that was because of vanyels more respectful post bringing up a point i hadn't considered, even b4 sheesh posted their comment about it which was basically the same reason. both disability and limited skills in a language make it harder to read/understand in the first place. i didn't take that into account and that's y i've cleaned it up alittle bit to take that into consideration. it DEFINATELY wasn't the other's posts. i'd actually like them to keep posting because this is fun maybe we can hijack it for another arguement w/ this much attitude...lol hell no, i'm having fun in this thread...lol So we defeated the dark side :-) *graps a pancake and catches tanyia and the sweet&sour sauce* Piper no u didn't piper, the tactics u and others were using didn't give u a snowball's chance in hell of changing the way i was typing. u owe u'r thanks to vanyel, so don't pat u'rselves on the back ppl (vanyel can), instead, bow down to vanyel and tell him that u'r not worthy....lol /edit (spelling and other changes i thought appropriate )

too many quotes to edit, so i'll simply post another reply personally, if some1 doesn't like me because i'm having fun w/ this then that's their problem, i really don't care either way. to me this whole thread has been mostly for fun and if ppl have to get too serious about it then i personally feel sorry for them. i'm not the guy who just goes w/ the flow, i do my own thing and if they like it, fine, all's well & good, if they don't, then that's their problem, not mine. Seems that some ppl didnt get the difference. In a chat room you usually post 1-2 lines, so its ok not to use paragraphs or punctuations. In a forum, you post longer postings and they are unreadable in that 1337 slowhand typing style. Piper actually in most IRC chats u can fit a block of almost 1000+\- (i never actually counted) characters into a single post taking up to a quarter of the screen w/ the chat client maximized, depending on u'r settings.

vanyel - i got what they were trying to express long ago - i'm just keeping this up because of their attitudes and because it is fun, as the edit to my previous post shows i make an effort by bothering to post at all. it would b VERY easy just to play the game and take from it and do what i will while giving nothing back at all, untill i found another game that had more features that i liked and tried to move friends that i play w/ there. i've done it comming here, i can and might do it if i chose to leave. instead i give my 2¢ on what would help this game. i was NEVER asked b4 to keep chat slang out of it here or other forums i have attended and untill vanyel's post, i was never asked, i was either judged or got smartalic remarks. that is FAR from the way to get ME to do ANYTHING. instead as this thread shows it only becomes a form of entertainment to me because when i'm harassed, singled out and ordered, mocked or anything else i'll never listen Wow, he found out already the reason why we are shouting at him, but does he know it too? Hrm... This is NOT a chat room! This is a forum!! Piper no but there was no set rules stating that chat slang was prohibited ( i'd like to see that 1 enforced actually - could b funny w/ as vanyel pointed out so many ppl who have only limited english speaking/writing skills) besides this thread points differently the ppl i've been giving the link to this thread to i've been telling them this is either the most fun thread, or the slowest chatroom i've ever seen.....lol and FYI the louder u shout the louder i laugh, i don't respond at all to negative attention, had enough of that growing up thanx. btw u'r attitudes like this are only reinforcing just how much chatroom-like this whole forum is, if u want to have the chatroom attitude, we might as well also have the grammar and syntax. well i have no choice but to agree that the net has hurt grammar and syntax, but i'm not the 1 to try to help change it, especially since i was on the bandwagon that started sending it down hil. so i've just used it whenever it was casual. this forum is nothing if not casual, otherwise, it would be alot more strict like the gothic forum u are/were a part of. the attitudes of others expressed throughout this forum show how casual and chatroom like this forum actually is. and singling me out w/ this (especially since it started as a comeback and ppl jumped on it) isn't the way to bring about change, in me or any1 else. a more polite solution would have to be in order. maybe adding to the dev suggestion forums a rule against chat slang and 1337 typing and to type as clearly as possible. calling it lazy, immature, or saying it looks like it shows a lack of intelligence will only spur more ppl on to use it because even if it's polite it's an attack and spurs an equally offensive attitude that will spur users to keep on using it, merely out of spite. i have never taken anything in this thread personally, this whole typing thing started as a retort to a comment i made about some1 using company resources for personal things, w/ my typing being the only thing he could come up w/ to come back w/. u said that u've spent time in chatrooms, tell me, doesn't this seem like an IRC channel arguement to u? it sure does me, so i'm treating it as such. so for me this is entertainment from this part on ------ note that since i edited to reflect vanyel's post i have cleaned it up a tiny bit

