  1. Books to ashes

While I do see your point, and don't wish to cause anyone bad feelings. I'd assume no one here actually lived during a time period where that (book burning) happened. And, I do recall a period called "the dark ages" where people went around with swords and shields slaying eachother for pleasure and gain. I don't see anyone complaining about reliving that dark part of our past... Also, there's the whole implication of deamons and undead running around that would be an afront to a large portion of the population in the world, yet we seem to have no problem with that either. Not to mention the "sickness" of harvesting dung from an outhouse, yet we do that every day. I think investing our "real life" feelings and beliefs into a game can be a way of getting our feelings hurt over something that's intended to be fun.
  2. Books to ashes

If it helps, think of them as newspapers. If people want more, can just print them up more (or find them on monsters in the case of the GAME)... It's not like suggesting we burn down the libraries and book stores so more can't be made/found. Now that'd be barbaric. These are just extra paper no one wants/needs. Remember, it's just a game, and these aren't REAL books (You don't find slaying small bunnies over and over all day long barbaric? There are large groups of people in real life that would. Let's keep real life and this life seperate if possible...)
  3. I hate Tankel

I'm 3 for 3 with tankel so far, maybe I caught him on his sober days?
  4. Books to ashes

Glad you like your own idea. It's somehow new trend in this forums, isn't it? Not at all. My reply clearly states that if YOU don't like an idea, it probably means it's a good one, since YOU seem to take the negative aspect to most people's posts, based on my reading.... If you'd like to argue more about this, feel free to send me a PM and we'll leave this section of the forum for its intended use.
  5. Books to ashes

You honestly shall burn in hell for proposing burning books (ok, I know I'm exagerating here). Barbarian. What about we don't get back to best moments of Medieval Age and happy Inquisition? I honestly hate this suggestion. In the spirit of your reply I must say that if you honestly hate it, it probably means it's a good suggestion Best I can tell....
  6. Books to ashes

LOL The books don't bother me. As someone else suggested, how many copies of the phone book do you need before you want to burn the extras? This doesn't have anything to do with the thought of burning real books that have value, more like pretend game books that imho have no value and could have alternative uses...
  7. Books to ashes

I'm antisocial, so I don't sell much of anything and although the ings for ash are cheap, this is just an alternative thought for how to maybe make more at one time...
  8. Hi, Was sitting in portland storage and half the place crashed all at once. When I logged back in, others were as well, asking if anyone else crahsed. Other people that crashed were (the ones that identified themselves) reejas, spirited, chico_marx. We asked about operating system and it seems it was 50/50 windows and linux. I'm using the website version of the game, not the RC. Wasn't doing anything in particular when this happened, just watching chat go by. Not sure what else I can add except the windows message said that the game stopped responding. Please let me know if you need more. Josi - on forums (Dogbreath in game) EDIT: nothing in error log except this: Log started at 2007-11-16 14:27:27 localtime (Eastern Standard Time) [14:27:27] Error: Can't open file "commands.lst" [14:27:36] Too many sounds. Last message repeated 4 times [14:27:36] Got invalid sound number Last message repeated 1 time [14:27:36] Too many sounds. Last message repeated 2 times [14:27:36] Got invalid sound number EDIT 2: also had a guildmate have a similar crash in C1 underworld, about an hour later, not sure if it's helpful to know or not.
  9. Quote of the week submissions

Was helping BigBot7 today with something on test and he said (and I got his permission to restate): "Oh wow, I learned from a 44 year old today!" not sure if I should laught or cry LOL
  10. GIWS gripe

Hi, Just wanted to put my 2gc worth into the topic of GIWS. First, it would be kind of nice knowing what difficulty of monster is going to invade. Seems you never know if it's going to be armed skeletons or desert chims (kinda hard to plan if you haven't a clue.) Second, and this is far worse imho, the GIWS goes off, and there seems to be a rush of bag jumpers to that spot. I lost my bag in DP invasion in no more than 10 seconds. I come back to try and find it and there are 20 people walking around with nothing on (and barely and material points 40/40 and such) in circles watching to see who dies so they can get a bag for free (it appears...) Is it the GIWS or the GBJWS (global bag jumping warning system?) There has to be a better way. One shouldn't try to help fend off an invasion and end up naked and disgruntled because they had no clue if they could help or not. Sorry for the whine, just had to get it off my chest.... Ok, back to the game and having fun
  11. Agneum Bot in Morcraven Marsh Cave not Responding

