  1. Questions about game future

Maybe create one of those new fangled "Discord" thingies or start streaming on Twitch and pray someone clicks and watches long enough to want to join the 99 people (and their alts) playing regularly?
  2. Very sad news, regarding Learner

I so rarely come here anymore. Very sad to be informed of Learner's passing. He was a wonderful chap with real personality and a sense of humor. Of all the faces in this community, his will be one i truly miss. Bene dormire, forte somniare in elesia
  3. Beware when trading with LightPresent

Is this STILL being argued over ... FFS ... Look at the number of shekels (gold coins) in the sale window. Changing prices between transactions is what shopkeepers do. No you don't get the crazy good price you think you saw three months ago. If you are too ... stupid ... to look at the transaction price ... there's not much we can do for you but sell you swampland in Florida. I am not a bot owner, but this time i am on their side. Also, the taking advantage of low sell from one bot and higher buy from another is COMPLETELY LEGAL in the game... If you want some cheese with your whine ... go buy some.
  4. Guns.

Guns and hand cannons date back to the 1400's in europe. In China they started using gun type items around 800-900 AD (9th or 10th century). Guns are actually a very Middle Ages item. Now implementing an item where disgruntled regular players could lie in wait for PK annoyances and shoot at them... Actually on that note... Maybe guns should be craftable, but bullets only come from the EL shop.
  5. BOMB PROTECTION IN PK!

Perhaps giant Depends (Diapers) that are only available from Radu's Shop for $10 per pair.
  6. 80's music!

    Opus - Live is Life
  7. New Unofficial Tab Maps - BurnedMaps

Thank you for the new maps Burn, You might take a look here : http://www.fonts.com/content/learning/fontology/level-4/fine-typography/legibility for a basic rundown on what makes fonts legible vs readable. Bolded text is rarely the best option, being elegant, legible and readable is an art, however varying resolutions make this difficult. Oh, and never use Comic Sans, unless you want to be running a lemonade stand.
  8. Guns.

...And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O LORD, bless this Thy hand grenade that with it Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits, in Thy mercy." And the LORD did grin and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats and large chu... [At this point, the friar is urged by Brother Maynard to "skip a bit, brother"]... And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."
  9. Beware when trading with LightPresent

Actually when I look at this one, the first price change is simply a shopkeeper updating price based on market conditions. The subsequent price changes are somewhat predatory but legal in the game and by a supply and demand basis. Economic Mercantilism or something like that was mentioned in High School eons ago. In the real world supply and demand rule. Thats why people stock up on glowing 5 foot tall Olaf the snowman inflatable Christmas thing with Santa hat at Walmart for $29 and then post on Craigslist for $129 when Walmart runs out of stock. http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/airblown-inflatable-olaf-with-santa-hat-5ft/6000187693094 ... not that kind of inflatable ...

  12. 8th Annual Raffle

If I were to donate $20 i presume that is 4 tickets ... or do i need to donate $5 four times? Was thinking to ask you to add Canada but then Poland and Russia and eastern WTF need to be added as well. Just leave it as Brit and Yank Cancer Societies for this year. When is cutoff for entry/donation? ... OIC August 15th .. sorry the post was tldr. At least was scanning ,,, MAYBE put END DATE in BOLD at TOP .. Just a friendly suggestion.
  13. Rule #5, multiplaying

I'm actually interested to see how this plays out. A grand experiment instead of the usual grind.
  14. Rule #5, multiplaying

So, we can create vast armies of minions to harvest any resource and neg-perked lunkhead minions to mule the buckets of raw materials to our chained down alchemists and manufacturers? Then market goods through trade bots and watch the economy dissolve with cheap goods ... <-- Capitalist/Fascist Model Then feed the high end goods to a couple uber goons who now self supply their bashing sticks and armour... <-- Feudalism Model At least it will be interesting to see how many fools get caught automating their minions and get booted. ============= Zathras is used to being beast of burden to other people's needs. Very sad life. Probably have very sad death. But, at least there is symmetry. No, that was not Zathras, that was Zathras. There are 10 of us, all of family Zathras, each one named Zathras. Slight differences in how you pronounce. Zathraas, Zathras, Zathras.. You are seeing now?
  15. Make sure you update your custom clothes meshes

Given the alpha channels ... can we skin as invisible apart from head and hands, or very low viz "ghostly" attire? Not likely to happen but EL could make a mint off some annoyance's costume changes. Also, how much to put pests in pink tutus with mis-matched socks on their ears and a twin domed pink hat? Or some sort of court jester garb to be "medieval". There's also Bieber T-Shirts for those truly "special" individuals in game.
  16. Gaming laptop

I replaced my desktop a few years ago with a basic laptop and then bought a Asus G73. Very good laptop but you should look at a G74 or G75. Early G73's do NOT have USB3 ports. You will have to update the machine's bios and vbios to get the the laptop to cool properly. There was a manufacturing issue in the thermal paste for SOME of the ATI GPUs requiring a repaste job being done. (Later machines have NVIDIA GPUs) Common "issue" with all the G-series laptops is dust. You will periodically (twice a year for me) need to turn the machine over, remove the access panel on the bottom and blow compressed air (short bursts) into the rear thermal exhaust ports. Gather the dust bunnies from the access panel area and do whatever your heart desires with them. Your machine temperature will literally drop by 50% if enough dust built up. My home is not bad for dust but some folks who keep furry critters do this monthly. All in all it has been a good machine and operates well for my needs. Serious overkill for EL. Will replace it in a few years for a newer Asus G series i guess and pass it down to the little ones for school work. Perhaps when Windows 8 get designated ME3 and Windows 9 comes out without the idiot Metro interface fertilizing laptops and desktops.
  17. Newbie channel market posts

