That makes sense, I think you said you were the second richest. But I still wondered how you could know, lol. You never told me that you had a talk with Don either. Even if you and Don spoke, you couldn't have possibly known what others had in their storage. Its not important now, its just a funny newbie memory. The currency ranking makes just as much sense as the other charts which also fluctuate daily, etc. Sidenote: As for you players complaining about other players buying stats, etc.. Some of you really contradict yourselves because you support the players who sell yet condem the players who buy. That makes no sense at all. I'm totally against it and for me the player who buys is no more wrong than the player who sells.. actually he is less wrong because if a player didn't sell his char in the first place, the other player wouldn't buy.

When I was a newbie you told me that you were the richest player in EL. I halfway believed you but had doubts as to how you could know this info. I just assumed that you had some special access to that data which I knew nothing of since I was a newbie.

A Net Worth could be an entirely separate top players list like we have with the attack and defense players list. A Net Worth could be based on a common demonator such as the base price leaving the fluctuating market prices out of it altogether. There are currently many base prices listed in the encyclopedia. Of course this isn't something which could be done immediately. It is a nice program goal for the game.

Yes yes and YES!! This is a brilliant idea. It would build an entirely new power/political structure where not only the top players in skill have prestige and recognition but also the merchants and more financially afluent players. Its an interesting concept which would also help to bring much needed balance to the game. The dynamics alone would do more to help improve the failing EL economy than any change of formula or any other new impliment. The competition to be on that list would motivate players to work harder to earn more gold/platinum coins. Let's give it a shot is what I say. No secret for me, I'm one of the poorest players on EL because I give most of my items/gold away, lol. I'll probably be ranked at the very bottom of that list. I do think this is an exciting and original idea. I like it very much. We've got our social players, our casual players and our powers players.. its only natural that GC ranking should be on that top player list.

well, while i don't understand the COMPLETE relevance of this post other than marginally, i think i do understand where u'r comming from about u'r views of most ppl. that's partially of y i come here as well, to deal w/ ppl on my terms. offtopic: commenting on u'r religious part of the comment, that's precicely y i'm an athiest, because of all the hypocracy, i just can't believe something from ppl that say 1 thing then turn around and do the same damned things they're condemning. well that's my take on all this. take or leave any or all of it as u see fit. I didn't understand any of his post because he was full of hate and directing it all towards to me. I love seeing these old pics because its nice to see how the game has developed and to share the memories of others. Its always great to see how far we've come by taking a nostalgic walk down memory lane.

Three hours is reasonable. At least you also have a real life outside the realms of the computer. I think allot of people simply leave their char logged on as I do in AFK mode and then check periodically for messages. They play when they can which actually might be a mere fraction of the time that their char is logged on. As Shouja as said (by the way, I love your last post Shouja... I even liked the first actually) the internet has become a way of life for most of the world. Thats not a bad thing because we can make new friends. The net is great for research or education or so much more. We just have to make sure that we don't allow it to consume us and take over our lives, thus replacing reality with virtual reality. As long as its kept in balance and proper perspective, its a great thing. EDIT: My whole purpose behind starting this post was mainly to address myself and those like me who abuse the net to the point of addiction spending infinite hours online. I've since stopped doing that. I woke up one day and simply made a decision and that decision was to be alive again. I still spend entirely too much time online but at least I've taken steps to wean myself off.... like a drug.

Kat, at least you have more balance in your life than most of us do. You go to school, you have your music, you go to parties and visit your friends so being here isn't your only pasttime. You're doing ok it seems to me.

Thanks for that breakdown from the various opinions and perspectives within the Arts and Social Sciences... But, who asked you to cover them all in one forum post? We wouldn't want you to do anything insane. I asked people to tell us in their own words based on their own personal experiences WHY do they play to the point of addiction or even beyond that, not to do a google search on why people play online games and then copy and paste the results. I appreciate the time involved but if thats what I wanted, I could have just as easily done that myself. In that nice copy and paste, do you have room for your own thoughts about why do YOU play? Why do you play??

Maybe you should venture out of the virtual arena into the real life world of humans and try making a few friends there thus finding support beyond the 3D chat/forums. All humans don't bite. Personally, I think its too easily for the internet and especially 3D chat programs/games and other chat programs to become a crutch to reality. Escapism is ok but to a certain degree. I speak from personal experience and the only reason that I am speaking candidly is not only to help me break away and find some balance but maybe to help a few others in the process. There is life out there and being disabled or even home ridden is not a valid excuse to spend enormous amounts of valuable time on a game.. any game.. learn a new skill or hobby and I don't mean alchemy or potions. There is still much one can do within the confines of their home without wasting away in a game. For those of us who can go out, there is absolutely NO excuse whatsover to fall victim to the lure of escaping to the point of neglect of work, friends, family, school.. even one self. EL is a great game and I love playing it as most of us do but I must question once again WHY do we play it to such extremes? Watch a movie, take a walk, learn a hobby but whatever you do find some balance. And for love.. Some people do meet online, fall in love and live happily ever after but.. for the most part online relationships are grounded in unreality and never come to fruitation... they don't materialize.. in otherwords it just doesn't happen. Why? Because one or both of the parties involved are married, dishonest, or are simply using the relationship as a means to escape their dreary life bringing a little excitement and love in their lives. I seriously doubt that this love is real or withstanding. How can it be until you've spent a great deal of time with someone.. know their smell, taste, etc.. how they walk and eat and even talk.. yeah yeah yeah.. you can pretend all that you want that you love their mind and soul but that isn't enough.

I don't spend time at the PL lupine bush. I barely play as it is. Some days I play a little, some I don't. My char is mainly ingame pretty much like I have MSN or Yahoo or AIM open. I've played the game long enough to comprehend the fluctuating dynamics of the EL economy. How long have you played where you feel you have the experience to make such an acidine comment as "the last fix was back-asswords and needs to be corrected now"? Don't even bother to answer because you are just feeding off of the controversy like some psi vamp. As you said before in that big thread of yours about grammar, you like pushing buttons because its a game. Game over.

Demoncowboy, your post is offtopic. But since you posted I will say one thing.. you contradict yourself too much. You should better file your posts so you can keep up with what you have said. BTW, its not so easy to earn 1mil gc harvesting flowers and once again, having money is not the downfall of the economy. Players don't have enough gold as it is. Not many will sit 8 hours a day, 7 days a week at their computer doing nothing else except harvesting flowers for 2-3 months until they have 1mil in gold coins. Give me a smeging break!! If they did this, then so what??? Personally, I would find it extremely boring to the point of insanity but that's their choice and please stop making it look like its so damn easy when its not. If we had more gold in the game, people would buy more in the first place. I certainly would.

I did read your entire and very long post which just basically repeats all that has been said before and I stand by my words that its mundane to keep repeating ourselves over and over. Then what we have is threads all spread out spamming the forums when they should be posts in one thread according to topic.