I had this same problem with Nera (bot from JusT) who appears to be on the same code base (I could be wrong, but it looks the same...) I start a trade, she sits down, but no trade window... I checked the bot near here (naria or something...) and that bot worked just fine. I reported it to JusT, maybe this bit of info will help you in your pursuit...
  12. Link error trying to compile storebot

Hi, I'm trying to compile storebot on devcpp (windows vista) and I'm getting the following link error: [info] variable '_iob' can't be auto-imported. 13. Link error trying to compile storebot

Thanks again, I'm currently talking with LabRat who helped me get a copy of Artem's bot. Much appreciated Josi (Dogbreath)
  14. Link error trying to compile storebot

Thanks for the reply... We're (FEW) looking for a guild sales bot. I have looked at all the links I could find in the posts, especially the post that details "how do I make a bot?" As far as I know, redknight is a c# bot, written by the same person that wrote storebot, so, I assume I'm going to have the same link error as I'm having with storebot (but I guess I could try it as well.) The ELBot link is broken. The php bot had its project closed and I can't find the source on the page. I tried the java bot links and found no way to download the source. I also tried the link for C# EL-bot source released and was never able to gain access to the svn, and couldn't reach the person to get an account for it. If I can get ANY bot to work at this point, I'd work from there. I can snip code from the sources I do have, in implement the stuff we need, I just need something that I can log into test with and beging modifying. Thanks again for any help you can provide. Josi (Dogbreath)
  15. Link error trying to compile storebot

Hi again, I haven't had any luck finding a solution for this error. Also, I've tried all the links for the other bots listed in the forums, without much sucess either... =\ Can someone please link me to some code I could easily use? (I've programmed for many years, just need something to get me started...) I have windows vista, willing to use any compiler/interpreter as long as I can get it running It doesn't even have to be complete, I should be able to customize it to our guild's needs. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josi (Dogbreath)
  16. Hi, I was reading the post about the auction, and the game needing some more money. Since I'm almost too poor to pay attention, I pondered ways the game could make money for itself. One way I thought of seemed especially plausible: advertisements for the hardware needed/reccommended to run the game. For example: nvida/ati links to cards people could buy that are "certified" by EL as EL compliant. I imagine this would take some agreement from the vendor to let you test the cards they want to sell, etc.. But other than that, I would think they'd be willing to give a kickback for each of the cards sold through the link. I know I would have bought my new card that way had I known what EL recommended as a "good card to use." I suppose this would work for sound cards (possibly ram?) as well. Since EL would be the one "approving" the cards to be sold through the link, it seems it wouldn't be just "pushing" some product. Just a thought hopefully it helps...
  17. Graphics Card

Thank you all for your replies. I'm sure they'll be very helpful in my search
  18. Me Deceneu

Only thing worse than a scammer is a scammer who scams about not being a scammer....
  19. deceneu

Don't let yourself be scammed and you won't be... Taking something in "promise" is really just asking for it... Sorry you had to learn this sad lesson about "some" people...
  20. Storage

But being able to store feasting potions doesn't?
  21. My bad, missed the post about the "buy" part not being implemented yet...
  22. OK, still don't see items being "bought" by the NPCs after they're set up to be purchased by them... There's only buy, no sell (to) option. If you click on set max quantities, it simply says, "Unfortunately, this item is no longer available. Ether that or it was never available, and you are an xxxhole cheater." Never gets any further than that.
  23. All but the set max quantities seems to be working correctly now Ty for the vote of confidence on crashing the server lol
  24. Each of the bugs I found was able to be reproduced, however, during further testing (tried to set min/max qty of steel bars) the server crashed, not sure exactly what we did to crash it... =\
  25. Bugs found with guild merchants so far: after setting an item up for purchase, the npc doesn't have an option to sell stuff to it; when trying to set max quantity, it says (before even getting any further) that the item isn't there and I'm a butthole cheater (paraphrasing, can't repeat what it actually says); when trying to set the min quantity for steel bars, the dialogue says the item you're changing is sunflower. Will post again if more are found...
