  1. "Make Brod hits announced in @PK Central" I agree. About the perk now. Even if Ent will add the Brod effect, none will take it. I doubt if anybody has it anyway. The reason? You need many pps for a perk that offers almost nothing. Unless the cost was just 1 pickpoint. Or if we could get this perk with a Quest. Same with Fatal Man perk. Too many pps are required so none has it and none will take it unless the cost was 3 pps or so.
  2. Ubuntu 9.10, EL crashing at startup...please help

    This problem has nothing to do with nvidia. I have the same problem in my Laptop using ubuntu 9.10 and an ati card. And this bug or whatever it is affects many other programms not just el. Someone solved this problem by enabling again bluetooth services. bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111) bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111) bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111) bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111) el.x86.linux.bin: radeon_mipmap_tree.c:117: compute_tex_image_offset: Assertion `lvl->size > 0' failed. The last part is a bug that has to do with the open soutce ati driver.
  3. Best Linux Distro?

    Best linux distribution? It depends from your needs and your taste. For advanced users that need full control of their system and something really fast the best distros in my opinion are Arch, Gentoo, Debian and in some cases Slackware. Another good distro for both advanced and newbies is Sabayon. At the end of installation you will have a fully working 3d Desktop with compiz enabled and all multimedia codecs installed by default. Sabayon has also the best artwork i ever saw in the Linux world and the installation of the system is as easy as Ubuntu. If you are experienced you can use portage and turn Sabayon into a pure Gentoo. If you are a newbie or you too lazy to compile everything from source you can use equo and Spritz. It's something like apt-get.
  4. Question about the economy

    The biggest problem is the luck of newbie players. Newbie's that buy stuff would solve many problems. But with penalties and limitations, the game will be less fun espessialy for newcomers that played other MMORPG games with no economy. Some items do need a higher break ratio though. A good example are moon medallions. Additional god quests(rare stones-expensive armour and weap's) would be a quick solution. Another problem is the luck of a real pvp system. No, i don't mean pk. I mean mini pvp games(capture and carrie the opponents scull for example) inside a pvp instance. Being pr0 in such games won't be important so all players will play. (and many items will break)
  5. Changes To Combat

    To have a pure mage means that we must be able to train magic exactly the way we are having a/d training. That means that all spells (not restoration though) should give more experience. All spells (not restoration) should become cheaper. Otherwise you can't train magic seriously or you can't have a pure mage. Should a mage or a ranger wear plate set's? Changes to combat would be nice but also complicated to be implemented.
  6. El client is available in the Greek edition of the "Linux Format" magazine this month. If it's included on the Greek edition of the magazine i guess that the English version of the magazine will have El too on its Dvd. That's the way i discovered El btw.
  7. OSOMN's ridiculous power

    People that harvest blue lupins don't have good stats. So even if they get those swords and armors they are weak like beavers. On the other hands after caps all those swords are not so powerfull. The only problem i see is that all those weapons are rare. If everybody had them none would complain. By removing them the game will become boring for manuers. So if u don't like blue lupines become a manuer and make them.
  8. Trojan Knight mate me and Harondas posted in some forums in my country about EL. The reactions we saw were "its difficult", "its beta", "no classes" and things about graphics. Graphics were improved and will be improved even more as i hear. Of course you didn't know that....so don't try to tell me how to help EL.
  9. The main problem with EL is that its a pure old fashion MMORPG. That means that its very difficult in every skill. People are used in other MMORPG where everything is easy. Lets see an example. In RL i don't have enough time. Well if i play el for one hour i can't have fun. In one hour i ll get 300K exp and i need a few more millions of exp for the next OA. In other games in one hour you can improve your stats or earn cash. Unfortunately most of el players never played another game and they can't understand it. Second it lucks in PVP. Believe me pk in EL is probably the most fun think i 've ever seen. But for 99% of players there is no reason for them to pk. El is allready hard for them and pk is a loss of money. (Thats the hard truth) Another reason is the word BETA. We all know that el is almost bug free and playable. But for people out there BETA means buggy and unstable. Skills are boring. At my level of manufacturing i can manu some items like cutlass. So? Every single time i ll make the same sword. There is no random enchanting. Same stats again and again. The same sword, the same price in the market. No suprises! Maybe after a few years i ll make a cutlass of the mage. But chances are extremely rare and the weapon is extremely strong... Need for other spells and class. Well this has to do with remote healing and buffing for PVP and PVE. None can heal 5 people in a small area around him. (i don't mean remote heal one single person) None can buff his guildies against the dragon or against pr0dude. Buffs? Well priest or paladin is casting and his guildies get +5 armor, or +5 critical to hit, or +2 def or whatever. That is happening in other MMORPG games and that means i am "doing other things."

    At least I play this game to have FUN -_-' It doesn't matter if I get profit from everything if it's fun. If u just do boring things from which u get good profit but they aren't fun, u have a problem. Unfortunately many players are having fun by harvesting and afk chatting. Maybe for you or for me other activities in game are boring but for most el players fun is everything else except pk. If fun was enough kilaran field would be full every day. So yes the idea is good but consider that its very difficult to afford 30 minutes of pk every day. Time will show.