ok now that it's been moved i'll comment on this finally: about the amish i was showing u how badly u took that whole part of the conversation out of context plain and simple they are the hardest working ppl i know (work too hard in my opinion but thats the way the like it so more power to them) and tell me in u'r native language do u mean to HONESTLY tell me that that writing casually u still use all propper grammar and punctuation, and use no slang? , if u try to say that u do i wouldn't believe u - i speak english primarily so yes like most ppl speaking english primarily i don't worry about grammar or syntax when speaking casually and i let my typing reflect that, - it's not like i'm writing a resumé here or nething yes i am an American and proud of it - and that doesn't mean i think i'm better than anybody - but i'm in no way ANYONE'S lesser either if u want me to b respectful to u - u will show respect to myself and any other that u have no real reason to disrespect in the first place (i they disrespect u first as i had u for disrespecting the person who posted that thread in the first place) i in no way believe i am like anything i don't believe in in the first place - but i AM equal to all - the only things that separate ppl are opportunity, chance, and to a degree their own efforts- but even that does not make them less than anybody else everybody is different to some degree in different things - it's called VARIETY i'm sure that even u and i have common ground in some places just as we have differences here and i only mentioned that isp to show the fact that me and my style of typing have been around a good while, it was the VERSION that was the important part not the isp, but apparently that escaped u completely and my style of typing is still used to day in just about ANY english speaking chatroom in the world and to an extent a few non-english speaking chatrooms - and if i wanted to show off i could this whole thread from my perspective is just an entertaining diversion, just a different kind than the game itself Yup, he's right! Case closed u took that out of context Roja, the point was that i, and a good few others have no trouble, and i also suggested to u in PM that it could aslo be that u'r putting too much undue strain on u'r eyes w/ u'r video settings, if u'd like i could try it in a larger font for u and see if that helps but i wasn't looking to insult u Roja and if i did i apologize - i was just trying to make the point that out of several hundred ppl here there were 5 that jumped on this and also there are countless chatrooms that have no problem w/ this style of typing, if u'd like i could list several chatrooms u could visit to see my point on an even larger scale, but i wouldn't want to b responsible for putting that much strain on u'r eyes if that's the case -------------- might i also mention that this started over gen axis being rude in the first place making a comment about company resources that he was using to view a thread about a game that even on a break was using company resources in effect helping raise operating costs (even if marginally) raising the cost of that companies product in turn raising the price to the end consumer and his only retort to that was my typing ---------- but this is fun.. i hope this thread continues for a good long while just please if u'r going to join in take this as i am as a fun of the variety found in most chatrooms that aren't based around meeting ppl - because as long as their taken in the context i have these pissing contests are fun....lol ------ Edit: vanyel i just saw u'r post and if asked nicely i could have cleaned it up a bit , i'll admit i wasn't taking into account ppl who don't even claim to be anywhere near fluent in english. i admit that under the right circumstances, forums (not like this thread) could help teach propper english, but propper english would help u get a grade and pass the course but it won't always necessarily help u to communicate in english - especially in the US where everywhere u go u hear a different accent and syntax and everything else. my typing could also reflect that to a degree, because if u go to Lousiana here in the united states the cajun accent is part french and everywhere u go in america ppl speak differently using the same language and in some instances it also reflects in their typing, and i've also seen for myself that it's the same w/ other languages - if this was all in German (which i speak a little of and am looking for a tutor in if u know any or happen to speak it u'rself) even w/ a translator i know for a fact that i have trouble w/ all the slang - and have trouble w/ the casual typing - but i never 1ce asked them to type correctly in their own native language . imho that would b wrong instead i've tried to learn from it. w/ little success i admit but that's because i don't have an understanding well enough of the basic vocabulary and only know certain key words (and a few taught phrases for speciffic purposes) but i'm sure that after i learn enough then i could also learn how to b casual w/ it as well i didn't take into account that other ppl were trying to learn english from this forum at all though. just like i gave up trying to learn German in German chatrooms and have letting other ppl tutor and teach me 1 on 1, i figured that was a better way and thought other ppl did that as a whole but since u were at least mostly respectful and tried an honest attempt at communication and not sarcasm if that was also part request then i will put a small bit of effort to clean up my typing in certain areas (but only alittle, i still don't plan on thinking too much about what i'm typing)

