A few days ago I went to KF to look for a partner for PVP. I suppose my newbie-ness was reflected in not arranging that before going there, so please don't remind me of it In any case, I had the privilege of bumping into the great donpedro, who was training with a friend. (What a nice character! He's a gnome, by the way! ) As I was paying my respects to the great one, I got attacked by someone and was hit so hard that I did not even see who it was before re-incarnating in the underworld! I later found out that the culprit was scarr, and advised him that my big brother will be looking out for him! The arrogant one reckons he's safe since he's one of the top 20 players - a very temporary statistic, I hope! When I complained to scarr that he did not warn me, he pointed out that I got my warning when I entered KF, and the whole point of being there was to PK unsuspecting people. He pointed out that there was no fun to be had if he had warned me, and that I would have (of course!) fled! So, what Mr scarr is saying is that it is okay to PK people having their private training sessions? Thankfully, I had nothing on, having learnt the hard way after being dropped into a PK map when I stumbled into the temple in MM! I should have remembered that curiousity killed the Eagle! On that occasion, I lost most of my shiny new kit, and I found out just how much damage a magic sword can do! Ok, I understand that scarr has done nothing wrong - legally - which is why I am not listing him as an outlaw. However, I would like to know: Is there a code of honour in PK maps? AFAIK, my guild is not at war with anyone I saw in the few seconds before I was terminated! Anyway, my dear scarr, in my book, you are totally without honour. Not even lions kill just for fun. It may be a while - ok, maybe a long while - but as soon as I am strong enough, I will be looking for you - if my brother does not get you first!

Ladies and Gentlemen, please! I did not create this thread for name-calling, and you may have noticed that I addressed all involved parties with respect, including scarr, in spite of some of the antagonism and barely-hidden insults aimed at me! . I can handle that. However, I have found that trading insults simply makes you lose whatever respect people have for you, although I understand that some people couln't care less! When I said the Eagle has flown, that was my hint to a mod to lock/close this thread, and I would hope that happens as dialogue here is beginning to deteriorate. Hi All, I must say I'm amused at some of the stuff here, but also surprised at some. However, I started this thread because I thought my experience was funny. I am not a whinger, not by a long chalk. AFAIC, this thread has achieved it's purpose, and I now know what the typical player expects from KF, or any other PK map for that matter. I am Eternally grateful for all the comments. Ok. maybe I should clarify that. The incident when I had #beam me typed was the earlier ocassion I was talking about, when I lost a lot of stuff, not the scarr affair. Just in case anyone thinks I made up the bit about talking to DP, feel free to ask zorro (I think that was his name), don or even scarr himself,. It was on local chat. LadyWolf, I have no issue with anyone here, not even scarr. I was the first to admit that he did nothing illegal. Probably like everyone else, I found out about the #beam me thing not working by experience. As to why you accuse me of being a smart alec... I can't imagine what I have done/said to make you reach such a conclusion. You will notice from the topic, that I was wondering if there was a code of conduct in PK maps. In fact I was quite surprised to notice that all the people I saw were training peacefully. In fact, as scarr himself may remember, I commented on this before being attacked. However, I went into a PK map and got PK'd. I took responsibility for that on the chin, so there's no need for you oldbies to rub it in! As for SMooMs, I have no idea who he is, and I was just commenting on Dushan's signature. BTW, by my definition, I am NOT a noob. and even if I was, is that a crime nowadays? Are you superior to others simply because you started playing EL when it started? Thankfully, not all the more experienced players I've met have this attitude. I wear glasses as well, and get called four-eyes quite a lot! These days I really don't mind, although I have to confess it used to annoy me when I was (much) younger. Sorry if I offended you, and I really am a prince! I suppose that's good advice, but maybe people should be warned that they can't beam out of PK maps? I already had '#beam me' typed, but as you noticed, it did me a lot of good!

Hold on. My router/firewall runs NAT, so all 3 computers on the network would report the same IP on EL, although I only use one of the computers. Are you going to blame me for another player using my network? Thankfully, that is not an issue atm, cos I banned the wife and children from playing as it can be addictive! Just wondering how such an incident would be resolved.

This happened to me while I was in Naralik a couple of days ago.... I had a look at my health bar and thought, hmmm, one more gob before I run away. However, just as the gob was about to drop, this guy in full leather kit comes over and joins the fight! The gob dies almost immediately and he grabs the bag and runs off without saying anything to me. I think that is worse than bagjumping, unfortunately I was so shocked and annoyed that I did not react in time to get his name. That was the first time I realised that Naralik was actually multi-combat. I know it's not illegal but surely! Has this happened to anyone else?

I go to Nara regularly to fight gobs. Usually bare-handed so I gain more XP points. I think this dude had a sword, but I really do not remember.

I must say I have been quite surprised at the number of responses to this thread, Let me clarify a few things. I am 29/29 a/d, and currently, full health for me is 55 points. not much, I know, but I had about 30 points left. I decided I would leave after the final gob only because I was out of mana. The most any (unarmed) gob has taken off me was about 20 points on a lucky hit - lucky for the gob. The gob was down to the last few health points, so I certainly did loads more damage than this jumper did. However, he was fortunate enough to land the final decisive blow, whereupon his character moved onto the bag. Of course, I have no way of knowing what was in the bag, but I have found leather kit, swords, SRS, summoning, defense and attack potions on a gob. But like someone smarter than vwpro and hardcore has pointed out, the issue here is not the contents of the bag. In any case, I am sure he would not have attempted that on a PK map! In my eyes, this guy is a bagjumper. I rest my case.

How can you trust someone who swears that s/he won't swear anymore?!!

I have to agree with most of the arguments to change Mira's prices, otherwise the only benefit to making certain potions will be experience so that you can move on up. Ok, so I don't have the exp yet to make feasting pots, but I tried my hands at Physique pots, only to realise that Mira was undercutting me. To make it worse, it's not a particularly 'popular' or 'necessary' potion, compared with the feasting potion. Ok, Mira sells for 25gc or so, but it consumes 3 meats @ 5gc, 9 bones @ 1gc - for the sake of argument, 1 mead @ 2gc and 1 vial @ 3-5gc. When you need bones at that kind of volume, you begin to realize they are not cheap. I find it annoying when people argue that meat and bones are free. You can ask the guys who got killed trying to maximise returns by fighting boar! Ok, so you get more bones fighting skellies, but you are also likely to visit the underworld more frequently. Considering other factors like time and food usage, I think I should be able to sell physique for 30gc considering costs. As that is obviously unreasonable, it seems we have am imbalance. The only person that benefits from all this is Mira So far, AFAIC, the only potion that makes financial sense is the reasoning potion.

Hi there, I have a ATI card that I had a bit of bother with. Could you run glxgears and report the FPS quoted, please? Also, the presence of a dri section in xorg.conf does not mean it gets used. could you try typing glxinfo | grep dri and let us know what that says. I also found that adding a /dev/tmps line to fstab improved response. Now the only issue I have is that I get disconnected every minute or so I will be checking the settings on my router firewall just in case. never had trouble until the update though... BTW, did you know that the client was updated in the last couple of days? That may help.
