You are right Grum, i forgot to put that part of the equation, i edited my previous post to change it. As for the question whether or not a tree falls if there are no witnesses, the fact that there are no witnesses does not mean it did not happen, we are just unaware that it did happen. But anyways, if we went off tangent was not because of me. I was just trying to explain it.

Friction has everything to do with an object losing mass. Did you mean this equation? m=m0/sqrt(1-v^2/c^2) With this equation an observer at rest would think the mass of the object "appears" to be heavier than it would if the observer were moving at the same speed as the object. The notion that mass reaches infinity when travelling at near the speed of light was first brought up by Einstein. But if the observer were travelling at the same speed as the object, the mass of the object would look contracted or the same as at rest. It is a perception. The mass "appears" to the observer to have changed with increased speed. Reality is determined by your point of view. But anyways, relativistic mass is an outdated notion. You do not have to take my word. This is from a scientific forum and in here i also post the link in case you want to see it. "Sacroiliac Thanks, HallsofIvy. I asked this same question at another forum and a full fledged gravitational physicist posted this answer (unfortunately he thought I was talking about relativistic mass) Gravitational fields do look different for an object moving relative to an observer, but it's not in the simple way you might suppose from the notion of "relativistic mass". Relativistic mass is somewhat of an outdated notion, and it's much more useful to consider the "mass" to be the rest mass of the object (which is, for instance, what matters for determining if something is a black hole). So a thing won't turn into a black hole just by moving relative to you. There will be changes in the gravitational field observed, but you can't discuss those changes without a full tensor model of GR, which would take at least a semester." http://www.sciforums.com/archive/index.php/t-21215 Well, its time for me to go to work, laters.

The mass of an object is not different when it moves than when it is at rest unless there is enough friction for the object to lose mass. When an object moves very fast and you see a blur, it is because of perception and that's another matter. The brain is trying to interpret what it is seeing and your interpretation of that object will be different when it moves too fast for the brain to interpret what it is. Everything is relative to its environment, even time is relative. It is known that two atomic clocks that were started at the same time, one on the ground and one on an airplane miles above the ground will give different times, in seconds, but a noticeable difference. You can search that online also. But speed does not change weight at all, it changes it's kinetic energy and the kinetic energy increases with more speed. The weight of an object will be different on the Moon than on Earth because the forces (mainly gravity) on the Moon is/are not the same as those on Earth. You can also see a difference if you weight yourself or an object on top of a high mountain and in a deep valley below sea level.

*shakes head* You better go back to taking physics because you didn't seem to understand it. I really doubt that you passed physics if you said this to a professor, yes laws of physic are theories, but many of those theories have been proven time and again and this is one of them. Objects' weight do not change with speed.... a two ton car continues being a two ton car when it is at rest, or when it goes 100 miles per hour. The same thing with an asteroid or any other object. You have different effects because at rest it only has potential energy, any object that has mass has potential energy at rest. It becomes kinetic energy once that object has motion and that kinetic energy increases with its increase in speed, but weight is always the same, weight has to do with mass and the mass of an object does not change because of speed, it can change if there is enough friction, lessening its mass, as meteorites do when they enter the Earth's atmosphere.... That's the last time i am going to explain this, enough rant. so you get dumber to get smarter? that's a new one for me. if you seriously want to learn about this, use any online search tool, like Google and do a search on it potential energy, or kinetic energy you might learn a thing or two.

i have no idea who you are and i don't think you know me. Most of my friends are still in the military, and the few civilians I can call friends i met through my girlfriend. i do know this about you thou, you sure are hard headed, just as much as i am. But hey, if you want to think weight changes because of kinetic energy and you want to flunk your physics class, that's fine by me.
  6. jumping

HAHAHA, now you are trying to call me fat? If i was it wouldn't be an insult, i would just use that frame to sit on your skinny neck  lol. But that change is because of its kinetic energy, you weight objects at rest, not when they are in movement, and when the object comes at rest once more it weights the same, no change in weight. BTW don't tell that to any physics teacher or you will flunk the class. As for moving the Earth with people jumping on top of it, please....it doesn't work like that, it wouldn't move even a nanometer. This is just another urban legend.

