  1. EL freezing my computer

    i havent had any problems with lagging or crashing, just servers constantly too full and the occasionall runtime error my computer doesnt seem like direct x games though, i cant run knight online or mu online you should all play on troy server my name ingame is Abatum, im much nubbier in sro than i am in EL

    sounds awesome, maybe a much more suttle version of your idea could be implemented into EL without changing overal gameplay to drastically...say like the goods and evils each had their own private maps but wouldnt be hindered in the neutral world at any certain time of day other than the monsters of the other side attacking them.... adding to the idea..: what if there were certain pk maps where evils could only attack good and goods could only attack evils....nuetrals could attack and be attacked by anyone of course....this would be great for a number of contests and roleplaying activities, and could help populate some of the currently deserted pk maps (tirnym, kasumara, etc.) horvic: if you do make your own mmorpg around your idea i will play it with you xD

    please read all of this before commenting? thanks ive become very frustrated with EL lately. besides my personall issues, im very troubled with the balance of money in the game between people who focus on different stats. basically any stat other than a/d can earn you plenty of money and/or material possessions. this causes some major issues with people of all skill focuses that i think alot of people dont even realize. heres a scenario: fighterjim spends 2 hours pking/pvping/whatever. if he is lucky or very strong, fighterjim might kill a few people, which either drop useless crap or have a rostogul stone, more likely though fighterjim will simply use up all his HE/srs and maybe even die a couple times, thus loseing his hard earned stuff. now that fighterjim is out of gear and essies and pots, he is forced to stopp fighting, which is no fun. now he must learn another skill other than fighting just to be able to keep fighting. ....so fighterjim learns how to manufacter, alch, make pots, and craft. he makes himself some armor and soem HE and some srs and some diss rings and telle rings and goes back to fighting. while this may seem fine and fair to some people, to alot of others (including non-fighters) it proposes a number of problems. a.) fighterjim may be like alot of pkers and would really have a more satisfying gameing experiance if he only had to fight, and could make a FAIR PROFIT OFF OF FIGHTING, SO THAT HE WOULD NOT HAVE TO STOP FIGHTING TO MAKE MONEY IN AN OTHERWISE FASHION. b.) since fighterjim makes his own stuff now, THE MANUERS HAVE NOONE TO SELL THERE ARMOR TO, THE ALCHEMISTS HAVE NOONE TO SELL THERE ESSIES TO, THE POTIONERS HAVE NOONE TO SELL THERE POTS TO, etc etc... while i do realize there are countless exceptions to this scenario as everyones skill focus and settup is different, THESE ISSUES MAY HAVE ALOT TO DO WITH OUR DYSFUNTIONAL MARKET SYSTEM? im sure ive left some things out but that is the jest of my point.

    Now that's what I'm trying to say all the time... Don't take monsters you can't fight very well, if you need 1-2 heals per monsters you are definately on the wrong one! I made 250k exp on 1 hour 40 minutes AND made decent money. If you can do better let me know as far as the xp goes, i can beat that...as far as making money off it goes, pour your wisdom upon me, oh great dahli lamba of ogre murdering besides arguing over petty details, i think the majority of people would say training a/d and/or pking in general is a money drain, which creates some of the problems i have spoken of time and time again in this thread, and the straight up truth is that increasing the capabilities to make profit off of training/pking/whatever type of fighting could help the market flow considerably better. it is beyond difficult to say something on these forums without someone nit-picking over petty details and starting arguments.

    True, if one kind of skill trainers can bitch it's the summoners, others should stop whining... let me re-clarify the purpose of this thread none of any of this was anyone whining. i was not taking any 'sides' and did not intend on a debate between people of different skill focuses. the truth is (and please correct me if i am wrong) if the fighters made money off of fighting, they would spend that money on the alchemists' essences, the manuers armors, the crafter's rings/meds, the potioner's potions, etc. Since fighting is for the most part a money drain, the fighters are forced to learn other skills such as alchemy and potioning etc to support themselves. while they may choose to only fight and alch, or fight and potion, or whatever, there are many more people who train a/d than any other single skill, and different ones will choose different secondary stats to learn, thus partially taking the market away from the primary alchemists/potioners/etc. this is true, is it not? EDIT: this does all apply to some others skills like summoning, that however is in the process of being fixed i think with summoning stones? not really sure...

    eh...after about the first 10 posts none of these are relevant to the origanial topic. before you comment again and say 'yes ghengas, my post is relevant', try reading the originial one again... not going to pile up on quotes but this is mostly what ive heard: 'fighting isnt profitable because it shouldnt be easy to be a top 5 fighter' that is a completely unthough-out and unfair statement. piper, u said something similiar to this and then said 'i worked hard for my #2 harvesting rank' well, yeah, and you probly made a shi**load of money doing it. if you didnt, you were (and i quote cycloonx) 'doing something wrong' why should it cost fighters money to be good at fighting? on most other stats, its quite the opposite. not only this, as i said time and time again, if the fighters had cash, there would be a bigger market for the manuers, alchemist, potioners, etc etc. im not just taking the side of fighters, i just happen to be one. the fact that people with a skill focus on att and def are poor causes a problem FOR ALL PEOPLE, but then again if noone can see this issue and THE ISSUES IT IS CAUSING (possibly the main cause for the dead market) then it must not be a big deal.

    Then you say: So which is it? Can other skills make "plenty of money" or can they not as they "hopelessly try to sell"? In any event, from my experience, the money making skills are: harvesting (harvest and sell), alchemy, and potions. All the others tend to be break-even or net loss as they consume more ingredients than they produce good to sell (as prices for finished good continue to drop). Personally, I make my money by harvesting/selling titanium ore, and use that money to finance all the other skills I work on (plus buy a few toys). if fighterjim made a profit off of fighting he would have money to spend in the market channel thus giving the alchemists and mauers etc a market, rather than fighterjim making it all for himself, thus taking the market from the manuers and potioners and alchemists. everyone words things wrong occasionaly didnt mean to sound hippocritical or w/e EDIT: knight, i deeply appreciate the support but please keep your points towards the origanal subject -_-

    were shall i start.... *sighs* i wont even comment on the first bit, as for getting money from monster drops...if your lucky you'll get enough money to cover the expences (HE/srs/broken armor) but your only chance at a profit is off of very rare drops that you probably wont get and um..did i say alchmemists have an easy life? considering all your really doing no matter what skill you focus on is clicking and typing i woudlnt really say that any part of it is 'hard', what i said about alchemists is that it happens to be a profitable skill to focus on vs. fighting which is quite the opposite (and IMO should not be) now i see what your saying, good point and i like your ideas

    thanks for the good points piper... but shouldnt fighterjim be able to make a profit off of fighting, just like alcherbob does off his alching? also, if fighterjim didnt have to alch to make money, alcherbob would have someone to sell his essences too. he wont though because fighterjim has to make his own. do u know what i mean? ..maybe this is a pointless topic and i am the only fighter who doesnt like to alch/manu/pot. somewhat true but not really my point...