i was by making casual suggestions so 1) i will not be dictated in the way i present them just like i don't dictate how the game MUST be made 2) my suggestions are for the devs to take or leave - just as the game is for me to take or leave 3) if u don't like they format in which my suggestions are presented feel free to ask me not to post and i won't it doesn't matter to me - it was just my way of helping for playing this game for the price i am paying and u took my offer out of context, i offered to translate other's posts that couldn't b read (making mine transcription quality because i wouldn't want to have my own given to me for translation) simply to b "in the loop" of information that other's dont have yet - that is in no way any kind of monetary gain just a way to enhance my playing experience knowing more about the client and having info b4 others (pretty small compensation if u ask me) but lets move the off-topic posts to a new thread to get back to the suggestions on it i'll b glad to continue to have fun w/ this there untill then i won't respond to the off-topic posts

well, the only HONEST thing i could suggest is getting u'r eyes checked, because i have no problem reading posts as bad or worse 1's than my chat style of typing. those belonging to >13 yr olds and ppl posting that have a hard time w/ english w/ spelling, punctuation and all other kinds of errors i can read fine. i really don't think it's a special ability i have or nething, but if u TRUELY have problrems reading those types of replies for priviliges that other players don't get (like info about commands in the client that most don't know about etc etc etc and other perks of that sort - the kind that don't cost nething - i would b willing to officially translate them (and type w/ full punctuation caps and everything else to save myself the work of doing it 2ice). i'ts not that i CAN'T type correctly, it's that i don't because i'm not being paid for it so i'm going to be casual about it. i don't want mod status because it's enough just being a decent guildleader. but i would accept the info privvy to the ppl working on the clients and the like and 411 of that sort. since on dialup i can't d/l the c/c++ compiler to teach myself the language to b of any help that way to get that kind of information, i would b willing to help in other areas, and apparently translation from casual to transcription quality could be beneficial to the dev's tired eyes but being paid to type as a freelancer (sometimes) i'm not going to do transcription quality typing for free. just like a friend that's a mechanic would not fix u'r car like it was in the shop earning his paycheck for free they would make it run but their fixes won't be professional quality. it's the same deal here edit: and i also concur that the off topic posts should b moved but not deleted because to me this is fun and if gen axis and the others r up to it i'd like to continue it to me this is fun only - if any1 has taken any real offense then i apologize to them ps that's y i didn't reply to the comment by gen axis - i'll b glad to after it's moved though and am looking forward to it being moved so i can continue w/ them i even thanked them last night in PM because this is fun...lol

