  1. If chat messages containing the player's password are going to be intercepted (not sent), of course that shouldn't be done silently.A warning message should contain "don't give out your password" as well as something like "if this was just a part of a normal conversation, your password is obviously way too easy; please change it (see Help)". Nice when done properly, but I'm not sure if it's really necessary. Replacing the password with ***** (instead of not sending the message) is a big NO though; it would (1) pamper the password scammers who use that age-old trick, and (2) draw undesired attention when the password is indeed simply a word and being used in normal conversation.
  2. 0ctane's Leukemia Lottery v2.0

Donations by paypal don't show up in the "thanks to" list on your page?(Not worrying about my donation since you responded, just taking a guess why people don't show up there. )
  3. please fix the attack icon

I'm not sure if I understand the issue here; after you click on an item with ACTION_USE_WITH, it's likely that you want to use that item with something in the scenery, so you want the action_mode to be changed to ACTION_USE_WITH (but indeed, I can't see why ACTION_USE in the inventory/quick bar should change the action_mode?).After the use-with action (or magic action) is done, I guess the action_mode should go back to the previous state. (I don't know the EL code well enough, so please correct or nevermind me if I'm wrong.) It's very convenient to keep item_action_mode and qb_action_mode separated. For example if you need to use ACTION_USE_WITH a lot, you can keep qb_action_mode ACTION_USE_WITH and item_action_mode ACTION_USE, so you don't have to cycle through the different modes each time you need the other.
  4. Apologize

Rofl! You just made my day! Awesome game, just leaving crucial information out! _____ Ok, edit, I'll play along and make it more clear for you: So, second part (below the divider) is about "community point of view". With "community point of view" I mean how people play the game, what is (generally or not) considered as "good" and what as "bad". I still play by the "community rules" that were quite set before some group of pk'ers and bagjumpers started whining that it was so unfair that they or their friends could be posted here (when it was still called Outlaws forum, until ~Summer 2007 iirc) and that it ruined their reputation... And let it be clear that the game rules have nothing to do with "community rules/values", and vice versa. "Community rules/values" is about anything that is, by game rules, permitted in this game. What these "community rules/values" are, is different for everybody, or even non-existing to some.
  5. Changes to client

Thanks, very much appreciated! The smaller button is something I'll get used to. (Or I'll just start drinking less...)
  6. Apologize

People change. Sure, but unless those people at least support their words with clear and public actions, there will be people who don't even trust them their little finger, for a long time (as has been pointed out by Ketiana <{POST_SNAPBACK}> too). I'm not sure if I should see this "apology" as a sad crawl back out of his/her believes that he/she should represent the most evil side of the usually social, helpful, and generous gnome, OR as another sad attempt to trickz0rz the naive souls of Draia again. _____ Let me make clear that, from a game point of view, I totally acknowledge and in a way even support the existence of the "bad" side of the community. But from a community point of view, I completely disapprove of anything close to bagjumping, or PK'ing people who are training or travelling through PK areas. Anyone stating that the "outlaws" (gasp! I mentioned the banz0red word!!) of this community are "at least playing the game", and implying (explicitly or not) that the victims/reporters of those actions do not, clearly missed something crucial. (Oh wait, let me spell it out: they play the game too, not a bit more or less than the "outlaws".) Anyone stating that "community rules" are BS or don't mean anything to them, too bad, there will always be players who play with some socially important values in mind. Anyone stating that bagjumping is totally ok "because people know there are bagjumpers around so it's your own f'ing fault if you get bagjumped", yeah sure, try to convince yourself first please! Anyone feeling addressed by one of these "anyone"s, please go ask yourself who is "at least playing the game", the people reporting the "outlaws" of the community in this forum, or yourself, the true whiners about this aspect of the game. , you all anyway!
  7. best pk drop ever

