you, that's what you're for on EL and why you've got one or more bots, and what YOU have decided to pay for: letting others use your bot. There is no one stealing anything. If some users are unwanted do anything you want to block access to them. There is no authority too, setting prices. NO authority SETTING prices. (If the messages from rraisa you define bullshit i don't know how your statements can be defined oO.) And what does the heck mean an 'authority' on values for players? They are just made able to compare stocks (and possibly pricing) in an easier way than they can already do. No one is imposing anything. THIS is free market. Not you telling others how they should behave, nor they telling it to you. If users stop using your bot it'll be just because you're not offering an interesting service. Whining for that and forcing things (forcing what other player can do) so that it won't happen ISN'T FREE market. The only one that wants to tell others how they should act is you. Maybe when there are explosive weapons in EL you'll be more effective in exporting your democracy. In the meanwhile hold on.
  5. Reasoning removal stone

I sold one a few days ago to a bot in Portland, although i don't remember its name, but try and take a look there

  7. blast from the past!

Also, the first version of the gui looked quite nice. Couldn't we have something more like that with the F6 switch?
  8. Disclosure of the rate changes

I'm quite with placid about the general rarity of items. Indeed the problem arise not just when there are unlimited amount of resources, but when these resources are endlessly bought by shops with unlimited amount of gc they can spend. The difference between RL and EL market is indeed the scarcity of resources: the balance between their availability and their demand is one of the (main?) factors determining their price. (I think i'm not adding anything new here.) We could say that this at least happens in EL for 'rare items'. Or not? Well not... because, like i pointed it out at the beginning, the money needed to buy these rare items has got a virtually unlimited source (it is actually linked to how much time players can spend harvesting things). That is, any price sellers 'decide', buyers will easily settle with. You can approximate the amount of money available, and the demand, as infinite, while offer varies, thus the price is mostly determined by those how control supply.

  10. You know yoy play EL too much when...

You play EL too much WHILE doing too many other things on the pc if: You start to strike franticly CTRL-ALT-DOWN/UP (to change virtual desktop) to pass form console view to normal view in EL and can't find the right desktop it's in (Well actually this happens to me anytime when i don't find in which desktop i left some window )
  11. Main languaje

I can't understand this language totalism you think that local variations of a language aren't worthy of being given an identity? because you're rushing from one extreme to the opposite you know... Yeah say to brazilians that they speak portuguese (i knew some brazilian players in EL): they will look strange at you if not feel upset or say to the speakers of the many regional dialects of Italy they just speak a vulgar/degraded/adulterated form of italian... good luck And please don't take 'international english' (or worse, internet english) as "The English Language", that's more like a sort of pidgin, and is different from american english as well as from british english or any other flavo(u)r of it. I know that saying they are separate definite languages is silly but saying they don't even exist is even sillier. Btw if it wasn't clear, Italian here and Istro-Venetian dialect (Triestin if I can be more specific)
  12. Virtue Points

You can make it so that when you kill someone with a positive karma yours decreases, and vice-versa. As for killing 'harmless' animals, that's a tough question... maybe if you kill them without picking up their rests it's bad karma, but then again that would make killing animal just for training a/d very unworthy (and i think it's hard to implement too). So also adding a modifier based on the ratio between attack levels could work, so that if you go with stronger animals your karma could increase (or at least just NOT decrease)... and well you can just tweak their innate karma level... just some ideas.
  13. City building

I totally love the idea of a mmorpg actually built up by its players. (And not them being just a money/items vector from one point to the other and from one NPC to the other.) Obviously if you want someone that's in charge of strategic positions inside a city you need to have a ranking system like that in guilds, just to say who can or cant do what. But this mean in no way that cities will be guilds' cities... Yet you need someone to start the city, Given the lack of information on how these cities would work, I could fancy something like this: - You have a pristine map with space to build a city. (Or many cities, like with a few 'city slots' in a huge map) - Whoever wants to found a city goes to one of these slot and pay (whatever the payment method) a good wealth of a fee to start the city; he/she becomes automatically the Mayor of the city (that with higher rank) and can set rank/citizenship status of other players - To maintain the city you (well those with the right rank) have to pay a periodic fee based upon which facilities you have developed in the city and/or the 'tech level' gained (continuing the civ parallel, which is sort of what these city are going to look like, as I can understand). Bigger cities will require a lot of money so they'll need to have a lot of citizens being able to contribute. If the fee isn't paid the mayor lose ownership of the city and this can be overtaken by anybody. (This point need a little more reflection though, i think, like deciding if the new occupants can reuse the facilities already established or have to start everything anew, or any other form of bonus/handicap.) - The political system. The way citizens contribute to the city. These are all and entirely left to the players. We could well have a tyrant that does everything by himself but which get paid by citizens all the same because he is able to, say, give protection to them citizens. We can have a democratic organization. We could even have one player that owns (for some obscure reason) a gazillion of gc and can maintain a whole city all by himself (could even be a mod holding a city set up for noobs) uh... for the elections matter... the mayor (and only the mayor) can nominate his successor... well if he/she refuses to do so, let civil war begin (like the players stop paying the taxes, there are no more money to run the city so everything goes poof. However more fanciful ways to take down a government are well accepted. See also next about warfare.) - Those in charge can indicate the enemies of the city. Those people are pkable inside the city's boundaries (or they can take the initiative of an attack). (This point also need expansion.) Some PS about the warfare part: single players, whole guilds or whole cities can be declared as enemy. The war declaration between city is unilateral: if one declares war the other get in automatically. So the enemy, unwanted or not, can come and siege your town. A mayor that get killed inside his city lose the ownership so the enemy can take his place (if he has the resources to do so, populating the city with new inhabitants—given the old ones don't want the invader—and such, otherwise it will just resolve in an incursion). Citizens can resign their status and become enemies (if declared as such by the city's institutions or by teaming with an enemy faction) of the city and try to take down the government... W la revolución!