You think judging someone for his typing style is same as for ex. religion ? C'mon, what beeing lazy has to do with that ? the ppl who don't care are the ppl who refuse to READ some1 who types like this has generally been on the net since aol2.1 (when it was a fun sespool of hackers and hacker progs) internet shorthand had been around for a looong time and i've been using it about 10 yrs now and have no intention on stopping it for casual comments to suggestions or even some suggestions if i want to save my 10-15 keystrokes/min it's my right and if u or some1 else thinks they can judge some1's intelligence by their typing care to hazard a guess at my IQ, or my score on the mensa workout? (won't dare claim to b a genius) and since u'r such a good judge can u also tell what kind of person some1 is by thier skin color, religion, or nationality? if u can and can prove it then i'll bow to u for u'r a better man than I You're right, this is a free game and us devs and mods are nice enough to give hours of our time daily working our tails off so that you DO have a free game to play. And yes, we are open to suggestions, and we are open to not take them too. And if it hurts our eyes to look at it, we are also open to moving along to the next one. Your few suggestions can't compare to the hours upon hours these dedicated people put in to work on this game so I suggest before you start insulting them, you start considering exactly who is working here. And for your information...yes this is a free game...and everyone who works here is a volunteer, not a paid employee. well as a rule i don't usually insult or attack ne1 untill they attack me, mine, or in a way i think is wrong, i'll stand up every time for myself, those i have a reason to, or when i feel it's right, and u or no1 else is going to disuade me from following my ways of doing things i didn't mean to insult any1 for doing things in the game i thank the devs for the jobs they've done and are doing which is a fine job doing things in just they're spare time (providing it's not wasting company resources at their jobs because that raises operating costs needlessly forcing higher prices of the products or services to the consumer) - the mods i understand are doing the best they can given their circumstances. i'm sure the pressure to deal w/ several hundred ppl can b overwhelming causing them to lash out at ppl over nothing at times, because i know it can't b they're suffering from any case of nepotism or letting power get to their head in any way - i'm sure it's just stress causing them to lash out over such petty things

ok what if a guild leader leaves suddenly (like fatal accident IRL or something) is there a way for a co-leader to get ownership in a case like that or does that particular guild have to die w/ them? because i've played a few games that something has happened to some1 like that something happened IRL and they just disappeared what if anything can b done about this?

well i agree it would b an incredible item which i think is y it would have to b fairly expensive and hard to make but shouldn't b so rare that only a few ppl could have such an advantage because being small in a PK map could give u an advantage of suprise paralleled to none which is y i think it should affect u'r stats accordinglyso u wouldn't hit near as hard in the case of a phys monsters and thinking it could go both ways could b fun and add ALOT of exitement just balanced so that w/ the plusses and minuses u could even b at a disadvantage to the wrong unmodified player but still an advantage to others and the opposite be true for the other side of the equation would have similar challenges against other unmodified players but should b interesting enough against eachother - if i worded that right to make enough sense i think it could add ALOT of flare and fun to the game on AND off the PK maps

Normal players can't be allowed to be that small ... too much of an advantage on PK maps! learner, suppose that potions for size (both ways) could b implimented - wouldn't it be feasable if changing size affected stats by the factor of size as well? - like for example u take a shrinking potion and u'r size is reduced by half and u'r p/c/r/w/i/v would all each be halved as well or some other measurement to keep the advantages minimal (though they could b advantages/disadvantages) or maybe phys/vit could get quarted coord/reason/int and wis could each get half again in turn and vice versa for enlargement or some balance like that to give each it's own advantages/disadvantages - is that even possible now or...? if it is let me know and i'll post it in suggestions unless u want to do it if not <shrug> it was just a thought I don't think you want Don Pedro taking advantage of that! well i just think it could b an interesting addition if done in a balanced way - if u have a better idea for balance giving only small advantages/disadvantages i think it could b a fun thing to play w/

well hopefully the karma system will b in place then or soon after that because my point was that even a character that does "evil" things could either have a good disposition making them the most dangerous kind of evil or they could b a good person that does evil things to produce the most expedient, lasting, best end result because a character could choose to do evil things in order to have the "power" to do good things w/ it and vice versa and that's y if that comes to be a karma system would be so important but now knowing that (i didn't see nething on that b4) how is that going to affect the anti-socials? if an NPC won't deal w/ some1 anyway how would that even affect them? - and while we're at it can i get a link to that 411 as well? i'd like to read up on it

