    Resurrecting this thread once again... I was wandering if there are any plans for future (long-term) development of EL and if so, could they be announced? As revi said the project list wasn't updated for months also there were very few EL-blog updates lately. There was some info about new engine and city building but it seems that both of those ideas were abandoned and now whole EL development stopped.

    Without animation programs the black chars effect disappears but textures are still being altered. Also I've noticed that I cannot reproduce the bug right after starting the client - everything works ok for about 20 sec.

OpenGL Version: 2.1.7659 Release <Edit> It also happens with the statistics window and all its tabs, notepad, encyclopedia and options. If any other window is opened (e.g. if you have statistics window opened and then you open your inventory) the "effect" disappears.

  7. Mage class idea

    In some other games (like Baldur's Gate, NWN) it is impossible to cast powerful spells in heavy armour. Maybe EL could use this idea as well… Let's add negative modifiers proportional to armour's defense, so that casting efficient harm in something heavier then leather set would be virtually impossible. The modifiers could be also added to swords to encourage people to use staffs. Another thing is adding cooldown (5-15 seconds) to both armour and weapons to prevent mages from switching to their close combat gear too fast . The cd would only start after you drag a piece of armour from your current inventory to your backpack (or whatever the name of the main inventory window is) or maybe even both ways. What do you think?

    1. When my fps are below 30 (and they are most of the time) I get this flickering-lineral-rain-effect. 2. The frame buffer is enabled, but still i've got black water when the shadows are on.

    Minor bug: If you place the camera as low as you can and then you sit down, the camera falls under the surface of the ground.

    I think it's a different bug - it sometimes happens to me also with or without the patch.
  12. EL 1.6.0 (release) for pre download

    Actually, I have an Ati 9600 mobile on my 4 years old laptop, and I didn't notice any loss in FPS. Water works great, new selection works great.. Did you try to disable the old selection? I had to disable new selection because it keeps getting me disconnected when i cast spells like life drain (also mentioned in RC threads). Even if I enable it there's no performence change.

    As already mentioned, the new client (and all the RC-clients) works worse then the old one ( 30-50% FPS drop). I've tried new official ATI drivers, Omega drivers, tried various el.ini configurations, renaming shaders folder, even the noclusters client and still there's no result. What else can I try to do? Additionally this: Linking shaders successful: Fragment shader(s) linked, no vertex shader(s) defined.d can be found in my infos.log. Does it mean something isn't working as it should?

    Testing results: - i'm getting disconnected when casting life drain or shooting arrows (only when using new selection and already mentioned in pre RCs threads) - actors and water (with shader quality >0) aren't affected by fog - ~30% FPS droop (even if I turn off reflections) + I've found this in infos.log: Compiling shader './shaders/water_fs.glsl' successful: Fragment shader was successfully compiled to run on hardware.     Had had problems with crashing on startup but the new drivers helped (ATI Radeon). I've noticed a graphics problem though - actors and water (with shader quality >0) aren't affected by fog. Screenshot <ED> Snake textures are still "flipped". Sometimes I got dissconnected when draining animals. No resync, no lag, just an immediate dissconnect.

    the black dragon armor looks closest to that, but remember, the more protection you get, the more you sacrifice movement. jousting armor was meant to make knight and horse into a kind of galloping tank. in the photo you see how it immobilizes the knight's arm. hard to move the head/neck in that too. since we're not jousting on horseback, i'd rather keep free head movement. Ok, maybe the jousting armor isn't the best example, but what I meant is the "collar". Look here, each type of plate armor has it. Without the collar it's fairly easy to get decapitated..

  20. An old Eye Candy bug

    My original post and a couple of replies I thought it disappeared but it's still here. There are several versions of the bug, sometimes it looks like that: (rectangles instead of particles), sometimes they (particles) fully disappear, sometimes both particles and rectangles are visible. The version of the bug changes when i move the camera. With point particles on the bug refers to: - lamps (flickering only) - "the old style teleporter" - as shown on the screenshot (constant effect, in some locations even moving the camera doesn't help) With point particles off: - only the teleporter bug and only part of particles is affected.     I can walk into a tile where a tree is and then the actor disappears and the camera "falls down" as if the actor was 2m under the surface. After reboot i can't reproduce it myself (well it happend once and lasted only for a couple of sec). It doesn't move, it just appears in different sizes and colours for a very short period of time. It doesn't change it's size, nor it's transparency. It happend when point particles were on. I've seen it once with heal spell i think (the rectangles were green then). I agree that it's probably my video card's fault (ATI Radeon 9600SE). Everyone knows EL doesn't like ATI Also sometimes my client crashes on startup showing a message about problems with atioglxx.dll I've found a way around that though - after typing the password i have to minimalize the window, wait for a moment and maximalize. Seems like a problem with graphics initialization. Oh, I also have problems with flickering shadows, but that's a different (and old) story <ED> Trying to make my english look less horrible

    I'm terribly sorry if these were already reported, but: 1) from time to time i get this type of flickering rectangular effect. It disapears after a couple of seconds, after you move the camera or after redrawing the EL window. 2) while trying to set the forest of the fall on fire i felt under the tree. It happened more then once and in many different places (this is probably an old bug which is not connected with the eye candy though).

    Borch podobno zamyka oczy w czasie tej sceny Jeśli zaś chodzi o filmy to: - Fight club - aż dziw, że nikt jeszcze nie wymienił (chyba?) - Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels - polecam! - Snatch - Robin of Sherwood - staaarusieńki serial o Robinie, kiedyś leciał na tvp2. Las, mgła, mistyczny klimat, Hern o głowie jelnia, w tle zaś muzyka zepołu Clannad. Jak dla mnie cudo i zdecydowanie najlepsza ze wszystkich ekranizacji. Edit: mowa oczywiście o dwóch pierwszych seriach serialu, czyli tych z ciemnowłosym Robinem, trzecia nie miała już takiego klimatu, może przez wzrost budżetu filmu?