Better than nothing. The Autobot annoyance channel (aka Market channel) is near useless. I imagine most folks who are buying go "offsite" to one of the websites that tracks buy and sell prices from bots. That and their guildies/regular trading partners who may buy at a mild premium. I might mention Portland at night is "Dangerous" due to Bob the gob and Whitestone with the Gargs for some of the newbs. I would hope that someone after 50 rat tails wasn't going to lure newbs ... but the thieving scum bum culture has become rampant where griefing is now stupidly common. A certain gobbler of knobs whose name starts with "Dev..." was sucking bags from me during a recent invasion that he wasn't permitted to fight in. Bagsnatching was apparently permitted. Where has this game gone? If you cannot participate in the Invasion why the HECK are you allowed to STEAL every bag somebody else fought a monster at the edge of their abilities to kill??? Good luck with policing this policy as the utter bottom dwelling scum WILL take advantage via PM of this advertising and set the new players up to get r@p3d by monsters so their alts can run off with the goodies from the DB's. Yes they probably know how to use a VPN on an old laptop... Sometimes I wonder why I came back, most of the good folk seem to have left, now it feels like I'm playing a game with nasty 8 year olds ... except many have been here at least 5 years. Either way I'd send you turds to the timeout chair until you learned to play nice in the nice areas of the game and get nasty in the fight club areas. Scamming and griefing are for wow gobblers, we used to have a great group here but the rotten apples need to "get cored" so to speak and thrown in the compost. SIDE POINT ... A long time ago I used to gift newbs with starter gear ... augleathers/sword/shield/boots ... I trust this is still allowed? (other than to alts which i don't run).
  18. very old players

Saw you hanging out today ... wb. My second in a very loooooooong time.
  19. Can I play using 2 game windows? How?

Why not pickup an old windows laptop on the cheap for the second character? EL is nice enough to have rather limited demands on hardware if you kick down a few settings. Yes you could even use Linux on an old XP laptop and probably get better performance than XP ... either way its easy and you're golden. Heck an old macbook would be fun too but would probably cost way more.
  20. very old players

Forum lurking ... rarely in game, bans forum is remarkably entertaining ... never have so many whined so much and rage quit only to come back begging or pretending their diseased dog or sibling-roommate stole their password. Was also back at the beginning of time when pretty much all you could do was walk and talk with a different name ... barely recall as I got bored and moved on only to return later and had a ton of fun. Life moved on and children arrived so ... very limited time and my guildies seem to have left as well. Still a lovely passtime and kudos to the designers and the poor ... poor ... mod-squad. Never have so few had to dig through so much filth to find the truth about so very many idiots.
  21. Heya folks, I pretty much stopped playing a few years back with the arrival of a two little winged monkeys, but I still love what EL used to be. Sadly my guildies and buddies seem to have run off to other horizons as well. I do drop in on occasion for a few hours or days but EL seems to be dying the death of a thousand cuts ... or fade-aways anyway. One issue I always found was the archaic payment system. Lots of folks would like to contribute/buy ingredients or uber gear. Sadly they have parents who don't believe in paying for online content. Some of us are married and weird charges on our credit cards to Paypal or personal cheques will be ... a problem with our spouses. The cash in the mail idea is cute but in the current economy ... postal orchan have sticky fingers. A lot of other games use the "Ultimate Game Card" thingie which you can buy with CASH in Canada and US ... The company probably takes a healthy bite along with the retailer ... but getting 50% of the take is better than 0% of nothing. Just a thought. Ikaris
  22. Pandemic / KO'd guild

@ Learner ... I wonder how many others here actually saw your avatar on a big screen? (Was back to back with SW-TESB at a drive-in near my family's campsite) Way back in the day .. lol.
  23. Pandemic / KO'd guild

Please note this post is not discussing the Moderation of EL but the perceptions that some unenlightened players may have of moderation. The advice to NOT give out your password should be obvious, BUT the perception that the Moderators will Ban anyone who does not kowtow immediately to their demands, may have contributed to the aforementioned situation where a turd floated up from the outhouse and impersonated a Moderator and apparently "convinced" or "threatened" players to give up their passwords and then ran roughshod allover the place. Many older players would tell a Moderator to go perform a ritual greatly resembling a cat mining dung from it's own nether regions before handing over a password, and know that a REAL Moderator can lock or ban a player but will be held accountable for their actions if the matter is escalated to the powers that be. Younger players however, live in the idiot world of grade school or high school where petty dictators (teachers and admins) can get away with any unfair or heavy handed treatment, thus the threats will work on the young and foolish. Other than forcing all new players to type the rules forward, backwards, and having them translate the rules into Polish, Russian and Arabic I am not sure what needs to be done to prevent the young and silly from falling for password exploit behaviors and other scammy scummy sewer scrapings. The new pop-up dialogue box that was mentioned as coming soon might work. Not sure if it is implemented yet. LL&H, Ikaris
  24. Unsolvable Problem...

You could reverse your downgrade to Vista ... and upgrade back to XP. I know that's a pain but your machine sounds like its way too old and underpowered to mess with Vista.
  25. In Memoriam

I bow in sadness to a delightful lady who has passed beyond the veil. May your next incarnation bring you as much joy as this one did. Fare thee well in this journey. Ikaris