that's not necessarily true actually just like some "christians" just are of that faith because of the just-in-case thing doesn't make them good people at all and the same w/ the game as i explained in the other thread which was mentioned in this topic my character for example just follows certain dieties for the advantages they give (mostly experience) and does better things w/ them w/ better intentions and i am sure there are other characters such as aluwens followers that do things that wouldn't b considered good w/ those bonuses so good and evil should b based on what u DO and what the ENDS are not who u follow or strictly what u do but is a combination of both which i explained i believe further in the other thread about karma edit: just edited the quote to better show what was commenting on as far as the maps being that way i think kedan could have something viable there when/if it could b done but maybe alittle less dramatic as far as the maps themselves go i don't have an opinion on that speciffically it could b interesting if done right but not necessary because the PPL could decide that - though i DO like kedans suggestion of antagonist NPCs like good and evil monsters/ppl (NPCs)

i like nyxl's idea best if that can b done like that honestly but i would like the effects kedan mentioned blended into it somehow i like nyxl's version of karma system because that's the way my character works my char follows Selain and Unolas (waiting for Elandria wish i knew what was missing besides programming there so i could help) but always works towards the right ends - it's his METHODS that would be questionable so my char would be chaotic good - under just a evil - neutral - good system i'm not even sure how my character would fit in and w/ the god's - my char only follows them becauseof the advantages he recieves and since he's never seen an invasion or nothing he can't explain completely he attributes the following them to a sort of just in case thing that he partially believes is just luck and is slightly more intelligent than most for the added exp. he makes a good leader being this paranoid only because he has the ability to read ppl and is usually able to b proven right when he does voice his cynical opinion but stays quiet when there's a doubt and the reason he is chaotic-good is because he is a firm believer that the ends CAN justify the means and while he persues honorable goals he will use whatever methods whether they be good or evil to achieve the best and most efficient result - and on just a flat scale of evil-to-good it'd b REALLY hard to place him because if it was done by actions he'd jump WILDLY all the time in the system doing something VERY evil for a minorly good deed or something mildly evil for a VERY good deed and any/all combinations in between that's y i think we'd need nyxl's model to explain y a character like mine could function like he manages to and could encourage other players that RP to make characters w/ THAT much flavor and variety but i do like kedan's suggestions about the guilds and think that would b a WONDERFUL way to rank alot of them because then u could have the most honorable guild - listed on a scaleable measure and guilds wouldn't have to rely on just the strongest players or the most players or the richest u could also have the most honorable, the least honorable and the fey guilds all measurableand then if learner wouldn't mind could even make a sort of listing in these dimensions for the best guilds in each area and i think it would add ALOT of flavor and richness to the game sorry if this seems scattered but 1) i just woke up 2) i'm dealing w/ multiple things at 1ce right now but i hope even inspite of that i got my thoughts across

well brian after the grief u caused GOLD and even moreso directly to me, i think u have a long way to go - i hope u can turn around because for the most part u'r not a bad kid, u just need to tone it down a bit if u can it seems like u'r more hyper and quick to react than nething else maybe for starters if some1 says something u don't like give it 5 min b4 u reply and think about it - it will give a good habbit and will also give u time to think about it a min to see if what they said was really that bad - that's the best advice i could give u like i said u'r not a bad kid - u'r just too quick to react w/o thinking things through first and as u saw in game alittle earlier even when i put u on ignore it was only for about an hr i'm not the type to hold a grudge over small stuff like that

i WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree on the bandwidth arguement i'm on dialup and if i had to d/l movies on top of the 2 hrs it takes me to d/l the full client i'd have given up and would still b playing diamonin or RS videos are a VERY bad idea but if riche would put them on his own server or something and make them OPTIONAL - as long as they were good enough like shown mouse movements to icons and shown click and drag and things like that and w/ a text narrative at the bottom - then hi-speed users or dialup users that don't care much about waiting for long downloads for non important things wanted to download them then that i could see if ent/roja would let him have a link in the help files (w/ warnings on file sizes and maybe estimated times of d/l) then maybe it might be feasable - but definately think nething like that being mandatory is a bad idea