    Its a good idea. Cheaper pk. People that allready pk will probably pk a bit more often. But the main problem remains. No profit from pk. No motives. Pk will remain the only activity in game where you lose money and get nothing. (gc-exp-armor etc) Pvp in el is one of the best i ve seen in MMORPG'S. The problem is that fun is not enough for most players and espesially for newcomers.

  15. Useless items

    I think every great sword is good, it depends on how you use it? Rapier got good criticals, and SBoD aint that bad, last time i've seen some1 broding a player with it twice in 1-2 mins, and it doesnt break that fast as brod? BTW. Have you EVER tested those special weps? and explain WHY some are better/nicer then other weps? -Fry Rapier had good crits. But its checked against player with same stats with me. I owned him with cutlass. And i was owned when i took Rapier. Cutlass and JS are much better. And if u fight against a weak player Orc Slayer is fine. I tested some special swords. I sold Sunbreaker of Destruction after a lot of testing and fights. And the one that bought it from me sold it too... I would never sell my JS of cooling though. I hope i answered..

    I agree with Mango that we need more slots for spells. About swords now.. I can make all those swords and i checked most of them (even their special versions.) Sunbreaker is probably the worst. Even Sunbreaker of destruction sucks. Rapier has better stats than sunbreaker but cutlass is still much better. Rapier of death is nice though. Eaglewing is more useful after caps but cutlass and JS are better. Maybe random results while creating swords would be a solution. Something like Sunbreaker of accuracy-Rapier of coordination-Eaglewing of physique or whatever.

    I have titanium plate of freezing. Sometime's its working really good but someothers its buggy. Just to add some uselless items. 1)Axe of freezing. Is this item still in game? 2)All kind of axes 3)All swords except from Orc Slayer, JS and Cutlass. (Rapier, eagle wing etc). 4)Steel ,titanium, bronze helms. Can we talk about uselless spells too?

    So basicly it makes more a difference in WoW then in EL? In p2p games it makes more a difference. Its cheating. Its like suddenly your coordination was boosted from 12 to 36. In el items from the shop keep the game free.

    There is a huge difference between el gold and p2p games gold. I bought in the past Rostos from the shop to pk a bit and that was it. If i wanted to buy a Nexus i should pay a lot of cash. In p2p games with 200 gold through enchanting you can add to your char stats like 80 stamina+16 agility. 1000 gold is 400 extra stamina+80 agility. Thats why they have caps for a period in p2p games. And that's the reason why people do other things. They want to level up through gold-items and pk. Leveling is gold-item-pk based and not training based like el.

    Cuil was made from ex google programmers. At the moment Cuil seems reliable.

    I agree with Segor. Just some questions... 1)Can a mage wear full plate or just leather? 2)Can a mage use a thermal serp or only a wand? 3)Should a mage be able to fight with melee weapons or only from distance? At the moment only perks (not spells) make sense.
  22. PK suggestions- read it ent.

    Some suggestions in the thread are pretty interesting. But what is PK? PK is fun but also a waste of rostos, armor,weapons, essences, summoning stones, pots. So its fun for only a few people. Maybe with some changes players that already pk will pk a bit more often but thats all. 1 year ago the economy was different. Yetis were weaker and they had better drops like titanium plates. Players didn't save money to buy pps. So they could waste some gc to pk a bit. So no matter what you suggest here nothing will change because at the moment pk doesn't offer something. And for a harvester, an alcher fun is not to waste gc. If players don't have motives to pk (experience, gc, drops, rewards) nothing will change no matter what you suggest here. DP arena was successful because high level and experienced players were pking against newbies that were entering the arena with expensive equipment but without a rosto. To attract a non pker, pk should benefit him more than training, alchemy, crafting, blacksmithing, ranging etc.

    Guild maps! 3-4 maps maximum. Guild maps have nothing to do with this.

    Not at all. They may pk for the whole day and get only 10 he's or even nothing. Or they may die from other players. Of course some pk areas should be removed so that people would know where to search. And the chances to get something really nice should be rare. My opinion is that pk should offer the same things with training. By reducing the prices of Rostogol Stones and making pk cheaper is a nice idea. But the only thing that will change is that players that allready pk will pk a bit more often. To attract non pker's, rewards are needed. (items, gc, exp, stones or whatever). To prevent abuse completely Pk events should be connected with the losses of rostogol stones. But lets say that players are capable to abuse the system. So? Someothers will try to do the same and they will end up killing each other...
  25. PK Suggestions Thread.

    A crazy idea that might work. "Random Pk events." Something like random harvesting events. While pking player x was blessed with 1000 magic exp or 3000 attacking exp etc. Player Y while pking found 10 hes and 3 damage rings in his inventory. Player X is hunting rabbits in the Elysian fields but a serpent stone or 1 rop was added in his inventory. All the above thing are just some examples. There should be also a rare chance for pker's to be rewarded with something really rare and expensive that non pker's need. The general idea is to reward people that risk their equipment.