Aislinn, dropping at my feet on a no-drops day long time ago.
  8. Why not use the context menu (right-click on the tabs, both the Tabbed chat ones and the Chat window ones) to change the channels' colors? Of course we can't leave out the users of Old behavior; would a way to show the tabs temporarily suffice? Like making the upper-left corner of the client a "hot corner": - mouse to the hot corner shows the tabs, - mouse not over the tabs (or context menu) for two seconds hides them again. It would be awesome already without the ability to save them, but sounds good! There are more things that don't get saved yet either, like opaque background of individual windows (ctrl+d), and mini-map being shown.
  9. Just like you, with that bolded sentence, give the people who express their opinion that bot messages should be limited a "punch in the face"? A bot is not a living person. Free speech applies to people, not to machines. In EL, when a player spams (like advertising 200 iron ore at a storage every 2 minutes), they can be convinced by reasoning to tune it down. When a bot spams (like greeting the same player every 2 minutes), there's nothing but drastic measures to stop it. In RL, any person advertising something like newspapers on the street, uses at least some intelligence not to get annoying, since that wouldn't be very effective. Automated messages on the street though..? *shivers*
  10. Same here, I didn't vote; my vote to the first question would be "Yes", but I don't want to vote for any option limiting the bot spam by type of message.IMO local messages can be allowed, as long as some spam prevention is coded with it. But that isn't the point. IMO that is exactly the point -- does some piece of software really care about me walking by, or finding something while harvesting whether it is 12 gc or a human nexus removal stone? No.If it's just a mindless line triggered by a simple event (like coming into bot's sight or hitting a blessing), it doesn't fill me with warmth at all. (Or in other words: IMO it doesn't add much to the RPG part of the game, or to the "personality" of the bot.) I requested to disable Gossip greeting me for exactly that reason; Gossip: I'm pleased to see you looking so well, Marc! gets old very fast, especially when you hear it every other time you leave the underworld (!) or approach PV storage. And that is exactly what makes a big difference; mindless repetitive lines, versus (at least some) intelligence behind what the bot says.I'm not saying that such an AI bot should be allowed to chatter away (in local), but it could add a bit of personality to a bot (as opposed to a mindlessly triggered repetitive line). I agree completely.A greeting isn't meant to be shouted across the street without expecting a warm reply. That's what makes the difference between a bot mindlessly greeting me (does it expect me to reply?), or a player greeting (or congratulating) me and giving me the opportunity to reply something like "wtf! I'm bleeding to death and lost all my expensive armor, how does that make me look well?!" to conclude/sum up, a few thoughts about: spammy/annoying <-- versus --> (possibly) entertaining simple trigger coded spam prevention mindless some intelligence always greeting owner and friends restricting greetings to once per players per ... (in-game day?) every (positive) harvest event only rare events no real purpose (besides being heard/known, or "adding personality") (role-playing) purpose, like monster warnings
  11. Bots speaking in local

Most local comments by bots are very repetitive and serve hardly any purpose (besides wanting to be heard/known -- and thus being annoying). Greeting owner(s) or their friends: This can get very spammy if the bot does it every time the player comes into sight. IMO, limit it to one greeting (per player) per in-game day, max. Congratulating on any (positive) harvest events: This may be fun for a few minutes, but like majestyk and Cruella say, it gets annoying very fast. IMO, limit it to only rare events, or don't comment on harvest events at all. New hour messages: If people want such a message, they can enable it in the client. In general, if it's not coded with spam prevention, I say don't let the bot say anything at all. And the less purpose a message serves, the faster it will become spammy/annoying. 12. Changes to client

Is it? Configurable? Would be awesome if it is, because I just realized I use "Drop All" quite a lot! (-- to take lots of items out of storage fast; and a double-click instead of a click would really slow it down.) I also realized that I'm going to use "Sto All" a lot too! Thank you very much, LabRat and bluap!
  13. Emote codes for the client

Question, why is it that we can't use #? Is it simply to prevent confusion with (regular) commands? Unless it's something technical that rules out the #, I'd prefer it over any yet-another-character. *hopes he can act like he #laughs in the near future...*
  14. I second that. Will the results be published or otherwise available in a form that we can view it later? Yes, I will write an "executive summary" of the results in language that everyone can understand (no weird greek statistical symbols, for example). The more weird greek statistical symbols, the better! \/ *signs up for this too*
  15. I'm fine with being test subject too; Marc; male.