The weight of an object remains the same at higher speed, what changes is its kinetic energy. The kinetic energy of an object is directly proportional to the square of its speed, it doesn't change its weight. If you want to get mad for the incorrect information you posted that's fine by me. I'll make a compromise, you try your experiment and show me pictures of how the experiment was done, and pictures of your face before and after, then I'll make sure it appears on america's funniest videos.

Let me make this allegory. Take a steel bucket and fill it with water, now spin it around you with both hands on the handle as fast as you can. Now have a buddy of yours throw a baseball at the bucket at the same speed you are spining the bucket. If you were spinning the bucket fast enough what would happen is that the bucket would have a dent but the only thing flying would be the baseball. To make another allegory, a baseball bat and a baseball, same principle and same results. The baseball player is the force that is keeping the Earth in its orbit. The speed of the Earth in its orbit its about 67,000 miles an hour. Now if you throw something that has more mass than a baseball bat, the baseball bat would fly from the player's hand or shatter and all its pieces would be thrown all over the place. More or less that is exactly what would happen to the Earth if something with bigger mass collides with it. One thing that could make the earth change orbit is if an asteroid hiting the Earth takes out a big chunk from Earth the size of the US and about 80-100 miles thick, but this would move the Earth to a new orbit about 70,000 miles at is further point closer to the sun. A comet is made out of ice and dirt, a comet of such size would wipe out life on earth but it would not take out a chunck from it. Asteroids are composed of rock, carbon or metal. I don't even want to comment on your quote.
  9. I would like to know the general prices.

Thanks, now what i need is leather pants and helm, anyone selling please post here or pm me.
  10. exp needed for next level did not reset.

humm, it is alright now. It seems it took longer this time to reset.
  11. My defense is 21, the problem is that it seems the exp needed to go to the next level did not reset, this is what it reads. Defense 21/21 [49983/47638] I killed quite a few things since i reached level 21, but it doesn't seem to reset for the next level. Anyone had this problem before?

It does not move at all, trust me, it takes a lot of energy to knock a planet off its orbit, (more than 6 billion people jumping..) and once it is knocked out it revolves around a new orbit, it does not go back to its original position. Not even all the nuclear arsenals that all nations have combined would knock the Earth off orbit, it would wipe most life from the planet, but there is not enough energy to be knocked off our present orbit. Only a planet many times the size of the Earth crashing against us would change its orbit, or a black hole. And quantum physics do not explain half of what happens in the universe, this is why the unified theory has not been found yet, it is still in the works. Enough rant for today, lets have fun and play EL.
  13. hehe, i didn't mean only on clicking, but depressing the right button and keeping it like that and still walk around, instead of clicking every two seconds to keep walking.
  14. cool trick - count the F's

got all 6, pretty cool exercise thou.
  15. jumping

If all the people living in the earth right now jumped at the same time in one spot...nothing would happen. The earth would not move, it would take an object bigger than earth, many times its mass, going very fast before crashing into the earth to change the orbit of our planet and that's all that would happen, (along with wiping out every living thing on the planet, and if the body crashing against us is big enough taking out a good chunk of the earth to become a new asteroid belt or new moon) no bouncing or anything like that, its that simple and btw, we don't really know how gravity works. Scientists are trying to come up with a superstring theory that would fulfill Einstein's dream on a theory of everything which will unite all theories (unified field theory) and fill in the gaps letting us know and understand "everything." Right now there are many unexplained things happening that the current laws of physics can't explain. Like the unexplainable connection between two electrons which no matter the distance you put them they seem to communicate in some way with each other reacting to whatever happens to the other. According to Dr Michu Kaku this new theory could be explained in an equation about an inch long and whoever discovers it (it is a discovery not an invention) would be the new Einstein in this millenium and a very rich person. So think away if you want to become rich.
